On May 27th a brand new translation will be available and this trailer showcases the differences between the original and translated versions of the game. Not only that, but a Castilian Spanish translation will be available on the same date, thus Load Word Team offers Italian, English and Castilian Spanish translations for the fans of the series.

I'm one of Japanese ACE COMBATs fan. I think this work was too hard, but you did it. ACE COMBAT 3 has the greatest story in all of the ACE COMBAT series, so you'll feel happy. good luck. (I'm not good at English, sorry.)

I remember I was I teenager, when by what miracle, I got the Japanese version of AC3, and was getting crazy as couldn't understand what was going on there. Also it was only 1 disc. So some years later, I got the English version, with hopes that I will finally see what was the story about... and I thought it was cut away by Russian pirates. Yeah, in our ex soviet countries, there were no official games, mostly pirate copies from Russia (which were still expensive for a poor country), and sometimes, they would cut videos. But I was even more shocked to learn a decade later, that they cut all that story away from the Western release. And lost all my hopes... until the moment, I saw your translation guys. You're really great. 💙 Love your work and wish you the best of luck for next projects.

Hiya, there's been one update patch since the release. This a brand new project that has been accepted by the majority of the community as the best way to experience AC3.

There is, but this project has no affiliation with the other project/team. It's not too uncommon for a game to have multiple translations. This translation has been made from the ground up and translates every single element in the game that has text, while also providing a few bugfixes. It's up to the fans which patch they want to use!

Will be any kind of subtitles for the radio communications which doesn't have the subtitles bar?

No. Precisely for the reason you've mentioned, as the original game does not subtitle them. If necessary, translations of them can be released as supplementary material. The barks have a rather simple meaning behind them and are mostly the same across all characters. There are also 3 instances of the game having unsubtitled scenes: Ghosts of the past, Betrayal, True ending pt2. The translation for those is supplemented separately, outside of the game. The scenes will also be viewable on KZfaq, subtitled.

They are already part of the release, 3 text files you can read separately, when you reach one of the particular scenes. You can also check the pinned walkthrough to see them subtitled.

Mission 00 material hasn't been really properly translated before, so yeah, if you're interested in some tidbits like that, the VHS is over 30 minutes long.

Happy to see this. I was never able to get Project Nemo's patch to work. Is this compatible with Duckstation?

Yes, it has the same compatibility as the original, retail game. If you can play the untranslated version, then you'll be able to run the patched one too. The process of applying xdelta patches is described on the website/readme. Depending on the version of your discs, you may need to apply conversion patches first, which are included too.

One odd question. It says that two missions have their intended BGM, when they didn't before. I want to go in blind, but I have to ask this: is Virgo one of those or is it still an unused track? It's probably my favorite piece on the OST.

Virgo is still unused. It's not part of the game at all, I think (that's my late night guess). The tracks in question were already part of the game, they were correctly listed in the soundtrack, but they did not play back. The western release also corrected that issue, or more like, circumvented it.

There have been offers for Portuguese and French so far. As of now, Infrid mentioned to wait a week or two before things settle down, then reach out to him. If you have a Twitter account, then @loadwordteam would be the fastest way.

@@carango1798 Yes. The translation is done from scratch, and every single piece of text, even burnt-in is translated. There are bugfixes for the soundtrack and the search engine. Side material like the manual, AppenDisc and M00 are translated too.

As an xdelta patch, as most translation works do. You apply it to your own clean copy of the game with a Delta Patcher. Since there are a few different 2-disc Japanese/Asian releases, some versions of the game might require additional step of patching. AppenDisc also gets an xdelta patch, which should be applied to the 1st/data track. Mission 00 promotional material will be uploaded to Archive.org for anyone to watch. You will be able to get the patches from the team's website.

No, that is outside of the scope of the current project. All voice acting remains untouched for the sake of the original direction.

It's a pretty bad sign that the announcement blog post for this English translation patch is filled with broken grammar and phrasing. I understand that post may not have been written by the same person who wrote the translation itself, but it still creates an extremely poor impression.

The organizer and the writer of the blog post is a non-native. They did not translate, nor QA the English script. The quality of the translation can be previewed on the walkthrough, which is pinned as the top comment here. In the grand scheme of things, the translation patch will not be judged by a blog post that will be soon forgotten, IMO.

@@DfactorLongplays I just don't see why you wouldn't put the effort in to producing a well-written announcement, considering that the thing being announced is itself a piece of writing. The poor impression the announcement creates could easily turn away the kind of people who could provide a lot of promotion and attention for your translation.

@@DfactorLongplays You can simply just run though any future change logs/ announcements though any A I program with the prompt... " Please proofread the following for spelling, grammar and readability. Give me a list of changes that you made and rewrite applying all the changes from your list." This will prevent any native English speakers from having a negative first impression, as I myself did, regarding the quality of the game's translation.
