hi, my Optimus Nova+ pump filter is missing. I’ve been searching but seems it’s not sold separately anywhere (not included in the repair kits either). do you have any suggestions what to replace it with or where to buy it without the whole pump?

the little white round filter that fits at the end of the fuel line? It IS Included with the kit, it's at the beginning of the video next to the leather cup.

Hi, thanks for the Video. But why don't you just unscrew the Sparkplug connector from the cable to get the cable through without disassemble so much?
@CleverFix
@CleverFix 5 күн бұрын
They don't always unscrew, they have some glue from the factory preventing the wire from unscrewing. The same on the other side at the coil.. the wire is screwed into the coil, but then they put glue on top of it. So it's best not to mess around with a part like that.. If yours turns and comes out easily from the connector, then it's different than the one I had.

I don't trust alignment shops in general, but especially with my car which shops have a reputation of damaging when they lift it improperly. Even if that wasn't a concern, I just like to do things myself as much as possible. Good alignment shops are expensive because they take their time and charge you hourly. They also have higher paid employees that understand suspension and figure out all the adjustments on your car, not just the tie rods. The quick ones with a flat rate just want to get you out the door and tend to be sloppy. This is a great explanation of how to work out the toe angle yourself. I'm going to take this video's advice and try fishing line. I did this once before with a roll of colored yarn, but that's not as precise. The only thing I disagree with is I'd rather avoid relying on published specifications for the track width. Especially since if I'm not mistaken, the track width is based on the center of the wheels, not the edges, so if the front/rear wheels are different it could alter the measurement. I'd rather set up a perfect rectangular box which doesn't rely on assumptions of what the track width is supposed to be. However, in order to do that you have to draw a diagram, be careful with the geometry and fiddle around with lots of repeated measurements to get it perfectly correct. The front and back of each string need to be equidistant, while simultaneously getting the same differential between the string and the front and rear wheels. If front is 2mm farther on one side, it must also be 2mm farther on the other side, while the strings also are equal distance from each other at front and rear. Basically you establish enough measurements to guarantee the strings are parallel to the car's centerline, because otherwise at least some of these measurements would fail (if you draw it on paper then it makes sense). It takes a lot longer to get the box set up perfect than it does to measure the toe afterward.
@CleverFix
@CleverFix 10 күн бұрын
Yes, shops will get it in our and quickly, and electronic alignment machines can be off sometimes. You're right, track width is measured from the center line of each tire, and if the tires have different widths then it will matter, but if the tires are the same width on front and back, that will not make a difference, since I'm subtracting them. You might be interested in a kit like this: calipergarage.com/products/basic-string-alignment-kit Or build something similar with bars to hold the strings perfectly equidistant on the front and back. Thanks for the feedback, and hope your alignment goes well!

I'm wondering; how many km your 2014 Corolla do have to need a water pump replacement? My 2014 only have 106,000km with, I do guess, the original coolant. Keep coming your verry valuable videos, regards
@CleverFix
@CleverFix 14 күн бұрын
They should last about 160,000KM, but may fail early. The bearing on mine was still in good shape, but the pulley got all those deposits from my loose serpentine belt, and I'd rather not take the chance up to 160,000. Having to pay for coolant all over again and do all that work again is not worth it, especially if it goes in the winter. The Aisin pump is OEM quality and cheap enough that I would do this every time I change the coolant, just to be sure. I used to wait for problems to happen, but I'm starting to proactively replace parts, so I don't get stuck without a car. Unfortunately everything fails eventually, and if a water pump fails and starts leaking, the car won't be going far.

Hi, why need the same amount drain and fill in?
@CleverFix
@CleverFix 15 күн бұрын
When you drain coolant from the system, air pockets can form in the cooling passages and hoses. By refilling the system with the same amount of coolant that was drained, you ensure that there are no air pockets trapped in the system, which can cause overheating. Of course this assumes that the previous fill was done properly, and there was no air trapped to begin with. If there was already air inside, then more coolant should fit inside.

