Aeris 3 in 1 Update #2 Klaara P7 Pro iRobot
Hello - this is Doug with another Aeris/Klaara P7 update…
So, some folks are asking where they can get the Klaara P7 which is supposed to replace the original Aeris 3 in 1 unit. In the last update I provided a few weeks ago - I mentioned that the Klaara was only being sold in Japan and it was expected to be available in the United States sometime in 2024.
Well, unfortunately things have gone south for iRobot since that update.
Here is a quick history for those of you new to the situation: Aeris the air purification company was founded in 2015 and their air purifiers were elite - so much so, that iRobot acquired their company November, 2021 for about, $72 million dollars…
iRobot manufacturers robotic vacuums - and they have been doing so for over 20 years.
Well, then, just 8 months after Aeris was acquired by iRobot, in August of 2022 - Amazon announced a deal to acquire iRobot for $1.7 billion dollars.
Unfortunately, the deal was never made as the FTC got involved due to concerns of a monopoly. So, the talks dragged on for months until about Jan. 29th, 2024 - about 4 weeks ago… when Amazon decided to stop pursuing the iRobot deal and I think it was on the same day of the announcement - that iRobot cut 31% of their staff and the iRobot CEO stepped down - his name is Colin Angle and he has a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineeering and a masters degree in computer science, both from MIT - so he is loaded with brains. And Colin was an original cofounder of iRobot in 1997 and he served as the CEO of iRobot since 1997, as well…so he had been the CEO for 27 years. The problem is - iRobot, as a company, has been losing market share the past few years - and I believe they actually lost money the past 2 years as their sales and revenue was down.
As we can see in this stock chart - they were hovering around $50 a share on July 18th 2023 but unfortunately, they are currently today - about 7 months later - their stock has fallen all the way down to about $11.63 a share so… things have gone very bad, and in a big way for iRobot recently and they are searching for a new CEO.
So, I checked with their staff on the availability of the Klaara P7 air purifiers which will be replacing the Aeris 3 in 1 units which were supposed to be available in the United States sometime in 2024… and here is what they said, “as of Today, iRobot announced a series of operational and leadership changes following the termination of the Company’s previously announced agreement to be acquired by Amazon.
As part of this announcement, iRobot will be pausing all work related to non-floorcare innovations, including air purification.
We will keep supporting Air purifiers consumers by servicing their products, but we will no longer sell any until further notice.”
So, that is where it all currently stands. I hope they hire an amazing CEO to help turn their company around and I really hope they make the Klaara P7 units available to everyone around the world, ASAP as the Aeris 3 in 1 units were elite, IMO… so, we just have to wait and we shall see what happens.
Stay tuned for more updates
Till then, have a great day.

@@AirPurificationEducation After hours of consideration, I decided to go with aeris. Then I discovered a seller which sells the aeris pro for 920euro and the aeris medical pro for just 750euro at a 46% discount. If I can use the normal aeris pro filter in the aeris medical unit I would buy the medical unit but if not....I'll have to think about it a bit more. The medical unit has a hepa 14 filter. Do I really need a 14 filter? Which unit of those units should I buy? I know the normal pro filter has a 2 pound charcoal filter which is better for vocs but if I can save more money by buying the medical pro and slap on the normal pro filter on it I would go for the medical pro.

I had the 3 in 1 in my bedroom for 4-5 months, running all the time, 247, on speed 5 but it doesn't have a lot of carbon... so it stopped taking odors out of the air, IMO. So I moved it to the family room and put the IQAir HealthPro Plus in my bedroom and the carbon/odor issue is better. In your case - I'd probably get the Medical Pro and then switch the filter to the 3 in 1 in the future. Good Luck!👍 @@fanfan867

