My ex cheated on me multiple times, and i didn't find out the full extent of it until well after separation (i say full extent, but now i think on it, who knows what else happened i never found out about!). And part of me is like, maybe if he was publicly outed early on it would have made him stop? maybe?? But as for out strangers.... my concern would be, you don't know if there is DV going on, and publicly outing the cheater could result in more DV. so i am pretty much mostly in the boat of this should be more private.

Then himself the cheater. I dont agree with cheating, but the issue here is the doxing, because the original poster gave way too much information in the post. The fact the wife has had to remove her social pages just goes to show the impact here. What about the children as well. Extremely sad. The issue here is the line between private information, which can illegally give other people access to whom that person(s) is vs whats acceptable.

This is showing my cynical outlook on people (especially regarding TikTok), but I can easily see some unhinged person getting involved in a "we did it reddit" moment where someone mistakenly has a target placed on their back for cheating when they weren't.

I think if he has an open marriage no harm no foul, but if he IS cheating, she needs to know, so how else is she going to find out? Should she never know and always think she's married someone she can trust and depend on? What happens if he find "the love of his life," and leaves her with the kids, and destitute? I didn’t know the extent of my ex wife’s cheating on me until years after my divorce. Even though I didn’t know what was going on at the time, the divorce came out of nowhere to me, and was devastating. I’d hate to have found out the way this schmuck’s wife did, because I feel like I would have to face the public ridicule that I somehow caused it because of some failure on my part to… let’s say “keep her happy” that probably would have come up in some comment section somewhere. Divorce is rarely a copacetic event for both parties. It brings out the worst in people. ESPECIALLY when kids are involved too. I feel like the filmer did this for clout. She didn’t hesitate to post her judgmental mug throughout the whole thing, asking tic toc to “do its thing” like some digital Bat-Man summoning the Justice League. If she was so compelled to “help”, I’m sure she could have found a better way to do it, or ask for a better way. Secondly, I do feel like the public outing and filming of this is a slippery slope. I also don’t tolerate cheating, but I don’t feel that the filming of strangers is ok at all. I’m not what most would call attractive. I have bad teeth from years of stress, addiction (four years sober now), and depression. The inside of my arms are bruised from selling plasma to make ends meet, and I have trouble sleeping. I know this combination of things make me appear a certain way, and I get it. What would be unacceptable would be being filmed while at the park with my kids so someone can mock me because they could incorrectly say “Look at this homeless j-nkie taking his kids to the park” because they feel like I’m doing something wrong in their eyes because I’m financially struggling right now and don’t have a dental plan. It might sound far fetched, but I’ve been approached by people at playgrounds asking who I’m with, and when I asked them the same thing I’m told it doesn’t matter. I understand that part of this is from bad decisions I’ve made, or just sh-t luck. Hopefully, I can turn things around and change things so it won’t happen again. My kids are innocent in this, and even though they stay anonymous, they get embarrassed when some pearl clutching soccer mom yells at their dad at the park. They didn’t ask for it, and neither did the cheater’s wife and kids. All they did was exist in the vicinity of an -sshole, and their lives are uprooted in ways we can’t imagine.

A.) filming without.consent is ✨illegal✨ in a lot of places. Not sure how those laws work with airports though to be fair since youre often not considered to have entered a territory until you pass out of the secure part of an airport. B ) As someone in an open marriage where we both wear our rings pretty much all the time, even with anothee partner. FINALLY, someone else is talking about this! I saw one of these posts a month ago and the whole comment section not only supported it but relentlessly attacked me when I stitched it saying the logical thing aka that this is humiliating and publicly traumatizes the girlfriend because now EVERYONE who knows her is aware of her relationship issues she likely did not want them, much less MILLIONS of strangers, to know about. The one I saw they had not found the girlfriend (at least not yet) but I was disgusted by the amount of people who were supporting it saying that everyone should pitch in so they can find and expose this guy; literally no one had the rationale to oppose this invasive, clout chasing behavior from the tiktoker who posted it, I felt like the only sane person left on Earth!

a little unrelated but i was hanging outside with my boyfriend and i didnt see anybody around but later that day my sister sent me a tiktok of us hanging out and zooming in on my boyfriend with sparkly effects and "daddy issues" was the song playing......because my sister has android the video was way too blurry to see the username and i was never able to figure out who it was that posted that! being online and being portrayed like that is disturbing.

100% agree with your take on this! For sure i think cheating is the lowest of the low, yet i have the same feeling about Privacy being no longer respected. The op in their quest for morality and self righteousness, seems to have been extremely short sighted in her shaming the husband for what she perceived as his wrongdoings, she ultimately humiliated and shamed potentially doxing an entire family, who by all appearances look to be victims in this internet race to tar and feather a “bad man”…

Private matters should stay private. Especially since they have kids and boyo those kids are gonna be hounded ny peer pressure and gossip. Coz it's not just the husband's life that's ruined.

I think if they wanted to get involved, there was only one ethical way to do so: try to find the partner by herself and get in touch in private. When you do something like this, you become the one responsible for any collateral damage you cause (as well as any unintended damage, such as if there is consent and these people now have to deal with the stigma of an open marriage that might've been private) I say that even if I believe cheating is one of the most straightforward types of emotional abuse

Most of these people “exposing” someone in the name of justice are really just seeking entertainment. When it’s not done for selfish reasons, it’s a savior complex. Either way, it’s annoying and unimpressive. I feel bad for any kids in these situations who maybe saw one of their parents in a TikTok.
