I travelled to Passaic, New Jersey to try Filipino foods for the first time. Watch me react to chicken adobo with oyster sauce (adobong manok) and I try ginisang labanos (Filipino sauteed radish pork and shrimp). I also try maruya (Filipino banana fritters). This restaurant in New Jersey has been open almost 50 years and has some of the best Filipino food around Manhattan. I also go shopping for Filipino groceries. Thank you to the kind staff who had an incredible spread of cooking from the Philippines. This Filipino restaurant is worth the trip!
Episode Intel:
Philtrade Food Center & Restaurant
231 Main Ave, Passaic, NJ 07055
Reggie Ate: Adobo with Oyster Sauce, guisadong labanos (radish) with shrimp and pork and banana fritters (maruya) made with saba bananas.

You should now start using ATCHARA ( Pickled green papaya ) the Filipino version of Kimchi, with your meals. Atchara is basically a palette cleanser, so you can enjoy multiple dishes while dining without the aftertaste. It is sold in jars at Asian stores. If you can find it freshly made, even better.

Canadians are so polite, kind and more nicer. Majority are respectful of other cultures, Thank you for liking our Filipino Food Sir. I am a Filipino living in Seattle, Washington, Vancouver B.C. is just the border between U.S. and Canada, we used to drive every Summer or often as we can, it is only 2 hours drive..

Cool vid again, and just a little quick hack. Any filipino dish is good with patis, calamansi, and sili (red pepper from ph) then you mix it all together crush the sili, squeeze 2 calamansi. And at least 2oz of patis. Best with soupy and stew ph dish specialy with Sinigang! Tinola and Bulalo!!

sir good day! all of the sides that has sauce don't need vinegar or any condiments because it's already good as is. Just as a tip. Maybe in some soups, you'll need one like bulalo, tinola, and kare2x but for the rest, you don't need condiments anymore.

If you ever want to recreate that Radish dish just slice the radish into batons and saute it in chopped garlic, chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, dried baby shrimp, and oyster sauce. If you are not a fan of radish substitute Upo (gourd), Chayote, or even Zucchini.

That is how filipinos eat with the condiments.... a dish is usually incomplete until you make your own sawsawan.... its not enough to just give you vinegar.... it must be adjusted for your own taste.... maybe add chilies, pepper, salt, soy or combination of any.... etc...

what you had was an adobo cooked in a fancy way. some cook it with pineapples on it. so many varieties. filipinos tradionally eat using their hands, but there is a specific way how they do it. maybe there is a yt video out there that will teach you how to do it the filipino way.🥳

Nope you pronounce it as ginisang not jinisang. And bagoong baa-go-ong. And it's long-ga-ni-sa. Not longgsnitsa. No letter t in longganisa.
