I would prefer to have the battery install inside the triangle instead of under it, like the cottonmouth. It would allow versatility of different sized batteries I think.

There is the CM-Alpha1 frame which allows for the bolt on batteries. Capt. is riding the CM-Allha1

​​@@kb-rl1pneven that has a protrusion ment to house proprietary battery cases, those are simple chinese frames. not doubting the quality at all, but they are not something specifically built for strength and ease of mounting of the LR motor like you could've thought. they could've done better by sorting frames without any battery housing at all, but that would've been impossible considering that all pre made frames with a mid motor housing will always be predisposed for a battery. the frame you mentioned is the best compromise.

congrats to the whole high voltage group, you guys are doing amazing and bringing in the right people to contribute to this ev project. would be interesting to know whether this thing could house perhaps a big block.

Mike @ Lightning Rods can make almost anything happen. But the BB would stick out too far on the frame.

It would do a right hand drive version. 219 chain rather than belt probably need a custom rear hub but doable.

I am hoping all these parts become available to the public for purchase including a complete bike. Looks to be well engineered. When moving above 3K watts, makes a lot of sense to decouple motor power and rider derailleur as you have as traditional bicycle drivelines with single chain are ill equipped to harness the power of both when running big power. I second the comment from david below. Most into custom high power ebikes prefer an open triangle to mount a generic battery of choice versus having to conform to a specific form factor with redundant frame structure which is much more limiting in terms of battery cell configuration. Quite possible the future will even move away from 21700 cells as cell configuration continues to morph over time...just like 21700 cells are longer than 18650 requiring a wider battery case. Would be helpful not be constrained by a given cell length which translates into battery width. That Lighting Rods motor is the real deal. Thanks for your presentation.

Cheers Luke. The other frame version is open triangle which is on the build I have done. There is some riding footage of that. But essentially its the same drive train.

This really has my interest in so many ways! As long as it has the torque to get up still hills Im in! Now my next interest is to be able to add more batteries to add more distance.

That is cool. Any idea of how the powered drive chain would work with a rear suspension frame? I just checked some earlier videos and saw this bike used to have a chain tensioner system for it?

The frame was under development in the past video. We went back to the drawing board and redesigned the rear dropout to allow for adjustment. The adjustment has allowed us to get rid of the tensioner now. Less maintenance and much quieter now. The FS version is still being re-worked as well. Will be available later on after full testing is completed.

I would like that motor set up into a frame like the EROYbikes - the Arc Hero and the Arc Nemesis or even the Ristretto 512! If no one has seen what these bikes look like you will want to do a Google search on them. They are using 20' tires CNC-machined from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum before being paired with a KKE BF-34 double air crown fork and mono-shock! These are beautiful E-Bikes! The cotton mouth motor and set up looks simply awesome but we need as well a Ebike that is also awesome & unique way looking that doesn't look like every other Ebike! Its great to have the MTN Ebike looking like others but bring in as well something unique and more compact seting apart from what is already being done! Be able to add more batteries for distance! Excellent suspension and seat that feels really good sitting on And smaller more compact like the 20' tire Ebikes with a style not looking like evey other Ebike. Power, speed when you need it, Compact, Comfort and the ability to get incredible distance by adding a bigger battery or more but making it look good like the bikes I mentioned above.

Customer will use his own battery. Empty battery case can be provided for customer to have battery built to desired specs.

That's an amazing bike build guys its very well thought through with high end parts i like it🤘 I like how you did both sides for a future belt drive setup👍 (it'll be tricky to get both belt sizes right and the wheel straight if you put 2 belts on it, one on each side) I put a Rohloff speedhub 14 speed in one of my ebikes after the Chinese one it came with blew up being driven from a stock Bafang m620 motor and that thing is awesome 👌 nice one guys👌

Hello Ross, almost all of the torque is channeled via the left side of the bike, instead of the traditional right side. Yes future dual belt drive testing will be interesting to see.

Not in North America. It’s only Europe with such draconian restrictions and not everywhere either. It’s also self regulating so those Bosch motors they claim are 250 watt are in fact much higher in reality.

Must be individual path regulations then cause I don’t know of any Ebike classifications in the US with that limit. It’s 750 watts. Where are you located?

Well aware of the limitations of trail speed in different jurisdictions through out the US. The Cottonmouth design is nice because you can set the power levels to basically anything that would fit local laws and the ability to ride it analog as well. A friend of mine owns a sweet Corvette that will do 140mph in a 55mph zone. He makes the right decision to drive responsibly and follows the rules,although he is free to make his own bad decision to drive 140mph inappropriately. Just a thought.

What's the cost for a full spec with battery? Kinda like a better bitrix fs xd ebike.... So expensive tho 6k.... not worth if you could get a talaria or Surron for half off

I will ask them to post some numbers. 6kw is the power not the price. There are some other advantages to it over the Sur Ron / Talaria option as well as smoking them both off the line.

@@HighVoltageKits Lots of things like new different frame materials and overall design, better battery and drive systems and such. I am basically saying that it seems to me that new bike technology is not coming as fast as other areas of progress in this day and age.

Interesting. I think some of that is it’s being hindered by regulations. Not many companies are willing to put money into development of drive systems when the largest markets are so restricted in terms of use and capability. In terms of batteries I think things always evolve slowly but there are encouraging signs. Another reason is also the bicycle in general is such a refined concept. So many parts of it are optimized so for something to change it has to be better than what exists. I have seen lots of potentially cool gear boxes and belt systems. Yet they are insanely expensive and their benefit over a quality set of sprockets and derailleur is debatable. There is quite a bit of innovation in this bike though. The dual drive train means you can ride it like a regular bike at 250-750 watts and also enjoy much higher power when appropriate all on the same bike. Variable regen braking. I’ll go over some more in the next little bit. We have a tiny budget so pretty sure if the regulations were more friendly the bigger players would be doing more. Sadly much of the effort from Bosch and Shimano is to keep things as they are because that protects their market share.

lithium ion batteries are improving rapidly. Top manufacturers like molicel and samsung are releasing new cells year after year with higher capacity and performance under higher loads. The motor core used on this bike is not new, but the rest of the motor/drivetrain is constantly improving with every model being made.

@@ballpoint7887 reliable cells like the samsung 50s and molicel p45b are nice, but "improving rapidly" is giving the marketing of these companies way-way too much credit. specific energy has been stagnating for 15 years! there's very little. 265 watthours per kilo on the cell level is what we have. often there's a promise of more, and one by one every single one of these later turn out to be either outright lies or have a major thing about them that makes them un-workable at scale. the cells are also cheaper than they were 15 years ago, again this is great, but "improving rapidly"? are they really?
