I just checked Facebook marketplace in my country sorting by price (highest) and £4,750 ($6000) will buy a brand new "Custom Loop Gaming PC! i9 14900KF | RTX 4090 | 32GB DDR5 | 2TB M.2 | White" so my local PC builders will do a custom watercooling loop and a 14900KF for that price from a seller that's from an actual legit company with a brick and mortar store, a warranty and a returns policy (ProTech PCs) so way less sketchy to purchase from. Would I buy that? no! But at least I can see where they are justifying the price.

I see this a lot in one of the local FB PC selling groups I'm in. People went all out on their personal gaming rig, and then get mad when nobody wants to pay them full retail for all of the fluff they're including with it. People love to pack them full of those expensive fans, and nobody really wants to pay for those when buying a used PC...not when it adds a few hundred dollars to the price and they're not giving you any extra performance.

In the summer of 2023 I built this exact same spec rig for a friend. Same Mobo, Ram, Drive setup (I would have made different choices but this is what he wanted), and AIO cooler...Only things we did differently we used the I9 13900KS, a beefier EVGA 1000w platinum rated power supply for the GPU (again not what I would have done but not my build not my money). The build cost a whopping 5500 bucks total in retail. So if someone paid 10g's for this rig they got straight ripped OFF. After looking over the two builds the one I did and this one. I cant help but wonder is there a website out there that put this particular parts list together and labeled it as the ULTIMATE PC or something? Because the similarities are just too coincidental.

Like the part where these sellers are still marking/charging their products as new just without the tax. A guy was asking $595-667 for a ryzen 5 2600x with an msi b450i mobo, 16 gb ram, 1080 ti, corsair sf 750 plat and nr200p. Ok, I a number of years ago bought a used HP Z420 server system (64 gb ram) for a good price, I use it for my basic computer (and gaming) and it works just fine, however, I am tech savvy enough to know how/what to change at times (Although this system did initially confuse me with the motherboard diagram about how the Hard Drives linked in, I just spent more time reading to figure out what I had done wrong), the only things I honestly need now, is maybe more ram (the server system does a REALLY nice job of handling the memory allocation per CPU chipset and thread and processes) a video card, and the back USB bus ports are rather flaky (I would have to signal trace and probably resolder a few resistors or transistors to get them stable again), the other thing I would one day like to get is a proper SSD drive (I am using a 200gb SSD as my boot drive and everything else is run off older hard drives).

I'm not going to pick on him for the CPU. Maybe when it was built, the 13900K _was_ the top of the line. The MB is a bit overkill, but whatever, it's a good mid-to-high end choice. Same with the RAM. 128GB 6000MT/s CL30 is definitely overkill, but it's not inherently a bad way to spend your budget. The storage is just outright bizarre. If I followed along correctly: 4x 1TB 990 M.2 = $480 1x 2TB 870 2.5" SSD = $165 2x 1TB 870 2.5" SSD = $180 That's a total of 8TB of storage. OK, but why break it into so many different drives, especially mismatched speeds and sizes? If you're stuck on Samsung, grab a couple 4TB 990 Pro M.2 for $640. Maybe you really want a drive solely for your OS. Fine, put a 1TB 990 for the OS and the 2x 4TB for your games/data/whatever and you're STILL under what the existing config costs. The fans... Look... I like Lian Li fans - after all, I've got 10 of them in my own build - but 19 of them? There's a 240 radiator up top and and a 360 on the side. OK, assume both are in push/pull, so that's 10 fans. 3 more on the front, 3 on the bottom and 1 at the back. That's 17. Where are the other 2? Oh dear gods... he's just got a third one hanging out there off the end of the 240... and yup, there are three above that 240 rad as well on top of the case. Come on, man! How is that third fan even supported? Is he just using the Lian Li connector? Yikes. $570 for "showcase" type fans, of which 6 are either completely blocked or barely visible and one that's just hanging out there. Sure looks "professionally built" to me. Sigh.

Maybe I am missing something, but other than just filling slots, is there really any purpose of using the Samsung 990 PRO 1TB instead of the 2TB model? Same could be asked of the two 870 EVO 1TB especially when above a 2TB drive was used.

19 FANS!? I actually had to re-watch the video from 2:44 just to count the case fans & yep, it was 19 of them. It's good that it is a big & heavy glass case, otherwise it would risk to get airborne.

I mean... if it was a home server with a 32c TR the price would be actually pretty ok. You could pretty much run at least 10 game servers in it and make fairly good money.

I counted 16 fans. He probably did spend over 10k, no expense spared, in the way that he definitely didn't shop around or buy things that make sense or he needed.

With a few changes in cooler, drives and fans, it is $6000 in Canada... with taxes.

As insane as this is i don't think its worse than one someone asked if they should buy in a discord i'm in though. 13600k, 4070ti, 500gb ssd, all white build with a kraken elite in a nzxt h9... and $270 in unifans. Was selling for near the price of the build on pcpp! That price however is $2580.