Your videos are always a lot of value; simple, right to the point with a very appropriate list of tools and references for parts. I' m wondering about tires on your 2014 Corolla; how do like, or not so much, the Kumho (PA 51 ???) about handling, adherence, noise and durability. Thank you, Regards
@CleverFix
@CleverFix 15 күн бұрын
The Kumho PA51's are great!! I've been using Kumho for the last 15 years at least.. I started with the Ecsta Supra 712 which were amazing summer tires. I really like Kumho for summer and all season. I haven't tried their winters, but I've been completely happy with handling, noise, durability and performance. You wouldn't believe how good the 712's were, I was quite amazed. I've had a lot of brands, and been disappointed many times, even by big name brands, but never by Kumho. Nokian is also the best for winter, although expensive, so I went with General last time, which are OK because they're super durable. I don't use the PA51s in the winter, because we get a lot of snow sometimes, but they were fine with very light snow. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I'll have more videos soon.

@@CleverFix Thank you for your answer. I did appreicate a lot cvt oil replacement from your video, very valuable. As per tire, thank you for the precision about Kumho. I live in Province of Québec, where there is ''also'' winter driving condition and I bought Gislaved Nord-Frost 200 (no studs) (not feeling/needing the Nokian price wise) and I like them very much, I'm not a slow driver and I like to ''drift'' a little even at retirement age. @@denhackle8020Yes Nokian is very expensive, I only mention them because I was blown away by the traction they had in deep snow. I didn't think it's even possible to get that much traction on snow. The PA51s are from QuattroTires online, from Quebec! Best prices on tires are always from Quebec. I might try Gislaved at some point, I've never tried them. Thanks for mentioning it. All the best and thanks for the comments!

About Gislaved Nord-Frost 200 (no studs) after some research and emails with Gislaved (and other manufacturers) and knowing a little about cars in general, I went with the Nord-Frost because they are a ''compromise'' (as everything) between snow tire (very large biting snow blocks) and ice tire (very narrow lamelling) First snow, I went to shopping mall parking (after hours) to try them out and also on streets an backroad where I live (when NO ONE around) and tried them about general traction and braking with full ABS braking and they suite my needs for my type of driving and my environment/where I live. About ABS; when winter (snow) arrive I always test ABS to full to make sure all the piston inside the ABS pump work and do this many times in the +/- 5 winter months with snow. Some people never do this and with time, ABS pistons can ''stuck'' because they never work and you loose the ABS benefit and then need to find a place knowing how to ''unstuck'' ABS piston, very rarely needing to replace the entire ABS pump. Tire prices; yes, surprisingly low in Province of Québec compare to elsewhere.

@@CleverFix About PA51 and a newer version with Solus TA51a (91 H); after questionning Kumho with many emails about the differences and my usual driving, I purchase the TA51a, expecting a little less rolling resistance and hoping road handling in curves will keep me smiling and braking will keep me safe. About rolling resistance, how is your average L/km and on highway L/km? I did Montréal to Pearson Toronto airport (almost 1,200km total) car computer show a surprising 5,4 L/100km even at some ''spirit'' pace but city winter driving go up to almost 7L/100km. Thank you for your detailed video. I just finished changing the belt with the help of this video. Thank you for including information such as socket size and torque level. I do want to add that it's optional to jack up the car and take off the splash guards from the bottom. You can easily, and I repeat easily, do this job with the splash guards on. The only exception would be if you have very thick arms like a body builder or a very over weight person, then you might want to take off the splash guards. I'm skinny and I have skinny arms. I did find the need for an extender for the lower socket specially when tightening it back up. I used a metal pipe to help loosening the upper and lower bolts. Please remember to use a torque wrench when tightening the bolts back. This job was actually kind of fun, in part because of the good design that Toyota made, and also because of this video that Clever Fix uploaded for us. Please give this guy a thumbs up.

can i use 40:1 in a 50:1 leaf blower? My echo revs up good and will idle but sometimes it just dies. Can the fuel ratio really be to blame?
@CleverFix
@CleverFix 27 күн бұрын
40:1 will give you more lubrication, but also more deposits and smoke. I don't like adding more oil than required because of the smoke/smell. Has the carburetor been cleaned recently? I would suspect the carburetor. I have a video on that: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqmkbLSBmdGphok.html If the carburetor is very slightly clogged, it could cause it to shut off randomly when letting go of the gas. Make sure the spark plug is gapped correctly and in good shape as well.
