You may want to consider creating a tiered structure in the shrimp pond. It allows them to utilize the water column more efficiently. They will grow faster and have more natural food by increasing the square footage instead of them all crowed on the bottom. We used to do that in the 80's at Miss State experimental ponds. Make a frame(s) of 1" PVC and folding chair webbing or window screen sunk in the pond.

You have a great opportunity to see fish behavior change from being in a aquarium where they only eat when they are fed compared to a pond situation where they can feed anytime they want. From what i have seen the aquarium has them much more aggressive than the pond. Moby has completely changed his crazy aggressive attitude since putting him outside. It will be interesting to see how tiger does when moved later on.

I was raised in a village in India and we had a small pond. The pond used to get filled with fast growing weeds. Pulling the weeds every week from the pond was a mammoth task until someone told us to put a few tilapia fish in it. Amazingly the tilapia ate all the weeds and we started harvesting fish. That was great for us.

@@bwalker176 uhh, no, you're having the audacity of judging people life and food condition without even thinking of what you're saying. Even in high income country like Japan, South Korea and Singapore, or even China or India (the Middle East diet is not that far off the Mediterranean, so I won't count them), people there love what the west considered as "exotic" or "subpar" food. Tilapia is one of them. And before you say anything, South Korean eat dog too, they just don't want to talk about it.

Love seeing all the progress of the pond and all the associated areas. Will be fun to watch the small pond transformation this fall. Bass name for contest TANK - fitting since I am always hoping to catch that next Tank. 😂

I don’t feel the need to comment very often, but this was one of the most interesting series I’ve come across. Amazing job dude! You have such a beautiful pond and your hard work is paying off. You and your family will be able to enjoy this for many years to come

Tilapia are very aggressive bedders. They've out-competed native species here at the St Johns River and took over all the bedding sites. Just a little warning.

I didn't think so being how far south he is but it sounds like his pond will get cold enough to kill all the tilapia every winter
