@@hadar.shemesh May I ask you this? A lot of friends who are coming to the US are trying to imitate sounds and I always tell them - people would appreciate talking with a normal person, not a robot. Like, this is one of the most general mistakes right? People would try to sound native so they could blend. Hadar is it ok to use your own voice not something you have heard on tv, and try to imitate? People already appreciate the fact you know their language and try to speak with them. Is ok to mispronounce sounds in certain words, and people still figure out what you try to say, even though you're a native speaker? For EX: mispronouncing the TH in them because you don't have enough energy? And people still figure it by the context?

I'm going to an English speech recently. My teacher told me to stress the important words, but what I practice always sounds the same. I found out that I just speaking louder not a higher pitch after watching this video. It helps me a lot!!

Great pieces of advice! All of your suggestions are spot on! It's glaring obvious that you understand both native's and non-native's speakers perspective (difficulties, common mistakes) and can easily pinpoint what should be fixed or adjusted. Chapeau! (tips hat). I find myself overdoing: - linking and reducing even stressed words or elements of a sentence - flapping T's and D's across words (last syllable of a word flapped with the first sylable of the following word) over using stop consonats Those two major "habits" lead to an either broken or too rushed rythm in a sentence, preventing all those natural "pauses" ,by holding for longer stressed words/syllables (a chance for the mouth muscles to relax) to occur resulting in an increasing tensed up jaw and a pressure cooker race to keep up the pace in order to not trip up or get stuck while speaking.

Mam, your lesson is great. I wish I could be in your country and city to join your classes. Your tips are very worthy. To cite an example, I have seen may teacher(s) teaches lesson on speaking English in a natural way totally different than yours which I found not much productive. They teaches more of right pronunciation than delivering a speech, like you said volume is less important than pitch, softer should be consonants and connecting words in a sentence. Thank you so much for rendering such service for newbie like me. God bless!

Nevertheless, I'd like you, please, to make it clearer what the difference between "pitch" and "volume" is as well as having more practical and real examples of what and what NOT one is supposed to do like when you read those few lines from the book; after all, as you well said, it always comes down to practice !
