With Southwest at BNA its a hub but we do everything as well they use to, have you do the walk around, push back, run the gate (by that I mean make sure you have everything, make sure you have the bags and out on time, also run the radio and etc) while also being in the bin and with 2 man gates but that was with 200 to 300 fully mainline employees in BNA but that was causing so so many delay that they went to 3 man and now over this past year double our ramp agents and overall our employment for Southwest at BNA. So now they have the gate lead outside the bin but they have to pushback etc. Crews also rotate now which is way better

Hey we have a few retired individuals working for us. It’s a great job for retired folks. You get very cheap flights and a flexible work schedule. I’m totally not attempting to recruit you at all haha

They don't glorify the ground crew but they are essentially important to operations moving & stopping planes.loading pushing back tows.

It really is an awesome job. Still messes with my head that I get to work on aircraft everyday. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to just learn how airlines operate. People often complain about bags or delays but when you work for the airline it really teaches you of every moving part that keeps the operation going smoothly. One mistake or delay will have immediate effects on passengers upline.

@@AircraftPitCrew I've been there just over a year and got to meet a few celebrities, see people get arrested for being drunk, stand under moving aircrafts and just have a good laugh. It was definitely the right choice for me

@@AircraftPitCrew Manchester airport is pretty big, but they don’t get as many aircraft as they did back like 20 years ago. The biggest plane that goes in there is the emirates a380

@@KPlanes2702 Oh wow The biggest we get here is a Boeing 757 and that’s on a rare occasion. Other airlines and the military have larger aircraft but the gates on our side max out at a 757 unfortunately

Working under the plane is a very rewarding job with many opportunities for people just starting their career. In the beginning it can be a bit rough but once you gain more experience you can move up the ladder. I know people who went from supervisor to manager in just 3 years. It’s fast pace which allows for such quick promotions.

We definitely take delays 😂 we’ve had too many people put their life on the line for an on time departure. This job isn’t that serious. I’ve noticed with smaller stations like TYS there’s more of a rush to get things done. I flew to MSO to help their station in the fall and they really didn’t understand the concept of safety.

Agreed. Way back in the day we had 25 minutes to turn an RJ. Everything done to the book. Safe and sound..bags, bins, butts lets go and get this door closed. There are always delays. WX, MX, ATC, take your pick. Not taking a station delay because we couldn't get bags or pax on board on time. Have no idea what ground crews are like these days. Safety is first.I highly doubt someone would get killed. However, a belt loader or tug can ruin your day. @@AircraftPitCrew

well... yesterday, I watched the video about the ARFF squad for Boston Airport (BOS) and the boss said: staff have to be suited up and in the truck in 2 min after a call comes in... for some people, I think they'd say: screw that. What if ya need to use the bathroom before heading out?

Yeah the job doesn’t pay the best but some stations start at $30/hr which is good enough for me. I use a GoPro Hero 10 for all the footage. The battery life is trash when recording in 5.3k but well worth it for post editing.

Wow! 30 an hour. Every position i saw within like 150 miles were all less than 20 for even full time if they offer full time. Like i said I'm enjoying being a line tech for a GA airport. I might use my Gopro to record a busy day.

That depends on your company rules but I would recommend blue, black, or grey cargo pants. As far as boots go you will want some comfy steel toes. Make sure you get a good brand with a good warranty so you can keep getting free boots. In my first year I went through two pairs and the warranty saved me so much money.

I work at BOI as an ALA for Delta. The job really isn’t terrible. It’s just the constant rule changes and horrible management that make this job hard.

So we match our wages to the upstairs Delta agents. Delta won’t let us make more unfortunately. We get raises usually about twice a year. Last year we had a $2.50 raise then another .89¢ raise in November. We get S4 flight benefits as well. Some of our guys have S3 but that’s because they were grandfathered in when we were DGS.

@@AircraftPitCrew Okay cool I appreciate the response. As to the S3 and S4. does it depend on the person getting hired or how do they make it into the S3 Status? And would you say it’s hard Flying and enjoying the Benefits on S4 Status?

So everyone is hired on as S4 and your seniority depends on hire date. You can’t move up to S3 unless you work for Delta unfortunately. Only people who worked for DGS prior to Unifi have S3. Flying with S4 is definitely easy to accomplish. You just have to time it right. Don’t fly during holidays or during breaks. So for example if you fly out during spring break odds are you will get stuck in whatever state or country you are in. It also helps to watch passenger counts.

For us it’s unlimited. But I believe it depends on your contract. We also have an Alaska contract which is also unlimited but for spouses you only get 8 tickets. You still have to pay taxes on your flights. If you worked United it would be $50 dollars a year.

You’re in luck. You don’t have to read all of this 😂😂 So it’s a game I’m developing on my days off. I put the project on hold until they finish adding features to Unreal. I would hate for me to go through all the trouble of developing an aspect of the game only for them to release a tool that shaves months off the production. However the story is still being written regardless of map development and it’s quite the story. It’s about a young guy who has a wife and young daughter. Scientists discovered an issue with Earths tilt and began preparing behind the scenes by building secret bunkers. The billionaires of the world were let in on the secret so they began building as well. The government held a secret lottery for everyone in the U.S. as did other countries. Among the lottery winners were hand selected medical professionals, engineers, professors, scientists, etc. the main character was one of the medical professionals selected. He is a paramedic who served in Afghanistan during the war on terror. The opening scene starts on a quiet snowy day, his wife and daughter are watching a Christmas movie while he grabs the snacks. (Skipping forward to not spoil anything) That night there was a break in. Two men killed his wife and daughter. Leaving him on the ground to bleed out after being shot. He wakes up being rolled down a bright hallway before passing out again. A few months go by and your screen fades to a therapy session he’s having about the break in. As the player you slowly realize you are in an underground bunker. A massive concrete city. As the game progresses you eventually get to leave the bunker and begin helping rebuild, but it’s not safe. Many people survived on the surface and many of them are violent. Looking to kill you on sight. Some not so much. Some formed cults who want to sacrifice you and some are cannibals who want to capture you. The world will be completely dynamic. Offering the ability to be a pacifist of you so choose. Every faction can be sided with even if it’s a death cult or group of looters. Once you leave the bunker the game is yours. The story will still progress regardless of who you side with. The map will be larger than anything you’ve ever played. If you want to be a hunter and just play the game like that you can. If you want to be a wildlife photographer you can do that too. There is no limit to what you can do in the game. After you beat the game there aren’t any end credits, you just continue playing how you want.

Most of Delta’s equipment is from the 90’s. It’s for a good reason too. The parts are cheap and the engines were built better than the new TUG’s. As for towbars the price depends on the aircraft type. I can’t give an exact dollar amount but I know one of our 175 towbars was close to $3k. You are correct I was hired as a ramp agent, however I was promoted to operations two and a half years ago. Which means I get to do all the fun stuff. Our station is one of those weird ones where everyone has to be trained on everything. We aren’t like the bigger stations that have dedicated staff for baggage. I assume you’re an AMT?
