​@@helaina400Try saying to your phone, "Did Mel Brooks serve in the army in WWII". Turns out he WAS a combat engineer in the Battle of the Bulge. Not knowing is one thing, but willful ignorance is something else altogether. Maybe research prior to commenting next time?

He was ALWAYS ahead of his time and never let the biases and prejudices of others taint his love of comedy. This comedic genius of a man gave Dave Chappelle his big break in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" in 1993.

The brilliance of Blazing Saddles, that many people miss, is that the townspeople were angry when Sheriff Bart showed up, but at the end of the film nobody called him names and all of the townspeople begged him to stay. They were sad to see him leave.

They didn't mention that Mel also produced the classic drama The Elephant Man. He didn't put his name on it because it was so heavily associated with comedy.

My late husband and I used to trade lines from Mel Brooks' movies. We'd watch them over and over. I still watch especially Blazing Saddles, History of the World, and Young Frankenstein - and I still laugh myself sick! 🤣 Thank you, Mel Brooks! 🤗

Just think: Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, Larry Gelbart all worked on Sid Caesar's show. They've influenced all of comedy for the latter half of the 20th Century, and, indeed, for the rest of time. What a legacy!

Just like everyone else, I LOVE Mel Brooks! I was stunned when I found out he and Anne Bancroft were married. Who knew Mrs. Robisnson was such a nut job in real life, because she'd have to be to be married to Mel.

I remember when I was 9-10 and my friend was like cmon, sit down and play Spaceball.. and the first scene with that unending ship appears with combination of dramatic strings.. I died :DD. Its great he is still in a good shape!
