You make it look so easy,I struggle to even pick the 6 pins(let alone the trap pins)hardly any feedback from the pins or movement from the core when trying to tension it.very impressive picking skills bro.really appreciate these videos

Was given this lock as a beginner. Before realising what I was at I got stuck in those trap pins. Watching you're video to hope I can get out of it now😕

OK. So for fun picking purposes I can ignore the cam bit for now anyway, but I need to pick pins 2,4 and 6 to get me out of the first row of trap pins? And if I manage that, I need something to stop the next 3 pop into the lock as it turns around?? Interesting lock. Thanks for posting this and great job on it👍

Very interesting. I have a couple of these which I'm keeping with a load of other complex locks, staying safely out of reach until I feel my skills have advanced sufficiently for me to give them a try. I picked up a term in this video I've never come across before: "string method". Time for me to do some googling!

@@GxAxV what would you advise if I come across the above in a domestic environment? My understanding is if i encountered that lock first i would try to pick but if that fails use a pick gun, and then if that doesn't work use a plug puller. But looking at the above the only way seems to be picking is that right?
@GxAxV
@GxAxV Жыл бұрын
@@mitchellw7118 most well established locksmiths never use plug pullers, we all buy them but never actually use them. With all these cylinders that can’t be pulled including the ATK and screws potentially breaking in the core and making life 10 times harder. Simply drilling the lock the normal way is safer and faster. With this lock and almost all others is pick gun 1st if it won’t go then hand picks then drill.

@@GxAxV that's perfect thank you. I'm going to set up a mock frame and door in my garage and started fitting random locks to experiment with. It is so wierd as since I discovered it as a hobby nobody else sees what I do and thinks I'm crazy haha

@@mitchellw7118 lol that’s the best way to do it mate, theory and videos are great to learn but best to get something in front of you and actually do it. If you enjoy it while you learn then you know it’s right for you.

I can’t really tell you without assessing your door and property. If you have a big glass panel door then why spend lots on locks. Same goes for if your back door is pants. Most locksmiths will do a free quote for you and asses the property. Get someone over and by all means you can ask my opinion on what they recommend.

Brilliant video pal, I have not been unfortunate enough to come across one of these on a live job yet, and I do wonder what method I would use, I wonder if once you’ve picked the cam up whether it would be possible to plug spin past the trap pins? 🤔

You mention the die grinder, if you were to overcome the standard pins and lockdown mode with this method where does that leave you regarding the trap pins will you still have those to deal with?

Nice one Gav. Just a thought not tried it myself but do you think it's possible once you have picked up the cam to plug spin it passed the trap pin's?
@GxAxV
@GxAxV 3 жыл бұрын
No unfortunately not. That’s a question as old as trap pins themselves tho that everyone asks 😁 simply not enough time to pick up speed and a very high chance of damaging the lock.

The Don Of Pies nice name 😂 the bible is what the bottom part of the lock is called that houses the driver pins. The string method is a way to get past trap pins in other types of locks using string.

To be fair, picking locks in a vice is 100% different from inside a door and not being able to see the cam and trap pins 🔥🔫
@GxAxV
@GxAxV 3 жыл бұрын
It’s a little bit different but not much really I would say more like 20% harder tops depending on the position of the lock. I pick a lot more locks in doors every day than I do in the vice.
