You have to realise that the metal scene in Japan is very undergorund, it makes the UK underground seem main stream, so it's not suprising the they had never heard of heavy metal before they started, also add to that not many 10-12 year olds have heard metal music unless some one in thier homes likes it. It's also been said that when the idea of heavy metal was first put to them, one of them thought it ment they would walk on to stage carrying heavy metal blocks. When the manager gave them the names of some bands, off they went to youtube and looked up the bands. Su has said that when she heard the drum beat she thought that she could dance to it and it would be interesting. They have also said that they never really understood metal music untill they saw Metalica live in 2012 at a festival they were both playing at, which is about the time they started to come out with "no thinking, just feeling", a tag line they used to use.

That video does a good job demonstrating that they are not only incredible entertainers, but also very humble, honest and caring human beings.

Did you think Metallica ever imagined that their band name would ever be pronounced so adorably cute. FYI Babymetal was the opening act for Metallica's tour in Asia.

"Level headed" is pretty standard for Japanese people. Even if they have strong opinions, it would be considered too rude to say them, so almost any Japanese person will give a very measured response to any question. It's an amazing culture. Things we consider to be inherent in all people, such as religion, just never caught on there, and they became total pacifists after the war. Even their crime rate is near zero. It's incredible what a powerful sense of shame can do to a culture. They're very unique, and the girls display that very nicely here.

Thanks for doing this one! I like this video because it gives a little insight into what the girls are thinking. They are wanting to learn and grow, they take their art seriously. They accept the criticism so they can continue to improve. So on top of being cute Kawaii, they are dedicated to the craft as well. Cool reaction video!

Yui seems to have gotten more and more shy as time moved on. They are all pretty level-headed, but maybe to be expected as they are professionals and had been for some years by this point. With some of Yui's comments during Sakura Gakuin, I believe she maybe is the deepest thinker. But Moa is perhaps the steadiest of the three. I am always impressed by how genuinely unassuming they seem. I hope someday there will be real interviews with Suzuka, Yui, and Moa, rather than interviews with Su-metal, Yuimetal, and Moametal. The closest was the Tower Records interview of Su-chan just before her graduation from Sakura Gakuin at age 15 in March 2013.
