Hey Stu! What computers did you have many moons ago?
LISTEN AND YOU SHALL SEE.
Full list:
Commodore VIC-20
Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2
Atari ST (then STE)
Commodore Amiga 1200
PC based around a Pentium 200 MMX
Then some awful shop-bought Pentium 3 450 based thing
Then loads of different self-built machines
And now: THE GAMECHILD (sort of)

Glad you had better luck with Overclockers. I spent over a grand on a pre-built PC in 2008, it died after a week, sent it back, they returned it a month later, hard drive dead. Sent it back again, got it back, graphics cards were hanging off, inner case bent up. They refused to replace it in its entirety, and to add Insult to injury, while they were fucking about with it, the price had gone down to 800 quid, while I couldn't use it, and refused to refund the difference. (I know no one cares, but I felt better for saying that, since their service was atrocious)

That custom backplate on the 1080Ti is awesome! The custom glass panel is, as well, of course. One cool thing about VIC-20 is that it tends to transcend country/continent lines as people's first computer. I've seen plenty of people from the US, the UK, elsewhere in Europe, etc, say that the VIC was their first machine. That's kinda cool when you think about it

My first was a ZX 81. I owned lots of books with games in it that you could type over. Oh the tension when you would run it (and it would never run fine the first time of course!) I *loved* Diablo/Hellfire! About a year ago I fired it up again just to see how it held up; you need a few patches to get it to run on a modern machine. It's definitely aged, but assuming you're in the mood for nostalgia, you can pleasantly knock out a few afternoons with it since the dungeons are always randomized and you get new stuff each time. The Hellfire expansion was great and it's a shame it didn't get better reception; I particularly liked the bug alien demons or whatever they were. Surprisingly there is a modern, active modding community for Diablo 1 called "The Hell" where they basically just ramp up the difficulty to 1000. Clicking on skeletons was somehow made much more difficult.

I remember my folks purchased me the A600, and then the A1200 came out about 6 months later, so what we had was instantly obsolete.
