A Week In The Life of David Cola (At Berklee) Part 1

This video is long overdue, and was definitely a great learning experience for me! The reason I wanted to make this is so I could show those who are curious what my life is like as a music student at Berklee College of Music. I also wanted to give more intel into the "Berklee Lifestyle" that I get asked about a lot, and I definitely plan to give my own perspective and opinion towards my Berklee experience in future videos! I was a bit nervous at first, so there are some cringy moments, so don't mind me! Enjoy Friends and Fam!
By the way, never put over a Terabyte of videos on Google Drive and try to re-download them on bad wi-fi :). It's impossible...

So much respect man!! You seem to be juggling but enjoying your college experience a ton, which is both inspiring and intimidating at the same time lol. Wish you could've been my tour guide when I visited Berklee last October, would've been nice to get another drummers perspective lol. ✌🏾🙌🏾

Attended Berklee back in the 80's. Great great school. A lot has changed. Makes me proud to be an Alumn. Great content.

Amazing vide David!!!! I love it. Question: when you do your covers, how do you have your OVERHEADS panned? Hard left and Hard Right (Stereo)? Or Mono? Also how do you get the nice drum tones?

Thanks Stuart! Sorry, I think I missed your last message too. I have my overheads hard panned! Left and Right ! And tuning is the biggest factor for drum tones. I barely add any compression and EQ to my toms! I do add some good Compression to my snare though haha

Awesome video. What was your classmates' average age ? I want to apply to Berklee in 2 years (at 22). I can't apply now because of studies. Is 22 too old ? (Would like to apply for piano jazz and jazz composition)

Hey david love your content. I'm 15 and I'm thinking about berklee, I also live in the boston area. I was wondering what type of snare you're playing, it sounds awesome. Is it a gretsch snare?

Jacob Friedman hey Jacob! In the studio I am using a Ludwig Acrolite snare! And in the practice rooms I am using a stock Gretsch metal snare haha. Let me know if you have any questions about Berklee! I'd be happy to help!

awesome thanks. I was wondering about the auditions and the basic do's and don'ts. Also strategies for networking and getting gigs because I hear too many stories of great musicians who are never successful despite there efforts. I've determined I want to do music for a living. Also any tips for picking up outside gigs, and also balancing music and school. Does berklee require actual classes or is it just music all day long?

I recorded this on April 24th 2016. I ran into some difficulties since I had close to 2 terabytes of video stored on my google drive and it took forever to re-download all of the footage mainly because of my internet. But, I was finally able to re-download everything and finally edit it.
