Elaine Lee Turner was a college student working for the NAACP in the summer of 1963. She helped organize those from Memphis who attended the March on Washington. She remained in Memphis and watched the event on television. She said, The whole country was watching ... and they talked about that sense of unity which we could see, just watching the TV ... people of all races."
