The Ratchet DEG system was designed by taking a different angle than the common high engagement freehub systems, to deliver a smaller engagement angle and maximized reliability. The simultaneous full engagement of the ratchets provides a larger contact patch than pawl hubs and thus a more balanced load distribution, resulting in higher reliability. Two enlarged ratchets with 90 teeth offer the smallest engagement angle ever made in the DT Swiss portfolio: 4º. On the trail, this transmits into a different angle in the backlash. The small idle distance at the cranks allows for more direct acceleration, like out of corners, as well as the possibility to adjust the pedal position faster, like when overcoming obstacles on a technical uphill trail.

I don't see boost 157 as an option yet but that is the hub size for the Pivot in this video. When will it be available?

All sounds very good but as a consumer you can only base your opinion on your experience, my last pair of ERC1400 wheels were a nightmare to install tyres on, there was play in the rear hub from new and the front disc locking nut thread had been poorly cut causing the lock ring to bind up. Compared to my 2018 Prc1400 wheels the quality has gone down in my opinion. I returned the ERC wheels and purchased some 9Velo for 1/3rd of the cost and they are superb by comparison. 🤷‍♂️

What? No support for regular old type shimano cassette, there goes linkglide option.. will there be a 350 series little heavier version of deg?

Looks like still 6902 , it'll be a lot easier to remove the bearing on the ring nut side

Hi and thank you for your interest. We have specific e-MTB hubs available. Any of our hubs can be used as well in an e-Bike. But we would not recommend an 180 EXP or 240 EXP or the new 240 DEG for this. This is especially related to the fact that hubs with high engagement need more often a service. Nice, as the 240 Exp was crap. Ah now the bearing can be pulled without removing the ratchet ring....2 decades later....rather late than never right.

Hi and thank you for your comment. It was one of the reasons it took us that long to bring this product. But to go bigger was the only option to balance engagement and reliability. As a result it will not fit in any other DT Swiss hub. Friso "DT Swiss".

This is purely to counter Industry 9. Theres really no need for that degree of engagement. It does affect suspension performance in non hi pivot bikes.

High engagement is nice for multiple reasons! It’s cool to not care for it but to say it’s useless is just wrong. Hardtail riders like me don’t experience rear suspension issues with them. When i do get a full suspension I’ll still be riding high engagement bc i love the feeling. Makes tech-y moves much easier What i will say is once you’re around 4-5 degrees of engagement it’s basically instant. I would never see a need for actual instant engagement like I9 or onyx

I'm so tired of this PoE noisy hub BS. Quiet ultra durable hubs please. Old Shiamno 14pt ratchet was actually perfectly fine for most riders. Trials and racing, sure have lots of PoE, otherwise, just not necessary. More PoE = smaller teeth = faster wear
