I absolutely agree. These are controversial statements, but I’ve been around family and friends who would not drink water from the east coast of America. I have also watched several things on KZfaq about tea like that and people were turned off by it and made disgusted comments. Girls like these are far less filtered and will hopefully grow as they get older. I can only hope they were genuinely idiotic enough to play it up for the camera and stupid enough to post these things.

@@Rattlsnke that’s because half of Americas tap water is foul. I just moved from a state where’d I’d drink water straight out the hose, now if I try that I’d barf lmao. I honestly think people just get too offended too easily. I’ve never even heard of this girl until now. Sure she could’ve gone without saying anything like that, but to let a handful of people who shit on a country or a specific store ruin it for the rest is ridiculous. In America we do not care if other like everything here or not. Plenty of other countries have trashed us about how overweight the people here are, how big the servings are and how unhealthy the food is, has that affected anything? No. They can have that opinion, so I’m lost where she’s not allowed to have the opinion that she’ll get sick, if she knows that it can happen there. Or the shit coffee when I mean it does go through that process 😂 who cares. The people who like it will keep going, and if they let some random person affect that, then that’s on them.

@@Tata83102 Another good example is Mexico. I’ve heard of many people only buying bottled water and literally only brushing their teeth with bottled water. I’ve also heard of people getting sick off of it. Be it a rumor about a place or not people can speak their minds. You are exactly right about the shit coffee too. Spilly saying it’s the most expensive coffee in the world is such a poor and irrelevant argument. I personally don’t know if I could drink it at all, I don’t care if it’s $1000 a cup and I got a chance to drink it for free. If I did, I would still would likely have comments amongst my friends about it. The only issue with these girls is how they spoke about it and then posted it online with her having a massive following. I’m from the US and I’m moving to Thailand this month for work. I’ve been talking to a BUNCH of locals about how I can respectfully live on the island without disrespecting the culture and practices. For example, I’ve been studying up on Buddhism and Thai food and culture to make SURE that I am not disrespectful in anyway. After all, I am moving to THEIR country and I’m so grateful for all the help locals have given me so far!

from someone whose studied parasitology, I can understand her concern with water and fruits and veggies. however, she is likely in a tourist-y area and won't have to deal with those issues. shes in an extremely privileged position and instead of learning about their culture or any health risks, she just bashes the people pretty much. she's also perpetuating stereotypes with 'bali belly' like instead why dont you be concerned for the natives health too?

As a traveler, whose been to Bali and one of these Kopi luwak farms, let me tell you that before they let you try the coffee, you get a full tour of the facility, a description of the process, and an explanation of how the process relates to their culture. The purpose of all that is to have you truly appreciate what you are eating/drinking. Adelaine apparently didn't listen on that tour or didn't care. Also I never got Travelers Diarrhea in Bali or anywhere else in Southeast Asia. I always visit places to learn about the customs and cultures of different people, that's my favorite part of traveling.

Man, it sucks to see Adeline in controversy. As a fan of hers since 2012, I can say that Adeline was never this problematic. She used to always be the bubbly, funny, cute and just an all around positive happy girl. Ever since her and Matt broke up, she has changed. I understand that people changed after a break up, however; she changed but not for the better.

i’m so glad that i’m not an influencer because i can recognize how this is insensitive and ignorant but at the same time i feel like i absolutely would have made the same joke. the culture is beautiful and that’s amazing that they can make coffee that way, and calling it sh*t coffee is misinformation because there are no feces in the coffee. and maybe it’s too vulgar for a person who claims to spread positivity to make that joke. but man do i feel like i would have said the same thing to my friends and probably would have had the same attitude about it. i’m glad i can learn from others’ mistakes.

I'm not from Bali but ive been there a few times & have relatives that live there. The people are SO kind & chill af. Beautiful scenery, beautiful people & beautiful weather! even when it rained it was warm. There is a sense of community & they truly do love their land, i just wish tourists did too. don't litter or make the beaches unwelcoming for not only other locals but other tourists & for nature too! Please respect the land which you on, wether it be at home or another country! 💖 (also the water thing, i think some ppl have sensitive stomachs to a change of their water but usually after a week or 2 its fine. stick to bottled water if u are sensitive!)

we have civet coffee here in davao, and never have i heard people complain about it. sure, they were surprised about the coffee's origins, but in the end - they like it! i am still yet to try it, but i've heard plenty about how it's nutritious. also, man, since the pandemic are there a lotta of self-important, self-imposing tourists who think they own the area they're vacationing in and think they have the right to disrespect not only the culture, but also the locals, the infrastructure, even themselves by acting like they're having the time of their lives. i am honestly tired of ""influencers"" like her thinking that american tourists/white tourists are so welcome in other countries so they can shit on it however they please :/

I love how she's explained "Bali Belly" like this isn't an everyday occurrence in other countries. Your body gets adjusted to certain bacteria that is in your local water. Traveling outside of your area to ANY PLACE else can make you sick. This could be within your own country or other countries. Naming this after a specific country is stupid. It happens all of the time. When I went to Mexico I got a really bad upset stomach from drinking mixed drinks because of the ice. I would still go back to Mexico in a heartbeat. I didn't call it "Mexico Belly". I called it travel belly because I was traveling and I got sick. Or ya know travel sickness is also a great way to describe it.

I live near bali island and have been visited the island so many times. here in Indonesia, each island has their own culture and we all respect it when visiting other island, so I get it if some people feel offended by the "tourist". It could be that she's living in a circle of people that has the same culture as hers therefore she's not aware that what she did could offend someone's culture. tbh, it's a small mistake from her side, she just need to be better next time and learn from this experience.

think about it. it’s like someone from another country comes to ur town/state/country and makes fun of everything. maybe ur town has a tradition to sign xmas carols on xmas eve, and the tourist makes fun of it and shares on social media for the whole world to see. it’s different when u picture this treatment in ur own situation. i’m sure this happens a lot, but she’s under a microscope bc of her amount of followers. she needs to educate herself and think before she posts. she needs to do this before she gets canceled and her career ends. i’m sure this is a learning experience.
