Accutune King Icon Archive Garage Suspension Lift on my 3rd Gen Tacoma

I've finally gotten Accutune's King5A Suspension upgrade installed in my 3rd Gen Tacoma and man what a difference it makes. The kit includes King 2.5 shocks, Icon RXT springs and UCAs, Archive Garage shock relocation towers, AG spring hangers and shackles, and AG U-Bolt flip kit with bumpers.

Did you go with the whole enchilada or did you skip the extended length rear shocks?

@@JohnTYoung As much as I would love to I ended up settling on the stage 3 suspension. I run a ARE Shell and camping kit in the back but that's about it, so the 2.5 should do the trick. I guess the worry always is future plans and limitations if I ever start hauling more stuff.

I am looking for comfort ride also. Have a 02 taco extra cab. But have 3 kids now so i might get the newer double cab then drop a good amount of $ like your.

@@hmongwild If you get the TRD Off Road suspension you'll like the ride, even without any mods. Best riding truck I've ever owned.

I just ordered my kings and I’ve been watching a ton of vids. This one popped up and I happen to live right next to glenwood. I’m going to give that shop a call tomorrow and see if they can help with the installation. Thank you!

The ubolt on the flip kit are too long. Cut them almost flush before you hit a bump and cause problems. Awesome setup

I went with the same set up from accutune but with the fox shocks. Running almost an identical set up with camper and tent. I’m sure it’s amazing either way kings or fox. Looking forward to getting mine installed!

This is like looking into a crystal ball haha, I have been strongly considering that same Accutune package (on my nearly identical 2019) and I think this just cemented it for me. I’ll be running an aluminum topper with an aluminum hardshell tent and had been worried about the icon springs handling the extra weight. If you are only using the second option, I think I will be safe to run it using the third stage. Thank you very much, it is very helpful to hear from someone that is running the same trails at a similar weight. Also, did you take care of the hangars/ relocation kit, or did you have a shop do it? If it was a shop, which one? I’m in Castle Rock and have been looking for a shop that can do what I can’t on my truck. Thank you again, and I would love to hear your thoughts running that setup now that you have had it a while. Any regrets?

I absolutely love this set up. No regrets at all. On or off road it rides great. @Lyft Off Road in Glenwood Springs installed the hangers and the shock towers and did an amazing job.

I'm looking at the same setup for my 2017 Taco (Dbl Cab, Long Bed) and trying to decide between Fox 2.5 DSC and King 2.5 Adjustable myself. AccuTune provides custom "tuning" of both the Fox and King shocks. Which one did you get - Street, HD Street or Trail?

I got the Kings with their Street- ish tune. Great for high speed desert roads

Did you upgrade your brakes with all the extra weight? I just weighed my truck this morning and i'm about 300lbs over GVWR without any humans. Noticed big sag in rear end after adding some weight in the bed. Looking into what I need to do next.

John one last question. I’m about to install similar set up but still have the factory bump stop. How do you like the accutune bump stop and have you find the ground clearance beneficial out there in Colorado with the ubolt flip? Thank you trying to see if I should just buy it to not have to do it later

It’s pretty rare I hit the stops, but when I do it’s a non event with the new ones. I just went ahead and did the flip. I do any negative to doing it, a few for not. Having said all that I built this for fast dirt roads, not as a rock crawler.

How long has it been with the suspension? Have you service the kings yet? If so how many miles you got out of them?

I have not touched them and they still work perfectly after 70000 miles.

Hearing same thing as well.....KING is the shit I wanted a trail boss (chevys version of TRD pro) but same thing 10k extra for lift and tires (Rancho).....so I bought an RST and will make my own trail boss with way better componets and will save about 10k as mine will be equal to LT TB which is 55k plus and I have same exact interior just not susp and tires..... So yeah get all interior goodies you want cuz they're hard to get done after the fact (some impossoble) but tires and susp is easy to do and easy to do much better than factory will give you....

What do you think of differential drop kits for tacomas, I heard it’s a 50/50, some people recommend it some don’t. I’m planning on lifting my 2021 with kings and im not sure if I should do the kit.

I only lifted mine a few inches 1.5 to 2, and it works fine without the drop. No vibrations or binding of any kind.

What is the offset on your rims and did you need a wheel spacer in the back to clear the new shock towers?

As I recall the rims are close to stock. I got them before the suspension kit. I ought to have some offset now as the tires just run the shocks a bit. Maybe a 1/2 would clear it.

Do you have a rock slider adapter for your high lift jack? If you do which one? Just bought a high lift and I’m wondering if I need one or can do it without. Have the same sliders as you thank you

I do not, but that’s not a bad idea. My BFGOODRICHs never seem to go flat.

@@JohnTYoung I recommend you buy the tire adapter because you have crazy travel just in case you need it and don’t have to lift so high from the slider

What’s your fuel mileage like city/highway. Any reason why you kept the stock tire size and didn’t go with a larger tire? Like 265/75R16

What do you mean the stock ones need to be cut out? In regards to the leaf springs. Are the icon ones not a direct replacement

I added the Archive Garage spring hangers as well. The old hangers need to be cut out.

Ive King 2.5 w Camburg UCA. My King front suspension tend to squeak often and I have to lube the top hat and any other areas the coil meet to get rid of the annoying squeaks. Do you have that squeaky noise from the King?

I have not noticed the Kings or the Icon arms squeak. The leaf springs however....

@@DUNESERPENTS Yes, but only lifted it 2 so I could maintain the 3" down travel. Works and rides great.

Do you still carry the hi-lift jack? Is the only location you have to use is the rock sliddlers. What happened to the Tacoma videos?

Hi Alex. I do still carry it, tho I have yet to get a flat with the TKOs. I haven't really added anything more to the Taco in a while. I'd like to re-gear it and add front and rear bumpers, but I've been busy riding my motorcycles. As the Taco sits, it's the perfect daily driver that can go fast off-road too.
