Very glad I could help. If the prompt doesn’t work for you, ask GPT to make a prompt for you that will allow you to “insert basically the same prompt” it should edit it, copy and paste its response in that or a new chat and you should be off to the races

I think role play oriented will make for a more entertaining video series in general. With a bard protagonist, maybe a rom-com? That later segways into a mystery around his fathers disappearance? When watching Critcal Role, I tend to tune out during the combat sections and mostly enjoy watching the story and role-play (even though combat and exploration are what I most enjoy when playing D&D). If the combat is more narrative rather than rules focused, I think that would be cool. Rhys is properly pronounced Reece, like Jonathan Rhys Davies. Its welsh. But, say it however you like.
@TBLReady
@TBLReady Жыл бұрын
First off, thank you for the pronunciation! I saw it and was like “Welp, that’s not a letter combo I see often”. I feel the same way about Critical Role. Combat slows down the story and is more fun when you are personally in it. I also hope that eventual Rhys’s father becomes a plot line. This characters back story is already less derivative than many of my own.

@@goose6752 D&D rom-com? Genius!! Boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy has to leave on a quest,, doesn't have a chance to tell girl, doppelganger of boy mistreats girl while boy is away.... If boy is a bard, make it a comic operetta.

Oh! I'm glad you showed that last screen! I was worried that if I did this I needed to be ready for anything. (Make a party with a social investigator type, a combative type, a decent mage who can maybe spelljam, and a cleric who can challenge undead.

Oh it can get as specific or general as you like. I’m a fan of letting it determine many of the details and improving off of that but you can literally have it make a party for you of your own design to take on a quest of your own design. It’s pretty great

I would like to see how it handles combat so combat for sure but I would also love to see some roleplay and mystery. As for difficulty maybe a medium to hard. It would be cool to have a plot where Rys wants to find his father because we don't know where he is or what he did during the bandit attack.
@TBLReady

I love this. I’m running some commands to learn how to best get it to run combat and haven’t gotten there just yet but we will.
@just_another_ghost
@just_another_ghost 11 ай бұрын
I've had success with making it run combat, but it's finiky. Sometimes it's perfect and will ask me to roll to attack and ask me my damage and remind me to add modifiers. You have to constantly remind chat gpt to act as the dungeon master and specifically tell it that you are rolling for attack. You have to remind it that it's dming😂.

After watching the number of videos and having some experience playing, it seems like almost every backstory starts with dead parents and bandits. My preference would be something more unusual. Say maybe, Rhys fled the conflict of his parents over his future, neither of which was his vision for his life. He ran off to the nearest big city where a poor street bard recruited him to pick people's pockets while the bard sang. Rhys learned about bardic skills from his mentor at night and it soon became apparent he was better than his mentor was and they switched roles. His mentor got caught pickpocketing and was hanged by the city watch. This gives Rhyse an antipathy to City guards and authority in general, and sympathy for impoverished bards. Email to be hesitant to form close relationships since they have disappointed him one way or another all his life.
@TBLReady

Yo I love a good backstory. And you’re totally right. I’ve found that the less inputs we provide in prompts around things like back story the more generic and redundant gpt is. It’s why I think player creativity is always going to be essential.

I've been doing mostly the same, but in a sci-fi environment; and you can also ask the AI to use any system it knows about, be it Cepheus/Traveler, Mythic Engine 2e, MUNE, Fudge, etc. Just be mindful of your wordings and always make it interesting and spontaneous. Lots of fun.

The chat struggles with detail continuity and I’m hoping it’s fixed in the update. One thing you can do, if you gave it the command to take meta instructions in []’s you can say something like [Change these aspects of the story….the human rangers name is …. We went to … and killed ….remember these details as they are core to the story and do not change them at any time]

Yeah it’s odd. Gpt doesn’t respond the same way to any two ppl: Try this in a new chat “ You are an expert dungeon master with all the tools and knowledge to run a 5e campaign. (Then add what you’d like for it to do next, *make me a 5e character…)” after you have your character I’ve found that giving it a command prompt more than a request is more consistent. “DM a 5e story (story instead of campaign or vice versa) where I play as (character)…(the rest of your game details).”

I feel your pain. I used to live in Bettws and hated it every time the sat-nav (or any non-Welsh person) said “Bet-twus” rather than “Bet-tus”. (I currently live in Bangor for Uni and only have to get irritated when people butcher Ffriddoedd (the name of one of the two uni accommodation villages), it should be pronounced Frithoith if using the English alphabet (because who will learn the Welsh alphabet just so they can read the language correctly? (Welsh is purely phonetic unlike English)). It’s easy to tell when people don’t know the Welsh alphabet that well as when they abbreviate it (because no one seems to be bothered to say Ffriddoedd when they could just say Ffridd) they say Frid (like fridge, but with out the “juh” sound) rather than Ffridd)
