I played a good few matches online, and it's CRAZY how positive everyone is in lobbies. Every conversation I've had so far during the match has been complimenting each other's gameplay, "good guess", "damn you're smart", or both of us screaming when one of us lives on a single pixel and we had already said GG. It's fantastic

I think that’s due to the game being turn-based, you don’t really have a lot of opportunity to build up adrenaline and get pissed when the game moves as slow as hustle does

I like that by making it turn based they make fighting game mechanics more accessible to people. I feel like a lot of people get confused by the fast pace of fighting games when combined with the number of options and difficulty of execution. In YOMI Hustle, there's no execution (you're just calmly choosing options from a list) and there's no time pressure, so it lets new players understand their options way more easily. It also makes certain things explicit that you're meant to infer in other games, like frame advantage or DI (in Smash), and puts them directly on the screen. I think these skill are transfereable. Someone could play this game, and then pick up something like Guilty Gear and say "oh hey this is just YOMI Hustle but in real time." They would already understand things like burst, frame advantage, and negative penalty (sadness), which new players usually struggle with.
@PikaPenny17

Actually wizard inspired a hustler idea for me It was during 0 grav solo wizard rocket spam that I thought what if there was a hustler that revolved around this concept and thus Apollo the Human Rocket was born Mans can fly and fire off his limbs like missiles + he’s a robot with a little workshop in him so they grow back near instantly and he has a gear shift that by draining meter he can multiply his frame advantage and animation speed (up to 5x) at the cost of more meter (note: gear shift ends automatically but you can activate it without meter however it will drain health instead)

Very good video, amazing quality, great editing and well scripted. If you love the idea of YOMI Hustle i highly recommend checking out some channels that deal with the topic of fightning game theory. The genre can be really dounting because of the manual skills required, and the knowledge of characters, moves, options etc. but the heart of it is reaally interesting and in my opinion its conveyed really freaking well in this game. My recomendations are: Core-A Gaming (especially the video on The Three Types of Players, its sooooo cool) Leon Massey Theory Fighter Gekko Squirrel Anyways if you don't want to its totally fine but i just had to leave this here because when i watched this video i got the same exact vibe i get from those creators i listed and found it interesting because your videos arent really related to this subject. Have a great day dude!
@vfanon
@vfanon Жыл бұрын
Personally I'm one of the people who loved watching that shit but never actually played fighting games (because of as the video mentioned, being terrified of assholes in mp and therefore not being able to practice) I think YOMI really helps reach the audience of people who love the theory but are shit at actually putting any of it into practice in an average game: and honestly it's making me feel more confident at trying again at some of the games I've bounced off of in the past, so it may even be a great way for people to properly get into the genre who couldn't otherwise. Sick either way.
@iendjei
@iendjei Жыл бұрын
@@vfanon ayyy, dont worry about the assholes! In most games i played most, players are totally cool. Especially in YOMI i had the most polite and fun conversations over the chat. For example losing my shit when somebody reads me or does something sick and apologizing when i drown someone with my Wizard projectiles lmao. Actually the thing with most fightning games is that they're really time dependent, what i mean by that is really you should aim to get into a fightning game close to its release when most people are in the process of figuring the game out and also that's when most people at different skill levels will be playing in general. I mean you could always go for stuff thats still relevant like tekken or guilty gear (or just type the name of the game that interests you in google, add "player count", and see if it has at least around 2000 concurrent players) but in the process of learning you could feel like everyone is leagues ahead of you and got it all figured out. Also not that long ago fightning games had really shit netcode so only the most dedicated players would stick around to bear it, now that rollback is pretty much the standard the future of the FGC looks amazing. If you want to start your journey with fightning games soon it will be the ideal moment to do it. Guilty Gear Strive, that's a freaking anime fighter, has seen some great success, so you can only imagine how many new players will join in to fight in Street Fighter 6 (coming June btw), Tekken 8 or better yet Riot's Project L The last one will be without a doubt the biggest thing that's gonna happen to the FGC. Also it will be f2p which is the model i think all fightning games should be, cause potential newcomers have to pay a full retail price to have equal chances at launch, just to try out the most scary and newbie unfriendly experience he could even find out he doesnt enjoy is soo stupid. Also the genre is notorious for season passes with new characters that would translate really well to f2p, cause it would literally remain unchanged except giving players the option to grind instead od paying up. Damn i wasnt planning to write an essay lol. Well i guess stuff happens so now im obligated to add TL;DR Best way to try yourself out is to get into a popular upcoming game on launch (Especially project L). And there's nothing to be afraid of in multiplayer. You can try it out in YOMI by chatting while you have the time to, or just not doing it if youre introverted (and seeing for yourself that nobody gives a shit heh)

Thank god i’m not the only one that thinks it’s Chess 2 Oh, and for Burst (this is VERY overlooked) when you’re using it in a combo you have, it’s called a burst cancel, and instead of blasting them away and ruining your combo, it only knocks them back a small amount and refreshes ALL of your cooldowns. So you can use it in the air to refresh your air moves and keep an air combo going. You can easily tell why this is so overlooked, though, as burst is half of your escape options in a combo and great for mindgames when you hold it. This is a powerful move that I wish more people used because it’s absolutely underrated.

it's less being judged, more i don't feel like dealing with assholes and people that immediately disconnect when i parry their burst

1:53 If anything, it's me playing in EU4 mp as a kid that GAVE me that phobia of assholes. But yeah, I have the same problem (but managed to get over it in this game and some others somehow, and it's really fun to play randoms once you do!) but yes. EU4 multiplayer scene was something else.

Ngl, for me the game's ui looks pretty hard to understand, but it looks very unique. What will be your next video, if it will ever be released lol

The UI looks overwhelming, but after playing around with it for 10 minutes it is surprisingly intuitive. Those 10 minutes playing around in singleplayer was all I needed to learn the basics of the game.

Wizard isn't all that bad, if you get close enough to use melee skills its pretty f***ing cool and not annoying whatsoever I personally use ranged skills as a form of extending my combos, not as main attacks
