The other thing to consider is warranty. The Maxtrax has a lifetime warranty but it’s for vehicles under 7500 lbs. Actiontrax is 5 years with no weight restrictions. So depending on your vehicle weight, that could be a consideration for one or the other.

ActionTrax recently upgraded to lifetime warranty, no weight, terrain, or temp restrictions. Bring it on!

I’m not an expert on recovery but I know that’s not how you use a recovery track. When you got stuck, don’t move your vehicle and pretend that you are really stuck. Then you shove those track in the front or back (depends on where you are going) of the tires.

Well, in all fairness he acknowledged the "silly little hill". I thought the methodology and attention to detail were well above average. He just needs to go get silly stuck, fight his way out, and then see who really wins. You only need the good stuff when the chips are down.

I would like to see how well they do stacked. I have seen people stack them to bridge gaps to keep from hanging a tire and getting sketchy tippy. I feel like the max trax would do better, but with the extra bulk, maybe the actiontrax will hang also.

None of these boards are designed to be bridges. Maxtrax FAQ: "A: MAXTRAX are not meant to be used as bridge or a ramp"

@@dmarkofsky true but we still use them as bridges and ramps, so your point though good is actually irrelevant

ActionTrax are much more flexible. They will work as a bridge but must be supported from underneath with rocks, etc. and be doubled up ideally, though not required. Maxtrax may take the edge on bridging but that really is the least used capability of recovery boards, albeit an important one in that rare instance you're crossing a washed out 1/2 meter wide arroyo in Baja MX Highway 1... Generally the flexibility afforded by ActionTrax add increased contact with the ground and the tire in nearly every instance and the flexibility is the trade off to be able to not break in cold temps, under heavy vehicles, and stress concentrated around sharp rocks. We live in N. America not down under. These are made for our more typical conditions here right down to the larger hand holds to accommodate big Americans who wear gloves (no snow down under yeah?). 100% made in USA by desert racers.

@@USActionTrax plenty of snow here in Australia especially down south and in the high country. I think both are great products but the Australian made product is better for my needs.

Can you stack the maxtrax and the actiontrax together? I wonder...

No, they do not nest together, but they do have mount holes in the same places for standardization among rack / mount makers.

This really isn't how you use recovery boards so it's kind of a shitty, unfair test. Yes they can help in situations like this, yes they can level the vehicle when camping, however, they are meant for beach recovery where the boards are placed in a hole at 45ish degrees.
