He had been treated for wet tail and luckily pulled through, but unfortunately also had some vision loss. A blind hamster is actually totally fine being blind. They don't rely heavily on their sight so it won't effect his quality of life

I agree. Hamsters don’t have the best eyesight sadly... 😞 They rely on their smell and touch mostly.

Mine did too. I left her with a sitter (found by the red cross) when I went to bootcamp and a school, when i got her and my dog back my dog had fur missing and my midnight was missing a leg and her ear. I would of had family care for them, but all the family I have is a brother and he is severly allergic to pet dander.

Cant believe its that easy to just walk into a store and buy an animal? In Norway we dont have that, you have to go to a breeder if you want an animal. We also dont have animal shelters because there are almost none abused or homeless animals, if there are they will get the care they need and get a home almost right away. If you get an animal they always make sure that youre able to take care of it.

In my opinion, that's amazing, you have to have proper knowledge to adopt an animal, that's very good. I do prefer getting animals from breeders, as in my opinion, their more knowledgeable. 😊

We have petshops where you can buy hamsters but they give you a list of things you MUST do and MUST NOT do. Which is really well. And they gave the hamsters the right products

I adopted a hamster from my local petsathome - Im in the Uk- and he was a little feisty and aggresive but now he is amazing. Only Con about him is that if you hold him for too long he tells you by peeing on your hands💗

Hamaters ,Art ,Talent And More!!! Don't get pets from pets at home. They sold me a dying rat. A hamster with wet tail. Two rats with chest infections.

Well I'm sorry you have had such bad issues with petsathome but i haven't. My personal opinion is that I feel that petsathome are very helpful and from my experience i have adopted 3 birds and 2 hamsters. They were all in perfect condition and I adopted them all without any issues💗

Lily the neko every pets at home is differant. Mine is very good at selling healthy pets and refuses to sell the small cages as permanent homes . ❤

Lily the neko Calm, all pets at homes are different!! The ones near me have amazing animals and the perfect care no sick animals. So one store doesn't change pets at home failing

I adopted my hamster from pets at home. I had seen him in the adopt section for around 4 weeks before I decided to get him and take him home. Nobody wanted him because he had an infection in one eye and his other had conjunctivitis. Now he is a healthy and mischievous hamster enjoying life in 3 big cages rather than in a tiny glass box in a pet store!

He is so adorable! He doesn't seem 100% blind. Wouldn't it be dangerous to have a cage with different levels if he's blind? I mean, he could fall of a high level or something/

Hamsters, for some reason, are pretty much invincible. I have two hamsters. 1 jumped off a 3 foot dresser and went down 6 steps to the living room. When I picked her up i was a mess but she was completely fine and just nibbled on some seeds when I put her back in her cage. I have another one who got out (I’ve now barricaded every side) and jumped four feet, wedging herself between the wall and my dresser. Again, I picked this one up and she was so chill and just went about her day and the entire time I was like wtf ????

The poor thing. He has such a great attitude for being blind, and he has such a great owner. I'm thankful that no one adopted him without doing any research about hamsters.

Your mom is so kind. First she adopted a 15 year old dog and now a blind hamster. I love her. Plus the hamster is very 😍 and seems healthy.

My Winter White is partially blind. He can not see at all out of his right eye, my PetSmart I got him from was going to put him down. My Grandma took me and my sister to PetSmart so she could adopt a Hamster they couldn’t sell. When we went back to look at her, I saw this tiny little guy in the back. I asked about him and she said they were going to put him down due to his eye. I begged and begged for him to go home with me. She agreed and I luckily had some saved up money at home. He’s now about a year old with a 40 Gallon Breeder. I trained him to always come to me. He loves to cuddle when I take him out in the morning. He’s doing just fine but it did take time for him to get used to how things work. ❤️You Pickles!

Help! Hi I can get a hamster now but the floorspace is quite short do u think 37.5 x 47 x 55cm is alright for a dwarf hamster( either a winter white or hybrid) Im gonna go pets at home to get the hamster and the cage the cage is called Large Plastic Hamster Home(Ill take it out everyday)

Raafiq Shahid That cage is very small and I wouldn't recommend putting any type of hamster in it. I would suggest waiting to get your hamster until you can save up for a bigger cage, or make a bin cage.

This is why I love you so much. I was at my pet store where I got my hamster, and I saw a family adopting a hamster. The worked said was blind and then they wanted to g3t another one. It broke my heart.

I adopted a half blind hamster from petsmart about a month ago and I'm so happy! He's very nippy but I'm trying to take things slow and trust train him. He's so cute and I'm honestly okay with it if he never wants to be handled, I still love him and I love seeing him run around his new big cage!

That pet store is huge! My local store is so tiny, the rodent isle is literally 3 shelves. And they are shorter then the ones in that store. They got rid of the reptile section completely and just sell the live insects for food. Bird section is two shelves only. I'd have a field day in there!! Very cute hamster btw :)

He’s so handsome! Cinnamon color is nice. As others have said thankfully hamsters don’t depend on sight as their main sense. Smell and touch is most important to them. So glad you saved him and also kudos to that Pet Smart store. They did a great job finding him a home and giving you that gift card 😎

Well done on adopting him :0 I think cookie is half blind, he has a massive alaska cage and acts like a normal hamster, but on one side he never sees anything, like you cn wave a sunflower treat and nothing. Over side: nom!

I definitely recommend adding more bedding for burrowing. Even though he is small, he still need a lot of burrowing space. I recommend about 6-10 inches of bedding. Otherwise, your new hamster 🐹 is sooooo cute!! Great job with the good sized cage.

小喵芋頭[Kitty Taro] Try not to interact with it too much. Because it's new, it needs a week or so to grow accustom to its home. It might act weirdly, but it's only because its still getting used to its home.

小喵芋頭[Kitty Taro] I'd suggest and 11-12 inch wheel just because Syrians do get quite big and they outgrow 8.5s really fast. Also if you want to get hi to be more used to you than rub your hands on some toilet paper and put it in his cage :) (not meaning to sound rude or anything)

wtf your local petsmart is amazing! the one near me is decent for supplies but they dont typically care about the animals and even if the animal is sick or injured they will try to hide the sickness/injury and sell it to an unknowing person. same with other petstores in this city. my friend bought a rat and she was sick from whatever type of food they fed her and had a broken finger :c it makes me happy to see not all petsmarts suck though

Thats a good petsmart. Most of the time they dont care about the animals, but i also got lucky with the petsmart near me. They give very accurate information and each animal has their own box suitable for them for when you buy them.

I was just shopping at Petsmart for my little bunny and they get sooo much cute Halloween stuff and even new toys and treats that yours doesn't seem to have. I guess all Petsmarts carry different products! They got so much cat stuff too that she can use I am so excited! Anyways, very precious hamster, yay!!

+Bonnie Bunny very cute ! got some of those mini dog toys by the register. the mummy, mouse, and spider. they were buy two get one and I couldn't resist ! plus a whole wall of Halloween dog treats all buy two get one. but I have seen special small pet Halloween items from petsmart in some older hauls on KZfaq. want them so bad !

Hamsters naturally have pretty bad eyesight. They rely mostly on their sense of smell, so it won’t make to much of a difference that they are blind.
