Never thought that the one positive takeaway from the trainwreck that was Disney's Star Wars trilogy would be how much we love Adam and to some extent, Kylo Ren/Ben Solo but here we are. To be clear, I'm not complaining. Though I will never forgive Disney/JJ Abrams for wasting his talent.

He's just an actor. Actors are just like anybody else but instead of digging ditches they pretend to be someone they're not. Great actors are great liars. Just putting things into perspective a bit because that diatribe was insane (unless you are his mother who would know him that well). I like him alright too, but this celebrity culture is nuts. Also, he seems pretty serious not at all damn funny.

@Pipacs Levendula You're so right! No, I'm not going to slash you with a light saber... However, I will say it's not so much that he's angry and sad because of what he's been through; although it does help with his demeanor. It's more that he's found purpose in it. The first purpose is that demeanor, because he can act out how he feels once he is found by Ren. He knows he will be forgiven, because the purpose is greater than himself, even if he dies trying.
@DaleESkywalker

You see... *Ren is The Mystery Box"* What if Ren is the genius of the Force Sensitives? He figured out that Sidious was overtaken by Plagueis when he killed him as his host. When Sidious died, he searched out a (not a Sith) dark side wielder and took Snoke on as a host. Ren had been studying Vader's writings and is searching for the key to lock away the cancer that's been threatening the galaxy for the last several generations. Plagueis did find a way to become immortal, but not in his own body. He is not part of the Living Force, he is the cancer. This ties everything back to before the PT, and explains Sidious' dual personalities in a sense. ~Not that it was needed. Scenario: He's as wise as Palpatine, but not even half as powerful. He's studied the Sith, the dark side, the Jedi.. no way he can beat Snoke, except by outwitting him, and even that's a challenge he knows is too risky, knowing that he's has (knowledge of) the key to lock away the dark side for another thousand generations, or hopefully forever. He and the Knights of Ren trained at Luke's academy, and also trained Ben with Luke's resolve to stand before the Emperor before he told Ben to join the dark side, "Learn the dark side powers. Earn the trust of Snoke. You will have to kill someone close to you -- show him the light is gone." Someone that means a lot to you; possibly even Luke, as he is also considered an enemy of Snoke, or will be soon - this is what Luke saw, as well as possibilities of his father and mother and other students he'd been spending a lot of time with. When someone reads Ben's thoughts, he can see what is in their mind also, which is why he woke up. Luke was rifling through the scenarios faster than Ben had even thought of them. The Master of the Knights of Ren will handle the worst parts, but he must not give any information away, since there may be another threat behind Snoke. If the wrong people find out, the whole plan could be shot, so he's not giving too much information to anyone else, just enough to carry out their part. Now that Snoke is dead and Kylo is perceived by the First Order as the new Supreme Leader, Hux sees he's not ruling the galaxy with an iron fist, only the First Order; and mainly him - much like his grandfather. He's getting angrier by the day and started a plan to find and kidnap all the force sensitive kids, drug them and train them to do suicide runs and terrorize the galaxy his way. He also wants to narrow the chances of Kylo finding an apprentice, so this also works for that purpose; and is constantly looking, waiting for a chance to overtake him. Kylo, of course, can sense this, and proceeds with caution. Snoke is in fact dead, but he's waiting in limbo for a Force Sensitive in tune enough with the dark side to take on as a new host. Anakin, Qui Gon, Obi Wan and Yoda all know where he came from, and now that Luke has joined them and become one with the Force as well, he will know too. Obi Wan tells Luke what this thing is - basically an Anti-Force enemy - a cancer that consumes power, and then everything else until there's nothing left. It drains you of your soul and leaves just enough light to keep you alive, but once it's been in you, it is a part of you. Yoda explains "It matters not, what it is and where it comes from. Interfere, we cannot, for the wisdom must come from the Living Force to lock him back into the prison, to be passed on as a legend in case it's released again. There is a looming presence that Ren does know about, but it's feasible that it's not in the force at this time - not a live threat anyway. He does sense we're running out of time though.

I came here after watching Marriage Story a second time and realized this interview is a year old. And even a year back he had a prolific career. But 2019 is like the year of Adam Driver! What a brilliant actor. At this rate, he’s going to be the De Niro/Pacino of his generation (if he isn’t already).

How ironic, I joined the military a month after 9/11/01. Of course I stayed in until I retired and had a successful military career. Then started acting, definitely not as successful as Adam though. He’s perfectly articulated the correlation between serving and film production. Definitely an incredible actor.

Terrific interview. Saw him a couple days ago in “Burn This” on Broadway, so my wife and I are in the throes of all things Adam. It is inspiring to see someone so completely dedicated to his art and his craft; he couldn’t care less about the trappings of fame. So thoughtful and intelligent. And (along with the interviewer) such a great listener...so careful to communicate clearly. His take on the similarities of military life and acting was absolutely fascinating. My wife and I almost shat in our pants when he mentioned a play by a friend of ours, Scott Organ. Very cool. As an actor dedicated to his craft, he’ll continue to improve. His best is yet to come!

I am fascinated about Kylo Ren character because he represents the internal conflict between the id, ego, and super ego. The conflict of the self and its emotions; fear vs confidence, pain vs peace, anger vs love. Waiting for this conflict to be solved in the last movie. Amazing the way Adam develop this character in each movie. Congratulations! "See you around kid" in future productions to come. Wishing you the best of success and thank you Adam for sharing who are you to inspire others. Thank you Janelle for such an excellent interview! May the force be with you all!

I think (other than the fact that he is extremely handsome) the attraction people have for him is how realistic he is, you can tell he's being genuine and if he thinks it'll be funny he says it even if he's embarrassed by it but he's not afraid to say what he feels. He articulates words in a very welcoming and inclusive way. So many people especially in fame are putting on a persona which is neither good or bad but you can tell he isn't.

As everyone in the comment section has said, amazing interview. Fascinating how Adam's body language changed when he first went in, looking highly uncomfortable and tensed to how he got more expressive, hands moving around, even laughing and smiling, nerding. It went from the feeling of being interview to 2 friends having a chat. I also love how he quietly asked "Is it okay if I drink my coffee?" and "Please stop me if this gets boring." He doesn't act like he's one big actor but just humble AF. I lost it tho when I heard that he created a Fight Club, the first thing that came to mind was "First rule of the Fight Club, we don't talk about the Fight Club!" Jenelle, like everyone has said in the comment session, is just brilliant. I could listen to the 2 of them talking all day.

Recently watched: A Marriage Story. I rarely cry but that last scene was one of those heartbreaking moments where I shed a single tear. Adam and his co-stars on Starwars are some of the best actors of this generation even if Disney mishandled the brand, the actors deserve recognition for their efforts. This was a wonderful insight into Adam and wish I could count him among one of my friends.
