It's a good start you can replace the chicken liver with beef liver cause chicken liver is low in copper you need a ruminate animal liver . And get rid of the rice it adds no value. Next you need to know your dogs daily caloric intake making sure it's getting the essentials a dog can't live without like manganese/ iodine/magnesium/ zinc/vitamin-E & the calcium and phosphorus ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 to 1. The ingredients u have listed your pet is getting none of these. Just trying to help

appreciate the advice. i give him acana free range duck as his kibble at night and it's in a bowl that's self filling so he can go grab a bite at any time he wants throughout the day or night which is why i think he never begs for food because he has food security. anyway if u have any suggestions for something i can add into his lunch time meal that i cook for him to fill in the gaps i'd really appreciate it. idk if cutting rice from his meal makes sense for me personally because it helps keep his meals within a budget i can afford at the moment. thanks so much for your reply @@thoroughbredbullterriers9039

Hey Steve, did you transition them onto the food or immediately swap? f you transitioned, then it could be the particular protein you swapped to. Try using a different protein. Royal Canin is a really bad long term option, despite the cost and perceived quality, it's actually a really bad food (made by Mars chocolates who don't do healthy products). Long term use will have seriously detrimental affects.

Late reply but: I saw a shorts from Rachel Fusaro back in Nov2022 claiming that Mars, Inc (Pedigree, Nutro, IAMS) had bought out Acana and Orijen so there might have been a change in ingredients sourcing.

I truly believe as a pet parent you need to do some reading and things but right now my dog eats better than I do even with kibble. That's pretty good! Add livers and a little grated veggies, apples and some blueberries. A dollop of yoghurt occasionally, and then you're really onto something.

I have been feeding my dogs at canna , Just started it them on it when they turned a year. They are now fifteen months old. They have carrots, yogurt, banana peanut butter. Cucumbers For treats every day. What would you suggest.

Hey How much exercise do you give her and do you feed her per the bag instructions? We have a lab and she gets the specific amount of food per the bag and decent exercise and is in very fit condition.

@@Zayah22 She’s fairly active. But it’s really hot right now. We have a large yard that I take care of and the dogs are always wit h me. They protect me from lizards. Lol. ( in their mind) I have tried to feed less than what is on the bag as that is too much food. Like I stated, we add meat to their kibble and reduce the amount of kibble. But she’s very picky and shy so she won’t eat if there’s any thing going on.

Well, if you want to focus on that then I worry about your dog's health. Dogs can't choose who buys them-- Just a crap shoot for them.

@@treasuretrovel3816 I had a great Dane live till 11 years old on only a kibble and can food diet, zero health issues over his entire lifespan. This was back in the early 90s when nobody talked about raw feeding. I started experimenting with raw food about 10 years ago. My latest great Dane who was solely fed on raw food from a puppy died at 4 years old. He was always going to the vets with constant issues. I've kept dogs all my life. The one with the most issues was the raw fed great dane. This could just be a coincidence, but I can only go on my own experience.

No, you are wrong. Champion Foods contain large amounts of legume filler. No dog evolved to eat legumes. That is a true statement and you know it. Legumes are species inappropriate for a carnivore and skew the GI flora in a bad way. And, it is also a fact that Acana and Orijin were the two kibbles (both by Champion) that the statistics showed were the two most common foods that fed in young dogs developing Dilated Cardiomyopathy. That is a fact revealed by the statistics. I understand that Champion then added Taurine which it failed to do prior to the health crisis that killed a lot of dogs. It still is up for debate if the excess legumes with the phytic acid and lectin proteins somehow acted as an anti-nutrient and bound to taurine and maybe other essential nutrients making them unavailable for absorption and that resulted in failing hearts. Now your turn in this debate: Give a logical, scientific defense of Acana kibble.
