Charmaine Fenton had no idea that when her 18-year-old son, LJ Latham, left to hang out with a friend on the evening of April 11th, 2023, that would be the last time she ever saw him. LJ’s body was discovered days later, naked and floating face down in a nearby lake. In this episode of TSR Investigates, we have exclusive footage from a nearby surveillance camera showing LJ moments before he disappeared. According to authorities, the cause of death was accidental drowning, and LJ’s friend was unable to provide any additional information. However, Fenton claims the manner of death does not make sense because LJ was an avid swimmer, and now she’s begging for the Miramar Police Department to reopen the case. These kids (my nephew included) need to understand that you take a HUGE RISK with weed and any street drugs now. Weed may be legal in some states, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t laced. We lost a family member (17) due to laced drugs. Also, doesn’t matter how good they are, how accomplished they are, they’re going to try things out of curiosity. That’s a F a c t‼️

I've heard & seen this story a couple of months ago. The information that was presented on TSR was more. Thanx! I know the mom blamed the friend. So, what I thought was that the friend was guilty! But, reading statements & seeing videos has me believing something else. What I do know is that the friend's parents should've made sure that their son went to LJ's mom & explain all that he knows. He first went home and told his parents. Then he lied to the mom via text. I can understand him being scared but the parents should've been on him abt this! These are supposed to be grown ups. What happened to doing the right thing!?

I highly doubt the friend's son went to his parents and told them that he and LJ bought weed and LJ got mad, walked off, and perhaps started tweaking from the weed. It seems like the friend, out of fear, may have downplayed the situation to his parents at first. The parents were likely under the impression that LJ stormed off and were not aware of the grave danger he was iI.

@TomikaKelly It was not laced the medical exam showed that, this could have been prevented the boy lied to lj mom he most likely lied to his parents but still as adults they should have called his mother once their son told them lj was missing any smart parent would have been like, wait he left his car and phone so you drove his car here and you haven't seen him since ok its time to call his mother and the police. But they didn't do that they went to "search" for him as they claim and when they couldn't find him they went home and went to sleep all while he was in a lake dead. I don't know if you have kids but I really hope you don't because to sit here and actually blame lj mom for her son death like wow I hope you never experience this pain because you're in every comment basically shaming lj mom and defending this Jalen kid and his parents. You claim it wasn't Jalen parents job to look after another women's child but idgaf if it's not my child if my kid is out with someone else's kid I will call to make sure they're all good and if I get wind that one of them is not ok I will contact the parents and do everything in my power to make sure that child is mines or not.

@@summertime8879He said that there was nothing in his system that was of a hallucinatory nature. The toxicology detected cannabinoids in his system but it was unsuitable for analysis.

@@sandrapollard2541 The truth is, people need to open up their eyes about who their kids are and what they're doing. LJ was illegally buying Marijuana and smoking in a park after it was legally closed, and he freaked out after. The drowning was ruled an accident, NOT a homicide.

@@TomikaKellyJalen knew how to how to fly an air plane very young, he was in his way to college at 18 and he had a gifted personality, plus he was handsome. That so called friend even used to go over his house and eat and his parents let him got on vacation with them. He got envious of the love his family gave him. Period.

I am so relieved that LJ's case is getting attention. I pray she gets justice for her son. A good friend would have called his mother and said he is acting crazy come help. The friend drove LJ's car back to pick up his parents then drove the car back and parked it in front their own house as if nothing was wrong, seriously. #JusticeforLJ

His friend probably was only thinking about getting in trouble himself. So, he lied about what was going on. But, once he informed his parents they should have called his mother. His parents sound dumb, which explains why the friend also made the dumb decision to lie.

A good son wouldn't have been smoking weed that he illegally bought on a continuous basis in a park after it has already closed. The friend freaked out and ran to his parents. The parents didn't think LJ was unalive. Most people wouldn't in this situation. The mom isn't taking accountability for her son's recklessness.

Something happen, (between him and his friend) which made him walk off..... Its something more to this story, and the friend is not informing LJ Mother. NO! It's important for people to understand how drugs and medications work. You and I can smoke the exact same blunt and have 2 different reactions depending on a variety of factors such as weight, size, frequency of use, genetics, etc. Len Bias used coke infrequently and died. Some people abuse coke for decades and still live. My father was on the same medication for 20 years. One morning he took it and had to be rushed to the ER because he'd developed an allergic reaction to it. Whenever you're ingesting something, you never know how you'll react to it even if you've taken it 100 times before, ESPECIALLY if it's an illegal substance.

I think the parents underestimated the severity of the situation. They made a poor decision, but I think they GENUINELY thought LJ was just mad about something. Either way, it's not their job to watch over someone else's kid.

I believe he had a bad reaction to the weed you could see him walk away alone. You never see the friend. The friend is a young boy trying to look out and cover up them smoking. He didn’t expect it to turn out how it did. I would be upset if it was my son but don’t blame the friend. He made a poor decision in that moment.

Different strains of marijuana affect people differently. His reaction vs. his friend’s could even come down to him inhaling more into his lungs than his friend did. Someone I know was smoking a medical grade sativa strain with a friend and had a similar reaction to LJ. He got really hot and a little paranoid, and felt the urge to go outside to cool off. His friend kept an eye on him because he had enough experience smoking to know that the best thing to do at that time was wait it out.
