I've been crocheting since I was 12 and people give me yarn all the time. Especially after their grandmother's and great Aunt's pass away. They would just give me their yarn, crochet hooks, and knitting needles. I've even found projects that their relatives started but never finished. So I finished it for them and gave it back to the family. I love watching you make art and your hobby videos. And I love that you got the art supplies second hand.

Yay for making hobbies as sustainable as possible even if it's not perfect! I gave up nail art for a while because "it's all polymers" and "there's no way to make that sustainable" and lots of sustainably influencers give up nail polish because it's not important to them. But I realized IT'S IMPORTANT TO ME!! So I use what I have and buy from small businesses when I need something. I even found a local nail art shop owned by a WOC and she has her own line of gel polish. Is it a perfect sustainable hobby? No. But I'm so much happier doing it and even better when I can support local in the process!

I do watercolors and there are plastic free watercolor sources. Beam paints sells watercolor in wood or waxed paper. I have a woodstove and I burn pencil shavings from colored pencils, used paper and the packaging from beam paints both from what the ship it in and keep watercolor in.

A little tip! U can actually cut the lino with the shape of the design, so u save bunch of lino for next smaller projects, and u have less of background to cut! I always do this to make little stamps with leftover lino ;)

Watched this while turning paper from the recycling bin into little stars! Thank you for talking about this, especially the lino as that's one of the many arts/crafts I'm interested in. I'm constantly making art and crafts, and environmentalism is essential in that practice for me. I don't find it limiting in my creativity at all, honestly I think it expands it.

Thanks for the video. I love finding ways to use "trash" in creative projects. Repurposing anything gives me joy. I put my leftover food in glass containers that I have repurposed or thrifted. I would just put a pan lid that fits well enough and use your glass jar find for that.

Lino cutting is so much fun! For burnishing, while stamping on it looks like it worked, you can also rub a wooden spoon on the back of the paper (or a burnishing tool if you have one/make one). If you want to get even more hours of fun out of one block of lino you could try a reduction print as well: where you cut out a design and print it in one colour but then cut more away and print again in another colour on top.

I love this! I have been living a vegan lifestyle for 20 years, mostly for environmental reasons but also ethical, and been doing fiber art (lika sewing and knitting) for equally long time. Its hard since cotton and linen isnt warming and i dont want to use plastic yarn. This has led to me using wool yarns, since i feel its the lesser of two evils. I just make sure to buy it second hand or the most ethically produced yarns i can find.

I use a large glass container like this to keep my Monstera deliciosa happy: I have filled it with water, put it next to the plant and put the air roots into it. This way, there is always some water evaporating into the large plant, creating a better microclimate for the plant. And the plant needs to be watered less frequently, which is a bonus when you are traveling or busy a lot. You can also plant some water mint into a large glass pot like this. This type of mint does not mind being submerged occasionally and thus needs less frequent watering than "regular" mint if you do not fill the pot with soil, but leave room for some stones and water so that there is a large reservoir of water in the container on top of the soil.

Such a great video! My main hobby atm is sewing and as a recovering hoarder, I always have to resist the urge to trash even my smallest scraps, especially when I know they could end up in landfill. Also trying to prioritize second hand textiles and supplies -- I recently got a Danish butter cookies box full of bobbins, don't think I'll have to buy thread for the next ten years at least.

Hi Gitte! Great video as always. I have a tip for your linocut printing, it's best if you pass your roller on a clean surface a couple of times in the same direction for the ink to cover the roller in a uniform layer, then if you roll the ink roller only front and back over your piece, you actually remove ink the second time you pass over the same spot, because it sort of gets back to the roller, so the way to get a better cover with the ink is to do it in only one direction and move on, taking more ink and then give it another layer... with this technique you use less ink but in many layers getting a much darker and uniform print. I love printing too and always worry about wast, so I try to maximize the materials I already own.

Omg. I'm so happy to see this! 😁 Art and being creative is one of my outlets and a form of therapy for me. I love to do collage and mixed media art forms, as well as what I refer to as upcycle art (but mostly use free or found objects, so basically racoon art 🦝😂). I just love to make things out of things that would otherwise be waste or considered trash by some people. Love love love that you've made a video about your art! Thank you 💚 Ps. Have you ever tried using a carved potato for a print? Or other "mark making" techniques? Might be a more fun to look into if you haven't before. Although, not exactly zero waste. Hope you enjoy the rest of your week, and anyone else who reads this 😊 Edit: Flanzella has a fun DIY decoupage glass lamp upcycle idea that you might think is cool?
