Some of y’all don’t realize the way toxic family members get into your head and it shows. But for a Y chromosome, I would look *exactly* like my dad. While I appreciate inheriting his grandmother's hefty german bosom (and I don't mind the family chipmunk cheeks), I also have stubby german man hands, an enormous forehead, and my hair is thinning on top. x_x Meanwhile my mom has long elegant fingers, a huge mane of thick silver hair, and not one damn wrinkle at age 76. SO UNFAIR. (That said, glad I didn't inherit her heart & eye problems and high risks of various cancers, so.... plus side?)

People always say I look like my mom. She is Italian with a strong nose, dark eyes and olive skin. I am fair with hazel eyes and a very small nose. (More like my dad) I never saw the resemblance and felt like maybe they think I am unattractive. Bitchy I know. But what I realized is I inherited her beautiful smile that lights up a room and that's what people see. My mother is the sweetest, kindest person I know. I wish I was more like her. She is beautiful!

I feel like many people don't get it. It's not like Ester isn't pretty, she just has a dynamic with her mom where her mom is the pretty one. Growing up hearing someone else is the pretty one can really destroy your self-esteem, even when you yourself are also pretty.

I’m apparently the perfect mix of my dad and mom.... and my sister looks like neither of them. Apparently she looks like my grandma Betty from my mom’s side and my great great grandma cordelia from my dad’s side... (Italian and Mvskoke Creek Native American). Because of that, even though we’re both white with white parents, people often ask my sister “what she is” and often gets assumed to be East Asian or Pacific Islander. It was weird growing up and getting constantly told by my peers that one of us had to be adopted bc we looked nothing alike.

My mom is 5’4 and was really popular and dated a lot when she was in high school. My dad is 6’4 and was somewhat popular and dated in high school. They also both had incredible metabolisms, and were as skinny as tooth picks. I’m 5’10 (exactly in between them), was the opposite of popular, went on 1 bad date as a senior in my entire high school career. And I’ve been over weight since I was 12. I got my dad’s wide shoulders, long face, cheek bones, and large nose. And I got my moms eyes and big boobs. We’re all decently attractive people, but they did not pass on their social capabilities to me.

They've actually studied this and found genetics tend to favor the child's father in most cases. They think there may have been a greater evolutionary advantage for children to look more like their fathers, because if a child looked like their father (and was more obviously his offspring) their father would be more likely to help care for them! Of course looking like your father doesn't mean looking like a man if you are a woman! It means looking like a feminine version of your father. Studies also show very attractive couples are more likely to have girls (probably because, as the traditionally "selected sex," being attractive was greater evolutionary importance for a woman than it would be for a man.) SO, by just the fact that you were born a woman, there's a good chance your dad is pretty! n.n" ;D

I can relate. I got my Dad’s bone structure which means I have - knocked knees - scoliosis - crooked fingers - and some of the most jacked up teeth of all time, thank god my dentist declared it a medical emergency so our insurance would cover my braces I also got his soft spoken voice and his humor which is actually pretty fun

Haha. I came to the right place. I have struggled with this my whole life :( I had so much anxiety and trouble with and still do. Mostly my mother is small and waif-like thin and my Dad is hefty and “cro-magnon”. A little bit of a stomach he has too. One part I like is I am taller like him. I don’t have much of a stomach because I watch it. Or I feel I have to anyway. In my youth I made the mistake of dieting at a young age because my friends were doing it and I thought I needed it. I had pudgy cheeks. Yep, my Dad has those too. Ended up turning into eating disorder :( I hope I can get over it. The eating disorder never got severe but it definitely hurt my bones I think since I wasn’t getting enough calories or protein. Motto: just be thankful for what you have been given. I am 39 and I’m finally making peace with it and now my goal is to eat til I’m full, with a well rounded unrestricted diet and exercise until I feel satisfied (not until I am depleted or exhausted). So far my almost full cheeks came back but I have more color in them then when I was thinner and I noticed my bones are getting stringer. I don’t care what I look like as long as I feel healthy. At almost 40 years old, I am starting to feel our bodies have their limits so just love yours since it is simply here to help you get done everything you need to do. Take care of it.

kind of misleading to assume that a daughter resembling her dad has to be unattractive. The older of my two daughters looks more like me than any of her siblings. The thing is that we both grew up being told we were above average attractive, and should pursue modelling. I did some during high school, and 1st 2 yrs of.college. I'm glad she chose to focus more on school though. Anyway It's all superficial, and character and moral development is the true measure of a person's value. looks change with time. A generous spirit can positively affect people's lives for generations.

My mom is Mexican my dad white, I look like him only oddly whiter(as in I burn in sunlight like a vampire) while my brother looks like my mom and is four shades darker than me(and my sister is a freckled redhead), if I didn't look like my dad my mom would have sued the hospital for giving her the wrong baby.

I can see the humor in this ... I'm a female who looks more like my dad than my mom. In my case, however, it's (strangely enough) a good thing. I'm not a sizzling hot 10, by any means, and my mom's not terrible, but she does have more masculine features. I inherited softer features from my dad. ...
