Let's talk about Icon's RXT Springs, the differences between the 3 options, and what ride quality is like for option 2 with different loads in the truck.

Nice review and showing how one would use this in real life with the different scenarios. I’m getting mine install tomorrow and after watching your video, will go with setting 3. I have about 400lbs on my truck consistently. Going from an Icon AAL 1.5”.

Hey, John! I appreciate the video. I’m two weeks out from getting an Icon Stage 8 with RXT springs. I’ve been racking my brain on setting 2 or 3. I have a Decked System and RSI SmartCap (around 420lbs) of constant load. Weekends I’ll add an additional 100-150 lbs of camping gear. I’m not looking for a super lifted look but more moderate. I also don’t wanna run 285/70/R17’s to fill the lifted space if the option 3 is too big. Biggest tire I’ll entertain is a 275/70/R17 or do like you 265/70/R17. For your overlanding mode you had a roof rack, tent, awning, cap, recovery gear, clothes, ice chest, etc. Would you estimate that weight around 500-550lbs or more maybe? I like the look of your overlanding rear height with option 2 but just wanted to see that weight in comparison to what I’ll have. Thanks again and keep up the good work! Love the videos.

Great video! I'm about to install these on my truck but can't decide on option 2 or 3.. I have around 480 pounds unloaded with my rooftop tent, topper awning and drawers in the bed. I'm thinking about opt 3 but worried about the ride in the winter when I remove the tent.

I am torn between these Icon rxt or a Deaver leaf pack. I only have a 2.5" lift on Bilstein 6112 with 5160s on the rear. Runnning 285/70/r17s Falken. I know these arent custom leaf packs, but I want to go with an out of the box product. Deaver quoted me 6-8 weeks which i just dont wanna wait. Would you recommend these Icons? I dont carry any weight and my only trips or light camping or weekends with the wife and toddlers.

I do recommend them. They ride really nice and you can adjust the height and ride by adding or subtracting springs.

@@chrisginoc I would call Icon and ask them, honestly. I talked to Accutune (who I bought the springs from) who called Icon to work out the loads. Keep in ind that less is more with springs. They should be just stiff enough to hold your truck up and your very expensive shocks should do all the rest of the work.

I just read your comment I am on the situation like you I am looking at Deaver and Icon rear spring. I don’t have weights on my truck all the time. How do you like the icon add leaf spring? What setting did you do 1,2, or 3 ? I like my rear to be higher than my front. Right now I have Icon stage 3 lift kit on my 3nd gen tacoma. Thanks

Just a quick question if you could answer. I’m looking at getting these w/ adjustable shocks as well. I use my truck as daily driver, but also for work as a pool guy. I drive around 500-700 lbs worth of work stuff in my truck daily (tues-fri). Would you recommend going full leaf? I then go off-roading, forest trails, logging roads, etc when hunting in Utah and Wyoming? The drives out I got about the same 500lbs in truck then I empty everything out at camp, again w/ adjustable shocks. Just a thought do you think fill leafs? Also did you do your own install? Or have your lift installed professionally? I’m 47 and could prob do it myself but figure might be worth just having it done professionally.
@JohnTYoung
@JohnTYoung 3 жыл бұрын
I had the rear kit installed professionally since it included a lot of cutting and re-welding. I drive with a cap on the truck (#300?) all the time and it drives great. That's with one of the extra leafs, not both. Both might be too stiff for me, but maybe not you and how you drive.

Mark Brodeur weight is a matter of frame and suspension so it should not affect you load capacity as along as you don’t exceed the tires weight carrying capacity

@@JohnTYoung Just Subbed, this is the type of reply i was looking for while combing though your vid comments. I just ordered my lift, slightly more tame version of yours. King 2.5 extended travel fronts with SPC UCAs (considering trading out for that delta joint) with #700 lb springs. In the Rear King 2.5 standard with adjusters and a heavy dakar pack, I decided to plan ahead knowing this was going to be a bit stiff, but bumpers, armor, and a tent coming very soon. I want to do this once. The last piece of the equation is tires. I had pretty much sold myself on 265s to limit the speedo, mpg, and chopping compromises. But will i just end up wishing i had gone 285, dealt with the compromises until i could regear? Starting all over again would you do it the same? I am just nervous ill hate the truck with 285s until i can regear, which lets face it might be some time. I think id rather put the money into equipment and supplies to go have fun that an extra couple grand on gears. Long winded, forgive me haha.

@@RawLobst3r I have 285/70/r17s recently installed Falken Wildpeaks. Truck is slower and you do notice the effect. Mind you, my 17" wheels are barely 23.5 lbs and I still feel it.
