In this episode we sail Altor of Down, a Moody 44, from the Island of Canna on Scotland's west coast over to the Hebrides, Loch Skipport, Loch Madday and Stornoway before pushing off to the Faroe Islands.

Your whole trip brings back many memories from the past. I spent my teens sailing from the Clyde before going to Ontario, Canada many decades ago. The main difference is that most of the anchorages had almost no boats back then! Keep up the good work

Yet another well put together episode! , see Drakes Paragon is still holed up in Stornaway .Good look in the faroes watch the tides and the locals drink capacity!

Interesting to watch this episode and in particular about the Iolaire disaster. I shot a feature on this for the BBC Coast series back in 2011 with Neil Oliver and it was quite emotional to meet people from that period and hear their stories. I would love to sail there now but my wife prefers the warmer waters of the Med where we keep our boat and sail for 3-4 months of the year now that we’ve taken early retirement. Hopefully we’re going to sail to Greece this year from our home in Southern Spain if this wee beastie subsides.

Hi Gordon. Thank you for watching and your comment! It must have been really fascinating to dive deep into the story of the Iolaire disaster. It made a strong impression on us too as we observed the coast considering how difficult it would be to climb out of the water onto the island. I am not surprised your wife prefers warmer climate, as we also consider moving south eventually, however this season north it is. Brilliant videos; informative, fun, enthusiastic and true to life. Have been sailing the East Coast of England for 25 years and have just bought a new boat moored at the other end of the country in Largs, Firth of Clyde. Your enthusiasm for the West Coast of Scotland and great videos have inspired me to keep her up there and spend at least the whole of the next sailing season cruising the area and to follow your route. Keep up the great work.
