In my latest workshop project video, I needed to make a latch for the chicken coop. I took this opportunity to practice some blacksmithing techniques that I have been watching on KZfaq. I combined several different techniques and methods for this blacksmithing project. I am not considering this a pure blacksmith latch, I just needed a lock for the chicken coop, so I made one. Thank you to all the blacksmith that share their skill on KZfaq!

Beautiful chickens. The slide bolt lock has the most interesting and unique operating mechanism and it’s as pretty to look at as the birds.