Can you look into the Venta AH902 air washer. It claims to filter 99.995% of particles down to 0.07 microns and also doubles as a humidifier. If so this thing looks amazing and I would really like your input. Thank you very much!
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 3 ай бұрын
Ooooohhhhh! I like this... I am glad you mentioned it! 👍 I used to sell Venta Air Washers a few years ago... but think I viewed them more as humidifiers that cleaned the air a little as I don't think they were so focused on such high quality levels of filtration in the past. They were not marketed as such elite filtration solutions a few years ago, if I recall correctly. Now, it appears Venta has gone "all out" on the filtration side and I gotta say... I have become a HUGE fan of German engineering the past few years. I've become somewhat enamored with German engineering, in general... - even manufacturers outside of the Air quality industry. They are just kinda amazing for some reason... and I've even been researching why this is the case... a little, over the past few months... All that said- this is gonna be tricky for me to figure... by looking at a few online videos... I watched the video of the owner talking about the history of the company and where they wish to grow in the future - internationally. This video is 5 years old on The Venta Kuuboid XL Max and it claims 99.95% particle filtration at or greater than .07 microns. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pseimdRe1LymnX0.html&ab_channel=VentaAirTechnologies%2CInc. Now, they are saying they can hit "99.995% air purification of particles down to 0.07 μm" with the AH902. So, they've improved the filtration of their units by a lot in 5 years is what it seems. The filters are EN1822 certified which is very good and I currently trust German companies not to mess around with the testing methods or get their filters tested by less than desirable 3rd party testing labs. One of the big questions I have on this unit is - how well it filters over time when the filters get some dust/debris accumulation and I can't really see the seal between the filters and the unit itself. I am unable to examine the gaskets and how firmly the filters are pressed against the inside of the machine. The filters get put into the unit in a perpendicular manner and in my experience this typically does NOT create as good of a seal as filters which are placed parallel to the floor, inside the air purifiers, like the IQAir HealthPro Plus and the Aeris 3 in 1. So, at this point in time - that is the biggest chink in their armor that I can bring up with limited research... If I had to put money on it- I think in the real world - the IQAir HPP and the Aeris 3 in 1 will out perform the Venta from a particle filtration standpoint based on the perpendicular filter issue, alone. I plan on making a video on this "seal" issue in the future showing the different levels of seals air purifiers achieve by using a few different units... and "Parallel vs. Perpendicular" filter placements within the units. I could be wrong - this is just my initial, knee-jerk opinion at this point. Either way, I appreciate you mentioning this unit - Thanks!👍

My head is spinning trying to find the best Air Purifiers for my 1000sq/ft apartment. Have you heard of the Tracs TM250 or Amaircare 3000? I have a mold issue being taken care of as well as marijuana coming from neighbors and constant painting. I was thinking of getting the IQAir for the main room (because of your reviews!) and 2 Alen Breathsmart 75i’s for the bedrooms, but I’ve seen so many reviews about not so great customer service with warranty and bad packaging from IQAir that have made me wary. I found the Tracs and Amaircare because they’ve been used in so many professional settings and I have a multitude of health conditions that make me highly sensitive (lungs, former cancer patient, asthma). Do you have any advice on the direction I should go? Thank you!
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 4 ай бұрын
I have heard of the TRACS brand but I don't have experience with them. I looked at some of their offerings and they seem to make decent equipment. I am familiar with Amaircare as I used to sell their solutions and I know they make good equipment, as well. That said, I don't think either are EN1822 certified and I currently think the IQAir HealthPro Plus is going to be better at filtering particles than both of them - esp. the most important ultrafine particles. There is a fairly slim chance someone will have to contact an air purification manufacturer with warranty issues because the units typically just run a fan inside of them and they are really not prone to breaking. It can happen, but... warranty claims on an IQAir unit may be 5% at most over 10 years from customers, I am just guessing on this. Not like a dehumidifier which also has a compressor and I would guess dehumidification manufacturers have many, many more issues with warranties... So, I currently wouldn't let some poor reviews of their service prevent me from getting their unit. I don't think they really respond to the emails from their website (in recent history) - so I would call them and get the direct email from a C/S rep. if I was involved in a warranty issue with them... + they provide a 10 year warranty which is one of the longest in the industry... but, all that being said... Because you mentioned, "marijuana coming from neighbors and constant painting" - it appears you are getting Odors/VOCs in your environment on a regular basis and if this is true - then you may actually wish to talk with Airpura as they have units with 18 to 26 lbs. of carbon in their larger units and 8 lbs. in their smaller ones... and they are the closest thing to "carbon experts" that I am aware of. Plus, they make good units for particle filtration, as well - and I do trust these folks. Helder, the owner, is a straight shooter and extremely knowledgeable about carbon. And in the small chance that there is a problem with your unit - they will take care of you because they are really good at taking care of their customers. I think the 5 lbs. of carbon in the IQAir HPP may not be enough to solve the VOC issues you are encountering. Airpura contact info.: www.airpura.com/pages/contact-us I think the woman who answers the emails at Airpura has over 10 years of industry experience and has worked for another air purifier manufacturer in the past. So, I think she is fairly well versed on many things in the industry and you won't be dealing with "Amateur hour" when asking questions... You could also call them if you prefer. Good Luck! 👍

QUESTION, what if you have mice in your attic, only a sheet of 1/2” drywall stands between you and them, would air filters protect from all rodent associated illness/allergies? Thanks
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 4 ай бұрын
Very interesting question and Congrats! No one has ever asked me this question - in 16 years of consulting... If a good air purifier can help protect against covid, viruses and diseases... Then I do believe they could be effective against some issues with rodents. Allergies - yes... "All Rodent Associated illness" - I am not a rodent expert so I don't totally know... and I don't think even the best air purifiers would 100% protect against "all" of anything in the air. So, I would say a unit like an IQAir HealthPro Plus would be able to help protect someone against some issues with mice... but, I would never feel comfortable saying it will be able to fix "all/everything". Thanks!

