I like it! It sounds like victory. It would be the perfect sound for when you beat a level in a video game.

my favourite tutorial so far, learnt a lot and gonna put it into practice. (apparently if you want to post longer videos you can change your youtube channel settings to "director".....giving you unlimited time to explain all this stuff) =D

one of my favorite 'old school' analog patches is the good old campy trumpet.. like the first song on shine on you crazy diamond or whatever the name of the album that had that song was... they sound so eerie and emotive, i think maybe moreso than real trumpets because of the cold electronic feel to it

I'm renaming my video in your honor! Good word usage! Also, about the high-band frequencies, I often notice my high-band is far too loud when I make a CD for a long drive. I think it may be the differences in our speaker setup. Thanks for the comment.
@AcePincter16 жыл бұрын
brass is often too "synthy" but I've found some clever ways to make it quite realistic. using a envelope controlled bandpass makes a good "muffler" sound, and using the pitch bend wheel with a sharp adjustment on the beat makes it seem like the player's lungs are keeping time as well. We should discuss this further!

dude i really love this beat. nothing is wrong with it!!

Love that song... The vocals don't come in until something like 8:01 I remember.

Thanks! I will re-evaluate this and see if I can do it with a soft EQ.
@AcePincter16 жыл бұрын
It is! I am using a 3rd interval for the bassline, and it ended up being quite tricky to setup. every note has its own pitch adjustment! If I used a 4th or 5th interval it would be easy, but the mid-range freqs on the bass didn't come out.

Thanks! I think I found the problem - I ran the sound through an "analyze" mode EQUO twice, not once. My mix sounds more stable now, but unfortunately I can't update the video. Thanks all for the feedback.

@JosephtheBlacksmith14 жыл бұрын
Even thought the song is based on synth instruments, I recommend you sample a trumpet from a recording, I suggest Al Hirt. He solely bases his music on the trumpet and it would be a cake walk to find something that catches your ear. Just a suggestion.

This can be fixed simply by unquantizing notes a little. Dragging midi notes a little of tempo my moving them foward or backwards. This works wonders!

High light the end of you track, Go to the master level right click it. Go to create automation. If you have FL Studio 8 its going to be at the top of your play list. Bring it down got to the end of your track and place the automation clip the play your track. It will automatically fade out.

Thanks. I've re-EQed based on my feedback and speaker bias. Should I repost with better sound?
@Mar10Man9415 жыл бұрын
you can always get something else with a recorder, like most mp3 players or phones. then when u put the video together, just sync the recorded audio with the video.
@Mar10Man9415 жыл бұрын
again, very nice. keep up the good tutorials. was that the sytrus trumpet patch? i agree a bit with roup123 where a less bright instrument would be better and if its sytrus, you can just change the patch some more an it'll be fine.
@manictiger14 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it could be from the compression they used in 08. Weird; usually it was distorted instruments that would act up with the old compression scheme, not normal ones.

AcePincter great tut. I just have a question. When using the analyzer is your goal to get the middle line to stay centered? I'm a bit confused.
@darkitechture14 жыл бұрын
@manictiger He recorded the audio internally through the soundcard.

i think the belly stuff is a lil bit too "sharp" also the delay is lil bit too much or not the perfect delay/echo vst... but it sounds great !

I like the song. :) Only thing that should be fixed in my opinion are high freq. They are bit louder and thats why is little harder to listen the song. Everything else is kool. And yeah, the bass drum kick should be louder. Peace.

@manictiger Don't forget that no matter how good your system is, you're still listening to it through youtube. I've got a good monitor setup, but still... You can only make turds look so much like chocolate, you know? ;)

Ace, just my personal opinion. I think it sounds a little thin. You know what I mean ? It needs some beef. No extra instruments or anything just beef it up.

Maybe he compressed it heavily, idk, but it sounds "off". I know exactly what a bass drum "should" sound like and I have a very nice sound system correctly set up, so I know it's not a problem on my end. I like his stuff, but I can't review this song (atleast based on instrumentation), because something isn't right about the mastering. It could be he needed more kick and less bass, but idk, that's his discretion.

i don't know if it's your mix (i doubt) or the compression that youtube use but the high band seemed over powering(contary to the eq on your app)and there was no definition on the lows. everyone loves boobies the idea of 'subtractive' sequencing is bankable as far as i'm concerned. i think the delay/reverb a bit out of time(i'm used to steps) i tend not to use synth brass because its too synthy nice work laters potatoes

I know this is more than a year old, but I have to point a a major flaw I've noticed when I compare the sound to the E.Q. in the video. You used a web cam mic, didn't you? I can't review a song through that thing. You should splice the audio into the vid, though, no doubt you probably know that by now.

lose the trumpet completely it does not work, maybe if you had an english horn with a flanger on it that would probably sound a lot better
