After a few attempts to pick the abs lock I have worked out a method that works well for me. Now I am sharing it with you =) enjoy

One of the best videos on picking the ABS *** lock the right way up and with a very clear explanation on the process. If Brisant Ultion adopted the same idea to their plug it would be a winner as it stands they just fall open but have a very good lock down built in when the lock is attacked via snapping / pulling. Thank you..

Anthony Dacey thank you! This video is getting a bit old now and there are better ways to do it by far but still very valid way. I also have a video on the GJ locks pick opening some abs locks.

@@GxAxV Thanks for your reply. I am aware of the tools that are now available to open these locks but having never come across one and very unlikely now I am almost retired but if I had to buy one I would go for the Ultim8 as you don't have to mess around with magnets. But its always handy to have some idea on opening one without spending 100s of £s like you demonstrated but for the younger more enthusiastic locksmiths who don't mind going out at stupid o'clock in the morning when its raining cats and dogs could be a problem. Great video and will dig out a ABS and give it ago. All the best.

Wow, you're very talented. I was wondering how you were gonna get the magnet out. How come the cam dropped off? Is is spring loaded?

So a question are these barrels ok for the price? Is the quality comaprible to more expencive manufacturers such as Yale? TIA.

Unfortunately where they do offer greater security than the likes of even Yale’s better cylinders, they are simply not reliable and I have seen many fail with normal use. I would use a Yale platinum 3 star over this lock 👍🏻

@@GxAxV These locks strike me as very complex, but with complexity comes potential reliability issues...pin in pin, trap pins, magnetically operator pin. The Yale 3 Star Platinum was the one I had in mind, but apparently the horizontal key is fiddly to get in the lock (it has groves unlike the ABS) - any comment? I could use them on my standard doors, but not on two patio doors. The Yale has two 'kick deflector' bumps on the cylinder. This should shoulder up to the plate/frame within a standard door (35/35 cylinder), but no way will the cylinder (50/50), pass through the significantly thicker plate/frame within the patio doors. Looks like Yale dropped the ball in that respect; their measurement guides do not take this in to account.

Has anyone had one of theses where all the keys went in fine from both sides but wouldn’t rotate, more than likely metal rubbish on the magnet inside the lock but out of interest how would you open it and retract it from the door as I attempted to clean the keys and lock but no success, i have the gj pick but didn’t work as the lock seamed stuck. Any ideas?

The pin itself in the lock is not magnetic for this reason so shouldn’t be that. It could be something to do with the clutch so try picking the lock by hand (just the same as with the GJ one) if the plug turns then that confirms. Then it’s snap and die grinder job if pin has fired.

Hi, can someone please advise what the most secure 3 star cylinder is in 2021 ? There are so many now
@GxAxV
@GxAxV 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, there are quite a few locks out there these days like ultion and ABS among others. These locks break and fail ALOT! Locking you out and I would suggest you avoid them. Although a little expensive I would recommend Mul-T-Lock break secure 3 star. I have never seen one of them fail just being used in day to day and they offer amazing security.

Could you not just depress both sets of pins as you tension the lock the pick it open?
@GxAxV
@GxAxV 6 жыл бұрын
This like any pin in pin lock would not be possible, some of the inner pins are set deeper than the outer pins and vise-versa . That means you don't press them to the same height to set.

hobbo2404 as said in the video it’s a magnet out of a key. Not advisable though if you can use a larger magnet.

Why are you essentially teaching criminals how to break into peoples homes?
@GxAxV
@GxAxV 5 жыл бұрын
Harry Rose I’m demonstrating that this lock is not as amazing as everyone thinks but also if someone actually used this method to break in and could do it successfully, they wouldn’t be wasting time robbing people.

If you know how to do this, you are no going into peoples houses. Also, there are faster ways to gain access to a home.. this lock means you have a uPVC door. You can kick it! Or use an extractor, a ninja stone for a window, etc.

@william joyce he meant he was picking it with the pins facing up in the way most locks in the UK are fitted, instead of the pins facing down like they are in most US installations. ...also having the lock in the vice at an angle so as the vice jaws don't restrict the movement of the cam.
