All I can say is that I am a Holden who got the lifter free additives were only a band aid fix in my LS1 V8 powered Holden VY SS Commodore,I ended up having to pull the cylinder heads off to replace them 5 years ago. The additive lasted about 1000 kilometres, until the lifter noise came back !

Nulon make some really good products. Their oil is brilliant. I worked in a spare parts shop for 20 years and it’s all I ever used. I put their now deleted full synthetic for race engines in my worked EL and changed it every 3 months and it never ever dropped oil pressure. I had used Penzoil for one change and it was garbage. Nulon is some real good shit. Penrite isn’t too bad, we sold a fair bit of it, but I’m now running Valvoline in my BA now I actually have to pay for it.

There will be a slight difference in compression with different engine temps. I believe a hot motor will show more compression

my au just died because i didnt realise there was a hole in the airfilter and it sucked in a lot of dirt :(. it started running rough and struggled to idle until eventaully it stalled and sounds like its got fuck all compression. It had that much blow by that the dipstick was half out too haha. Imma work on it soon and chuch some oil or diesel down the cylinders and let it sit and then wind it over with oil in there and see if the old girl wants to start up again

Dead set, nylon engine oil stop leak works. Put in my ba after 300k. Had a lot of oil all over the sump. Wiped it and it stayed dry. I real stuff

AU 4.0 Falcon's back in 1998-2002 ran on 10W-30 Engine Oil. Driven over 300,000 Km can easily run it on 5W-40 or 10W-40 Full Synthetic. Don't put in /50 or /60 as it may build up sludge. Any-who Roast Me on the comment's if you guys run your AU 4.0 on Thicc Oil like 10W-50, 15w-50, 10W-60 or 15W-60.

Did you use the same oil viscocity before? If the piston rings are worn, oil could be getting past them, artificially inflating those numbers. How did it feel to drive before vs afterwards?
