Same in Germany. Putting up flags for birthdays-- definitely not 😆 We put up "Happy Birthday" garlands (or the equivalent of "Alles Gute" = Best wishes) in my family.

It is really interesting that you use flags as birthday decore. I live in germany and as we have a critical relation to national symboly because of our history it would be really weird for em to hang up flags for birthdays. We use couourful balloons or garlands. Flags are only decored when our national football team plays :)

In the Netherlands we do use flags for celebrating birthdays, but not the national flag, but just colourful flags in all kind of shapes

When you're gonna travel around Europe, check out Slovenia maybe. 🇸🇮 🙃 It's really small so you can go from Ljubljana (capital city) to Bled and Bohinj (both with a lake and beautiful landscape) by bus and it tooks only 2 hours. 🙂 And there is first zero waste hotel in Ribno, Bled. 👌 Oh, and in Ljubljana there are some vegan restaurants/bistro or thrift shops so welcome to our little but lovely cuntry. 😄😊

I'm from Spain and here our flag is barely used apart from those on institutional buildings hahaha. We have a love/hate relationship with our flag XD kinda difficult to explain.

Happy Birthday. Also i was thinking how sometimes patterns in a fabric are woven in using a synthetic and a natural fibers. Then the fabric is dyed and only the natural fiber takes the color resulting in the finished design. I wonder if the flag was made that way they just ran out of the same white thread. Just what it reminds me of. Anyway, stay lovely ✌️
