Great video Dr. B!! I’ve been keto now 3 years and at 56 years old it has been the best eating lifestyle that has truly helped me keep the menopause belly fat off!!🙌🏻 Those that are thinking they can’t do it because they can never give up eating bread, I hear you years ago I was addicted to carbs, mostly pasta and having bread everyday… it’s been years since I’ve had bread and do not miss it at all! Not at all! Give it a chance… help your body change to a healthier weight and lifestyle! 🥳

Becky...5yrs keto now. The first month I put on 15lbs. Still haven't lost the gain. I would never make fake keto foods. Ever. I only add pure oils. Olive, avocado, algae etc. I eat pork but not bacon. 7-10 Oz's of greens. Lots of non starchy veg. Nuts and seeds. Water and coffee only. (Some herb teas) light weights and bicycle. Did I say I was 70?

I'm very interested in giving Keto a try. It's just my wife and I and we are seniors. My biggest problems with these videos is portion sizes. To some the cod dinner with greens might look like a meal for one. No, in this video it's a meal for 4. So, in reality you need to cut up the receipt in 4 portions. It'd be so nice if you could focus on meals for JUST 2 people!

I love your channel and these recipes do look delicious however I'm a little perplexed as to the incredibly low calories recommended in this daily combination of 3 meals.. Not even 1200 calories... I think if you're 5' tall and female and weigh a 105 pounds you might be able to get away with this so I would love in the future if you could specify who exactly this is good for... One disturbing trend I have noticed on a lot of KZfaq channels who talk about keto carnivore is how few calories people are eating... There are a lot of folks out there with eating disorders and and it's a slippery slope. I would love if you could make recommendations for a smaller sized female and a average to larger size male. I realize that may be more work for you and I apologize in advance for that request. But I really think it could be beneficial. Thank you. Keep up your great work

The smaller calories enables the body to utilise its own stored fat for fuel, thereby enabling people to lose weight. You won’t feel hungry on 1200 calories in this situation. I eat about 1000 calories st the moment while I am overweight and feel great. If you don’t need to lose weight then you need to increase your fat content if your calories are insufficient.

I'd like to suggest a true low carb diet. The menus shown appear to be more a vegetarian diet with a small amount of seafood or lean poultry thrown in. Not a good menu for a two hundred pound working man. My day starts with one or two eggs and sausage or other pork product and perhaps a slice of zero carb toast. If I've got plenty of time I might cook an omelet with bacon and cheese and a few bits of peppers. Some days I go all out and fix pancakes that are primarily whipped eggs whites along with yolks mixed with a quarter cup carb quick, melted butter, a splash of heavy whipping cream, and vanilla extract. Cook on a griddle to make french toast tasting pancakes served with more butter and zero carb syrup. About one carb per large pancake. Lunch is one or more of the following foods, tuna, sardines, poultry, boiled eggs, cheese, small amounts of pickled vegetables. If I don't mind giving up my evening vegetables I might make a salad for lunch. You're allowed up to two and a half cups of salad. First toss away any iceberg lettuce. You want nutritious foods. I like a mix of small greens, mustards, kale, chard, spinach, cabbage. Perhaps a few bits of broccoli or cauliflower. Now add boiled eggs, cheese, ham or poultry or a seafood. I didn't include tomatoes, peppers or onions. They are all medium carb foods and not low carb so you're only allowed small portions of them. Then I prefer oil and vinegar as a dressing but Newman's offers a wide variety of dressings that come in at around one carb per tablespoon. Dinner. Around 6 oz. of meat or seafood. Along with that I serve two half cup servings of low carb vegetables as side dishes. To really be considered low carb a side of a vegetable should come in at 5 carbs or less per half cup serving. For higher carb foods reduce the serving size down to keep your serving at under 5 carbs. Total net carbs for the day around 12. It's my habit to cook most foods in butter for the added fats although for most fresh greens I add bacon fat to the greens instead. Also butter or cheese can be added to many cooked vegetables. After 30 years of eating low carb I've come to the conclusion that for most of us the more meat and seafood and the less plant materials we eat the better for our health. I think my cardiologist will agree. I'm 74 and just had a mri stress test done that came back negative. I've shown my doctor just what foods I eat and what I don't. He said it looked good to him. I'm still active walking several miles a day and my weight is just where I want it. Low carb makes it easy to control my weight by how much food I actually eat per day.

Once you are fat adapted which you should be, start adding 5-8 carbs each day, until you stop losing weight(if that's your goal) most people can stay in ketosis with 50 -100 carbs, also if you are female you need to have one week a month with no fasting and at least 100 carbs to help build and keep hormonal balance

Of course, if I got off KETO and IF for a week, I could accomplish this, but I've come this far and don't want to mess it up. I'm also on a fixed budget and can't afford a lot of meat.

Heavy Whipping Cream. It is totally keto friendly, full of fat, and very versatile. Actually, most of us have to avoid it to keep the weight off

Heavy whipping cream is high fat and will help you gain weight but it will be fat vs. muscle. If you are too lean that might be good. On the other hand if you'd like to gain weight in the form of muscle, I would recommend higher protein foods such as eggs, egg whites, canned tuna, cod, halibut, haddock, canned salmon, ground turkey, ground chicken, higher fat ground beef, etc. I've listed some of the higher protein foods. Some folks also up their carbs in the form of veggies so that is a possible option too. And you can also add more fat to the protein in the form of butter or coconut/olive oil perhaps some cheese, etc. or make a sauce for one of your proteins with HWC, butter, and some parmesan cheese. Nut butters are also an option as they have both protein & fat.
