If it's the shaders, then you could be running out of VRAM for your GPU, rather than raw power. You could try measuring VRAM usage with 3rd party tools when at 4x with shader, 4x without shader, 8x without shader and see the usage difference. I think the higher the internal resolution, the bigger the shader load as well. Plus, the shader scale, amount of passes and settings affect this too.

Either secret area or buggy spawn?After the release of this video I found out that there's a secret area in city area, but it's unknown how to get to it. Factory also has a secret +1 platform.

@@DfactorLongplays do you have to blow up some wall to access those secret areas?

@@BigBoyAdvance In the city level, the secret area is at the fork where you can choose to go either left or right. It's behind the screen, IIRC. In the factory, at the last stretch of the level when you're on a moving platform, being swarmed by flying enemies, there's a lonely empty platform. Jumping on the platform will spawn goodies.

@@mr.flame505_4 This is not the remaster. Since you've only played that one, in the remaster they've modified the level, so it's a regular pick-up (that also triggers an achievement, iirc). In the originals there's no way to reach it outside of this method or cheats.
