Comfortably Numb's my favourite song of all time, but I agree with you. I think the first CN solo is David's best (the tone and emotion is beyond all else), two of the solos in Dogs, and this one are right up there as well. I'd put In Any Tongue and the instrumental album closer for Rattle That Lock in the conversation too.

sevsimo, I highly recommend ENTIRE ALBUM REACTIONS. Floyd albums are CONCEPT albums. The Wall is a ROCK OPERA. ANIMALS is loosely based off of Orwell's book Animal Farm. You'll find that each track SEGUES from one to another. I'm 60 years old and in my day you'd drop the NEEDLE on the VYNL and listen from start to finish of SIDE A and then flip it over to side B and do it again. LOVE THE CHANNEL. ✌

sevsimo, I agree with your TAKE on David Gilmore's guitar playing. David does more with fewer notes then SLASH & EDDIE combined. You can definitely hear Gilmore's INFLUENCE on ADAM JONES (TOOL). Jones was in high school when THE WALL came out. No one puts out an ALBUM like FLOYD and TOOL.✌

Hi Sevsimo - Thank you for this. The part at the end where you say they slowed down a bit was actually a segue to a reprise of another song on the album. It's very odd at first when you become aware of this, but the album itself is structured as a whole, not as a collection of disparate compositions.

I think the most remarkable thing about Pink Floyd is. Yeah Dark Side is probably the greatest album of all time. But the next three after that seem to get better. More clever. More inspiring. More life changing. And then David takes over and he elevates himself into the heavens as a God. With Nick and Richard of course. What happened with Roger is always gunna happen. He's such a firebrand. He achieved what him and Syd set out to do. Ridicule and embarrass Fascists. Five beautiful and amazing souls. It all comes from young lads growing up and looking across the channel to a terrifying Europe.

The space the other instruments leave for the drums in the intro, and the amount of space that the drums define in the soundscape is one of the best arrangement and production choices I've ever heard. So the ending verse of the song, where they slow it down, is actually a reprisal of a prior track on the album, Breathe. This is just one reason a lot of people call for the album to be listened to all in one go; it's definitely the *best* way to enjoy it, but understandably a full-album reaction would be a much bigger undertaking. But I do wholeheartedly suggest you listen to the full thing sometime, just for yourself. After you've reacted to the songs individually you plan to. No camera or commentary to worry about, just you, music, and a fresh candle if you need it.

Their albums Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Animals and the Wall were all composed as whole albums with amazing stories to tell, you need to hear the whole thing to really get it. For those who may not know how the basic tick tock sound was made in this song, not the multiple chimes and alarms but the tick tock, tick tock. When I learned how it was made it was just one more among many examples of why Roger Water's is a genius at his craft of making the listener feel rather than just hear the bass in Pink Floyd songs. The tick tock, tick tock is simply Roger Water's muffling his strings with one hand and picking two strings back and forth mimicking the seconds ticking on a clock! I love these reactions!

I will never forget seeing Dark Side live in the old Boston Garden in 1975, they had a 5 channel PA with channels up in the left, right and center rear balconies so the sound was truly coming from 5 directions and was overwhelming at times. If you want to stay in the time question, I suggest "Zeit" (time in German) from Rammstein. The video is, once again, amazing. 😉

Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands. They are responsible for so many masterpieces. I see you also appreciate the masterpiece. So I have to suggest another from a different artist that you may not get recommended by most. The artist's name is Sully Erna, the song is called 7 years. Sully is the leas singer in the band Godsmack also. I know you will love this song and regret not having it in your life sooner. I'd love to see the reaction!! I love your videos!!

This is my favorite PF song just edging out Comfortably Numb, but they're both probably in my top ten or fifteen all-time. They're just one of the greatest bands of all-time. The older I get, the more I love them.

69 and Ummagumma were my intro to Pink Floyd, that album was shocking even with all the other eclectic music being produced at the time. The Live CD is what sold me on them. The studio experimentation on CD 1 was weird, even for them but always loved The Narrow Way.

The Narrow Way and Grantchester Meadows definitely hold a place in the Floyd canon, imo. Early samples of what was to come, if you asked me.

@@ianfortier6796 Yeah, forgot to mention the acoustic tune, they are harbingers of sounds to come. I want someone to react to the Narrow Way for sure.
