Slow relaxing days in the garden are some of the very best memories I have as a child. I spent hours playing, making petal perfume, picking daisies and making daisy chains, helping my Daddy do the garden jobs, and always looking for fairies! As a child of the 80s, I was a little obsessed with Flower Fairies. They were magical, beautiful and fueled my imagination. I spent hours looking in old books and learning about flora and fauna - it was a magical time and I have such fond memories of these days. Simple living, simple pleasures - simply beautiful
I wanted my young girls to experience this fantastic childhood memory too, so we went looking for fairies in our English Cottage Garden - and we weren't disappointed!
Now I'm (a bit) older - there is a responsibility to look after the garden - but with that comes a new found love and understanding and appreciation of an English Garden - well, we English are well known for our love of gardens and gardening, right!. It's a very relaxing thing to do, it 'grounds' you (literally)and you can lose yourself amongst beautiful flowers, birds, tiny insects and your own memories or thoughts.
You don't need a garden to be able to appreciate these things - many local parks have wonderful flower beds and areas. Maybe you could try a window flower box to add some real life cottagecore to your house or apartment. I hope you're able to spend time outdoors, amongst flowers and maybe you'll spot a fairy too - if you're lucky! ;)
