A-Pillar Trim Removal, Toyota Corolla 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021

How to remove the A-Pillar trim on a 2014-2018 Toyota Corolla. The procedure is similar on 2019-2021 Corollas, except there are two clips with a hook instead of one.

This is exactly what I needed to see! I'm giving my girlfriend a hand-me-down dashcam now that I upgraded, and I wanted to be extra careful with her car when I installed it.

Nice! I was doing this to add a wire for stereo mic. I taped the wire on the existing wire bundle, just to make sure it doesn't interfere with the airbag.

@@CleverFixthat's exactly what I plan on doing with the cables for the rear-facing cam, but I'll probably use zipties to secure them to the wire harness! Thanks again, the up close shots and demonstrations are beyond helpful.

Your videos provide great detail on topics that could be obscure for most people. Not many would ever need to remove this trim part but boy if they do - yours is THE video to watch. Excellent content.

I appreciate the comment! Removing the trim is useful for running a dashcam, microphone, or antenna wire to the top of the windshield. I'll have an aftermarket stereo install video coming soon, and I had to remove the trim to run the microphone wire.

Do you know if the 2024 Camry A pillar trim comes off with the same clips? Excellent demonstration. Very detailed and very clear instruction on how to remove and reinstall.

Ecellent video! do you have a video for B-Pillar trim removal? I have a persitant rattle at the bottom of my passenger side B-pillar that goes away when I apply pressure to the trim.

you dont need to remove battery terminal to remove the pillar?

I only see one reason I see to do that, which would be to prevent an accidental airbag deployment. Modern cars control the airbag with the computer and multiple sensors, so there's a very very low chance for the airbag to deploy by mistake. If you feel better disconnecting it, then you can do it, and there will be a 0% chance of anything happening. Using sharp tools around there may cause an issue with the airbag, however, I'm not using any tools in the video, so I feel pretty safe myself. So my answer would be, do what feels safe for you.

Sorry, you're doing it wrong. Once the trim is removed, remove the clips from the pillar and insert them to the trim. Now with the clips attached to the trim, simply push trim with clips into the holes of the pillar.

It can't be "wrong" if it works. This video is a "no tools" video. Have you actually removed those clips from the pillar? Did you need a tool?.. I can't see how that can be done without a tool.. they have two tabs that must be pressed at the same time to release.

If you did that all with no tools, and it was easier, then that's great, makes putting it back easier. I noticed removing the clip is not so easy, and didn't want to add another step of pulling clips with pliers, which could damage them.. Some people are really pulling on those clips on other videos.

@@CleverFix It was amazingly easy. If I remember corrctly, I just pushed one tab with a screwdriver and the clip came off instantly.

@@loudlouder7729I found it took a little work, but it did come out once I pressed both sides down. I didn't want any tools, especially a screwdriver, next to the airbag for the video though. One slip with a sharp tool can be very costly. Thanks for the comment!
