Glad I rejoined the Patreon to get the heads up for this, just wish I hadn't spent my last extra $200 on a few Starbucks and fast food runs last week. Okay, that's minor hyperbole, but it's still crazy how that stuff adds up these days. At least I can get the machining zen this morning for free! I'm inspired to get working on my projects (after I finish coffee). Thanks!

When I watch people use a lathe I wonder if it’s possible to collect the shavings and melt them back into a usable shape? I’m sure it’s not economical but it would be an interesting experiment in recycling materials. Amazing looking hammer!

@@gallowaylights I’m close friends with him like I said it’s mostly for me. I’ve been watching him for 12 years and going back it’s hard to find the old comments at times. This makes it easier for me to remember what I learned from him in that moment that way 12 years from now I can look back and see what I’ve gained from a particular video. it’s nice to capture a moment in words. I wish I did it twelve years ago when i started watching him. He knows why I’m doing it and I guess that’s all that matters.

Best of luck selling your hammers! 🔨 I have a nice brass hammer, didn't make it myself and it's likely mass produced, not a limited, premium piece like this of course but has served me well. 👍

Is it weird to call a hammer beautiful lol. I have followed your channel for years now and my dad used to do a lot of metal working like that. It’s kind of ironic that you should happen to put this video today because we were just talking last night about the metal work that he and I used to do. He had an old Smithy lathe/end mill that I always enjoyed working on. I do primarily wood working but I wish I had a metal lathe in my shop to as they are so incredibly useful. Great project.

So I’m in a Walmart superstore and I’m going through the tool department and I look down and see something that says I MAKE and right then and there I knew where I have seen that. And I says to myself that’s jimmy diresta it has to be an sure enough it is that’s wicked kool that is just one way to get kids or really anyone to try and make something and put something together and then it opens up so many possibilities and just might have an impact on someone’s life

Tip for turning Brass, Bronze and Zinc. Turn the cuttung tool upside down and run the lathe is reverse. That way chips go ino the chip pan and not all over the shop.
