This is very true. Most people at 45+ age bracket are sucked into some administrative / supervisory/ committee role in addition to their regular duties or have to report directly to higher management on daily basis. Now such high level meetings are usually post work hours (fixed as such by top bosses) so that you get juiced both ways. To make it all worthwhile, you get some fancy nameplate and some "namastey" from lower employees. If it continues, the family finds some other pastime to cope with a (usually) absent member and perishes in neglect only to be resuscitated at the retirement speech by inviting them and saying "my family is responsible for my success" without realizing that success and status ends the day after retirement and the loss is far too great to even think about undoing

Sango finally laid out the bare truth about 9-5. The youngsters as well as elders need to understand that 9-5 is not evil. Even if someone wants to become rich, he/she needs to earn money. And 9-5 forces you to upskill yourself and step out of your comfort zone and discipline yourself. You earn from your 9-5, save, invest. And then you can start a side hustle. Even a business requires capital and you first need to land on your feet to do all these. 9-5 may not be glorious, but it helps you earn your bread and butter in a stable fahsion. Unless of course you're brainwashed by these internet scammers and believe 9-5 is evil...
@amsa107610 ай бұрын
Agreed and even while doing business one would need 9-5 employees while scaling up. That's what these internet scammers won't tell you.
@metfreak10010 ай бұрын
9-5 isnt bad or evil.its necessary for growth and direction.but toxic work culture is evil, where you can be bullied etc and no support system in place, and there are serious manipulators in organisation.
@albussd10 ай бұрын
True, but not in entirety. While it is true that we have to work in the job system, but that is only out of necessity. That does NOT mean that jobs don't take away a lot out of your life in exchange for that recurring and predictable thing that we call salary for our livelihood. The key here is to understand that jobs are not "evil" per se, but it's also not at all a good system to spend your life doing. It is a NECESSITY. Period. Nobody does jobs and endure hardships by choice, only out of necessity. The people that get too lovey dovey with the job system start living too much in comfort zone and for that they pay a big price all their life. Again, it's important to recognize that jobs take a lot out of us and there is a large percentage of people for whom jobs are just not suited. And in any case, there is no such thing as 9-5, so it's inaccurate to call it that. It's more like 7-8.

Hmm let me give my take as a person who is working in a remote set-up since 7 years, 9-5 work pattern is good for those who had a good jump-start in "A" or "B" tier companies and those who spend 2-3 years in that type of organization get a good rock to jump on in a similar cadre company. The bad thing is that one gets caught up in an glass door culture atmosphere, a person with no nonsense attitude could never tolerate a TOXIC work atmosphere. Most companies in India do not know anything about "Neuro Divergence", employees are segmented, bucketed & even compared as one is under constant micro-scope. Remote work has its cons but somewhere it does not cause major emotional stress even if you get fired from the job, you virtually connected to the endless professional Ecosystem. You can constantly learn new skills, upgrade, think out of box and become technically independent. You work-ethics are lot better and more productive if a XYZ company trusts you completely. It is like "Dusro se meethi bath karke kaam nikalna or you do it yourself" that's the difference between 9-5 and remote setting. I think it is also our stars and choices.

Very nice topic...9-5 jobs karni hi chahiye kyunki business ka koi bharosa nahi hota....Aaj extreme profit kal extreme loss aur unka koi saturday/sunday nahi hota...Dimag me har time bas business hi business rehta hai unke dimag me...There is no peace of mind even if they earn a lot of money after a point....9-5 naukri ka yahi ek faida hai ki chahe woh literally 9-5 na bhi ho toh atleast saturday/sunday ko hum look forward karte hai ki rest mile, family aur friends ko time de sake...aur fixed income bhi EMI bharne me kaam aati hai....And you are right about switching jobs from time to time....Yeh to pakka karni hi chahiye for career and monetary growth....Ek hi jagah ade rahenge government employee ki tarah toh na toh duniya ke sath kadam se kadam mila paoge na koi new skillset seekh paoge....Yeh faida hai corporate me job karne ka.....Advantages aur disadvantages dono me hai....depends on your priorities aur your current financial situations..
