Watching you cut that watermelon was painful 😂🤣 1. Cut it up in half 2. Take one half and put it flat side down on the cutting board 3. Cut it all up in slices like an inch thick with the rind 4. Take each piece and very easily slide your knife to take the rind off. I hope this is clear 😅 Felt like I had to help a sister out

My biggest issue is neighbors that don’t care… put non-recyclables in their recycle bin, trash from trash bin blows into the street and they don’t pick it up. The worst yet is they hire someone to spray pesticides and we then find dead rats in our yard, and they don’t take care of any of the yard. It’s over grown and unkept (and not in a “intentional native habitat way” in a “we are too lazy our yard is full of invasive weeds” way). It’s so frustrating!

Joined our local wildflower seed library in the fall. It is so fun discovering all of our native plants and the beauty of them. Slowly transitioning my garden to natives and getting rid of the grass. Found out this winter how problematic grass/lawns are and it made my decision to transition to a native garden all the more solidified in my mind. This was such a fun video… reminded me of the vlog channel🥰🥰🥰

Some unsolicited advice: If you’re going to blend-up the watermelon anyway, cut in half like you did then just SCOOP OUT THE RED FRUIT PART WITH A BIG SPOON! 🍉 can scoop it into the blender.

Me and my wife had a huge tree fall down in our yard last summer during a tornado. We did what we could to protect our house from the damage BUT I was steadfast in leaving the majority of it though for the animals to use. One year later the mother tree is SPROUTING FROM HER “ dead,” TRUNK! We have seen a woodchuck yesterday too! We live in a city so this means there’s to me.

Uhgg you are truly such an inspiration to me when it comes to building community. Ditto on introversion and feeling like nobody likes me. My husband is also introverted and not super socially motivated, so we're too content at home to push each other to get out there and meet new people. My social anxiety has gotten so much better after having kids (no idea what that's about, maybe hormonal, but I am truly so much less anxious since about halfway through my pregnancy 2.5 years ago. It's like magic) I live in a small town and it seems like the only community available is through church groups, and that is not me. Period. I would love to be a part of a nature / environmental group but it feels like I would have to start it myself, and that just feels completely impossible, not only because then I would have to speak and lead (I have never had a desire to be a leader) but because I'm a working mom of three and just don't have the time. I'm not sure what my point is overall, I guess I'm just putting a wish out into the universe that an environmental activism / nature and family centric group would start up in Spooner Wisconsin without me having to be the one to start it..... 🙏🤞

I love your yard! Mine looks very similar, with the single caveat that it’s focused on Food plants. Most berries that you can imagine, a few fruit trees and then raised beds for lettuce and herbs and tomatoes and all that kind of stuff. But more and more perennial overtime. And I have had no lawn for some years now we’ve done the same in previous houses. Wouldn’t go back for love nor money!

I always cut a watermelon by cutting the ends off, putting one of the new flat sides down, and cutting the rind off top to bottom. Or if you can't get a clean cut all the way to the bottom, you can stop where it starts rounding out the other way. Then flip it back over and trim the rind you missed, also cutting top to bottom. Boom, you've got a naked melon! Then you can slice it however you like. Also I can't imagine cutting sitting down. Especially something so big. I feel like you need the leverage of height to properly cut it. But maybe that's just because I've worked in kitchens so much, it's hard to image sitting down and working lol

Absolutely love your vlogs. I always learn so much. I have a very small patio and wanted some darker flowers and plant but I really feel like I should incorporate some native stuff because I never see any butterflies or birds. i hear those birds in the trees around but never in my patio. I have to deal with HOA so hopefully they don't get annoying because they have some pretty dumb rules around here. Prior in my patio they have just mulch so I consider any plant a win.

With any pulp I always make it into an applesauce. Sometimes not even adding apples and only using the pulp fruit and adding sugar, honey or agave to flavor it if it’s not as sweet as you’d like it to be and then I keep it refrigerated. It usually doesn’t last very long in my home as my husband eats it all in one day. 😂🍉

Cutting 🍉 *without* the rind: 1. Cut it in half (hamburger style) on a stable surface 2. Cut the end off one of the halves (about an inch or until you can see color) 3. Place it with the end side up so it has a stable base 4. Cut slowly down rotating the knife to follow the watermelon’s curve (you will get better with practice) 5. Keep rotating the watermelon so that you get the whole rind off, then cut it as you like. Repeat with second half. 6. If you want cubes, have a bowl/platter ready before you cube. Then cut down into flat sections, place any excess into the bowl if you need space to cube each section. *I gave you super detailed directions because I had to pause the video when I saw you struggling. I hope it helps please make a stable base before chopping round things that can slip and hurt you. 😮‍💨 I’m glad you did it! And p.s. you definitely don’t talk too much!

I use up not so good watermelon by cubing it and freezing them for margaritas. You can use the pulp for slushies and make either non-alcoholic. It’s such a great ice replacement! Also works with pineapples 🍍! You can make piña coladas with its juice instead of rum, btw. Highly recommend! 💗
