As someone who had made trash levels before (This was a long time ago when SMM2 was hyped I have gotten better at playing and building levels after watching Panga) I can say we have zero IQ, believing we are making good levels until someone tells us.

there are three types of bad levels: troll levels(i honestly dont think these are very bad because the whole point of them is to make your playthrough a nightmare if it's a good level by panga's standards it's a bad troll level) little timmy levels "haha find the dev door or die" levels

Its probably cause not everyone making levels have game design in terms of how fun other people will have playing it in mind. They are just creating something they like. Some want to make levels no one will beat or super hard so they put cheap dev doors some are little Timmy's who just push all the buttons and that's what they see others doing so they copy it. At least that's what I think sometimes I see levels where I cant pass cause a random unmarked hidden block is in the middle of no where, but also not like in a troll locations. I think its because a little kid doesn't think about stuff from other peoples views. He knows where the key is so he didn't think to mark it for someone else. so I don't believe all bad levels are made maliciously. Though yes if someone puts a last second kaiso block into a pit right before the flag in an otherwise normal level I insta boo.

This one looked like an attempt at a puzzle level. The user definitely didn't playtest with others cause there are often things that make sense to you as the maker, but not to others. Basically getting tunnel vision

I know my brother used to put dev blocks becuase he wanted it to be a puzzle but maybe others did it differently

Yeah. If it just sticked to an idea or gave some indication of what the trick was, it could have been not that bad.

The game probably uses real time instead of number of frames. Remember, modern games generally don't have their actual processing tied to the framerate.

Yes but when Nintendo does it they put the star in a location that rewards exploration and actually has a purpose like being able to get a 1-up farm. While in this lvl probably most of the ppl hit that block by accident leading them into the pit right in front of it and it didnt even have a purpose

@@jhsonbi5914 no, i just tested it and since it was the first game, every kill only gave 100 pts.

@@worm8566 Oh, I didn't know that I guess SMB is an exception but most of the other Nintendo games just dont put random stars around for no reason. It works in MM2.

I agree, but at least little timmy levels can satisfy that little primal part of your brain with all the killing
