Had a first crack at it last year, didn't realise how long they needed to cure for, thats why i was having burning issues. Don't have the resources right now to ferment but i'm only growing for rolling tobacco however i want to try and make cigars at some point. Was sort of experimenting where i put the leaves in jars just before they became too dry and would leave them in the sun for a few hours and let them breath for a few hours. Jars would get warm and very wet thought there may have been some kind of process going on, the leaves darkened a fair bit after a few weeks. Had them in sealed bags for 6 months then went to smoke and had burning issues but tasted quite nice, very smooth. Moved them from jars and had them drying in my room again but got too dry so i've just been misting them. Been air curing in my room for a few months just put them back into some sealed bags with a few boveda bags. Without any fermenting processes and just air curing, how long do you reckon it'll need before it can be smoked in cigarettes?

without any kind of conditioned curing, probably a good idea to leave for at least 6 months. Just bung it in an unheated airing cupboard with a spritz of distilled/boiled (cooled) water 1-2 times a month.

Tbh. I haven't really got one. Just a cool place and kept humid (I like to use a large ziplock bag with a humidifier in). Depends on the type of bacci. For cigars- never rush and keep the leaves whole. For cigarettes you can shred or chop up - tends to be a lot quicker. For pipe bacci, somewhere in between. Hope this helps

This was brilliant, thanks mate I've just subscribed. I'm going to have a bash at this next year. I'm based in the UK. Can you sell me any that you've made? I'm on a mission for additive free pipe tobacco. Loads of people online seem to think you NEED additives or else it's a terrible smoke. I take it you've had some good results? Really like the idea of making some Sheesha tobacco. Great vid, thanks again.

Thanks mate! Much appreciated! Typically no as there are tax implications etc. Some pipe tobacco online is listed as "additive free". Most have a small amount of preserving agent but not all. Hope this helps.

So by law if I grew tobacco I have to pay duty 😂😂😂😂😂, that’s the best one I ever heard 🤪🤪🤪
@Jasongvl
@Jasongvl 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it's true. A quote from the gov legislation- "2.10 Private individuals and payment of duty on tobacco products made from tobacco grown themselves A private individual must pay the duty on any tobacco products that they make from tobacco which they have grown. This applies whether the tobacco products are intended for sale or solely for the grower’s own consumption."

There are a variety of sites for leaves- just search for "whole leaf tobacco". Myself- on this video I grew these from seeds and plugs which are readily available online- just check in your country for legality/ tax implications. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps.

Hey Jason, advice me how to make strong shisha tobacco? I handle the flawor, but it wasnt strong enough, or it wasnt strong at all. My method: I wash the tobacco, dry it, boiled in molasses on 140-170 °C for 4-7 minutes. After cool down to like 70-80 °C and keep it on this degree for 24 hours.
@Jasongvl
@Jasongvl 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. If you want it stronger you can boil it less- this removes less of the nicotine. Or boil it at a lower temp. If still not satifactory there are shisha nicotine drops you can buy to put in it (but I wouldn't recommend it).

@@Jasongvl yea awesome, btw if you are interested in some methods, I tried the method mixing sugar syrup or molasses with glycerin. The effect is super Smokey. One more thing, I tried aroma wich was made for DIY, for mixing your own vape. The result was fantastic. For example brand Vapetasia, chek it out.

Sorry to bother, but I'm struggling with something, I have shredded tobacco, but it isn't pipe just shredded, I make cigarettes of my own with it, I was wondering if you could advise me on the process of changing it's flavor, I am a newbie at this, but I thought of just spraying it with Cacao powder and mixing it up, or Vanilla, but then I got told that water may mold it so will sugar so I should spray it with alcohol, if that's so then 1. What alcohol should I use? 2. What is the process of changing the flavor of it? 3. If it isn't possible to change it's flavor to cacao or vanilla, then how can I just make it taste better naturally? I know this is asking for too much, but thnx anyways.
@Jasongvl
@Jasongvl 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Pipe tobacco can be in typically plug, flake, long cut-like strands, shredded or shag. The traditional way of flavouring is just by ageing the tobacco to mature the taste whilst keeping it at a 60ish% humidity for cigars, around 40% for pipes and 30-40% (in my opinion for cigarettes). But for flavourings the easiest way to to just buy premixed tobacco flavour sprays as they have anti-mould liquids in and so it keeps. I personally don't smoke much flavoured tobacco unless it is in a shisha pipe (which is a whole other game). Hope this helps.

I really need some help here! Can someone answer my questions, please? I live in Brazil and i'm doing a garden in my yard, that means i can't do flue-curing, or fire-curing. Sun-curing woul'd be ideal because here in Brazil is a very, very hot place with a low humidity (35%). Rains only in two in two months. The problem is that i don't like the tabaccos used in sun-curing, too spicy and need alot of aging. So, in Brazil the climate per day is about 110 fahrenheit daily, could I do some air-curing? Is that possible? I mean, wind is pretty low here but we have alot of sun. I don't know what seed i should plant... virginia gold for trying air-curing? Nope, right? Latakia i don't like and its sun-cured. I just have Burley and Maryland for air-curing, woul'd be good, works in my climate? Ty!
@Jasongvl
@Jasongvl 6 жыл бұрын
I would say Virginia tobacco would be the most ideal for that attempt. To be honest, if you can grow the plant large and produce a good raw product, just try a method for a large leaf each, then try them all. The following year or two go for that method. Saves wasting a lot of hard work for nout. HTH :)
