I found this right on time!!!! I am attaching a skirt to a leotard. You are sooooo awesome!!! Lol the only people who don’t rip are those who don’t sew!!!!! Facts!!!!! Thank you so much!!!

Glad you liked that comment. It's funny how may people let little frustrations like having to rip STOP them from sewing. Thanks for watching!

You are such a charming person. So good to have you back! As a beginner, with a new interest in stretch sewing I learn a lot from your tutorials. Hugs from Australia.

The foam board trick is awesome. Thank you! I'm adding a skirt but don't have a child size mannequin to put it on

I have clients in every size imaginable, so the foam boards are a lifesaver for me. Glad that tip helped you!

Unfortunately, I can't video and work on competition costumes at the same time, so I'll be doing this after the season. Plan to get started back in the spring after we move into our new studio space. Thanks so much for watching!!

@@RhinestoneQueenCostumes oh no, I didn’t expect you to show us competition costumes. Last year I watched your channel to learn how to start making my daughter’s solo costumes. This upcoming season she is doing lyrical or contemporary so this series is super helpful!! I’m not far from you either. Live in St. James Parish.

@@RhinestoneQueenCostumes I have a couple questions. When you sewed the skirt on, did you "zig" off the edge of the chiffon? Also, do you have any tips for sewing stretch fabric skirt on top of the leo? Do you ever sew it directly on top, versus upside down and then flipping? My thought is that if you are covering with rhinestones, sewing directly could work too.
@RhinestoneQueenCostumes3 жыл бұрын
@@vanessavitiello4943 I did a backstitch to finish my zig zag seam. And, you're right about sewing stretch fabric as a skirt. I usually sew that directly on top because there's no serged seam to hide, and there are always those wonderful rhinestones!!
@vanessavitiello49433 жыл бұрын
@@RhinestoneQueenCostumes One more question for you... if you were going to apply non-stretch fabric vertically or diagonally on a bodysuit (for example, if it was a chiffon ruffle instead of skirt), would you use the same technique of leaving space between pins? I would think so, but would love to hear your feedback.

What mannequin do you recommend that’s versatile in sizing?

I love your tutorials! I was wondering why you use the foam board to attach the skirt instead of just using the mannequin?
@RhinestoneQueenCostumes Жыл бұрын
I like being able to pin directly into the foam board and being able to hold it in my lap. The mannequin would certainly work. I just find the foam board soooo easy to work with.

What kind of stitch do you use on the hem of the skirt? I have the same sewing machine as you
@RhinestoneQueenCostumes2 жыл бұрын
I use the one in blue (S1 setting for length) that looks like a bunch of connected X's. It has a dotted line black zig zag next to it. If that doesn't help, PM me I'll send you a picture of the one I use. I can't figure out how to send a picture in this message.

What material did you use for the swag?
@RhinestoneQueenCostumes6 ай бұрын
That one is chiffon. I also use stretch mesh for skirts and swags, but my preference is always silk chiffon when I can because it moves so beautifully when my clients dance!

I bought the one I use from Joann's. I've had it for 10 years, and its nearing the end of its useful life. My knowledge of mannequins is limited to what I have, and I'm not thrilled with it. I'd prefer one with legs and an adjustable girth, so I'm still on the lookout for the "perfect" mannequin, too. Mine adjusts the circumference at the bust, waist and hips if that helps any. Wish I could be more helpful!