2 questions for you! 1. I was reading that H14 hepa (medical pro aeris) may not be able to provide the higher level of filtration due to the increased need of fan power, so in reality it may be around 82% efficiency. Do you agree with that? 2. Do you think we need HEPA filtration in our cars or do we not spend enough time in them for it to be worth it? I’ve been thinking about buying the IQ air Atem car, have you looked at that unit? If so, do you know if it has the same filtration quality as a HPP for example, or if there have been any testing done on the Atem model. Thank you again for all the great info!
@AirPurificationEducation

1) You read that the Aeris Medical Pro, specifically - may be around 82% efficiency? or You read somewhere that H14 HEPA filters, in general, may be around 82% efficient? I tend to trust Aeris and their numbers. 2) I do think filtration in the car is def. a good thing. How much it affects someone's health will depend on how much time they spend in their car and also how polluted the air becomes from their driving environment such as city driving in NY bumper to bumper vs. a ride in the country with good air quality, etc. I have the Atem Desktop which is the same thing as the Atem Car but without the carbon. The unit is supposed to filter 99.5% of all particles down to 0.003 microns which is the same as the IQAir HealthPro Plus. Soon, I will be creating a fairly comprehensive list of air purification solutions for different applications and I currently have the Atem Car as the best car unit - that I am aware of. Thanks!👍

@GucciDiapie 4 ай бұрын
@@AirPurificationEducation awesome thanks! I will probably get the Atem. The h14 info was more a general statement on h13 vs h14, from a website called commercialairfiltration uk, they wrote “the increased density of an H14 filter means that less air is able to flow through the filter and therefore the system is able to purify a lower volume of indoor air. Similarly, the higher density of H14 filters compared to H13 filters means that there is a significantly higher electricity consumption as well as a higher risk for leakage in the air purifier that is fitted with H14 filters. Such leakage can quickly reduce the H14 air purifier's overall /whole-system filtration efficacy to 85% or less.”
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 4 ай бұрын
1) "“the increased density of an H14 filter means that less air is able to flow through the filter and therefore the system is able to purify a lower volume of indoor air." - Yes, in general, I believe this is true - however, we can't ignore the fact that there are different levels of quality of H14 filters on the market and different levels of quality of fans pushing air through the filters. So 1 test on one companies H14 filter with a specific fan will not necessarily yield the exact same results as another test on a different companies H14 filter with a different fan. 2) " Similarly, the higher density of H14 filters compared to H13 filters means that there is a significantly higher electricity consumption" - In general, this will be true - it will take more energy to get the same CFMs through an H14 filter than an H13 filter.... depending on what fan is being used and how many air exchanges one is trying to obtain. But again, who made the H14 filter? - there is going to be a be a difference in quality between manufacturers. And what fan are we using? 3) "as well as a higher risk for leakage in the air purifier that is fitted with H14 filters. Such leakage can quickly reduce the H14 air purifier's overall /whole-system filtration efficacy to 85% or less" - Well, IDK about this one... it could be very true for some H14 filters but maybe not as true for others. Plus, different fans will produce different air flow through the filter media. So, one or two tests on some H14 filters does not mean "all H14 filters" will behave in the exact same way, IMO. People in the air purification industry tend to take the data from one filter test and apply the results to all the filters in the market... They take the results from a test on a HEPA filter used in the International Space Station and then they try to apply those results to ALL the filters in the market that say "HEPA" on them... They think a $29 HEPA filter and a $200 HEPA filter will both behave exactly the same as the HEPA filter in the ISS... and I find this thinking to be absolutely ridiculous. We can't just take the results from 1 test on 1 filter made by 1 company using 1 fan and say that these results also apply to all the other filters out there on the market. @@GucciDiapie

That is Interesting and great to hear that it is available to some folks Internationally. They had dropped the price on the 3 in 1 to $550 in the US a few months ago (usually retailed for $750). And then it was not available for purchase shortly after that. I think they were possibly trying to get rid of their inventory to make way for the updated Klaara units. They told me they had updated the app. so the Klaara units worked with their vacuums. They had also told me in December, the Klaara was only being sold in Japan and it would be available in the US sometime in 2024. Then the Amazon deal died in Jan. and they said they would only be selling vacuums in the short term. So, who knows? They have a lot going on these days. Hope they "right the ship" and make them available in the US soon. Thanks for the info. - it makes me feel much better that at least some people can get the units. 👍😃

Mostly, I want to reduce the dangerous particles or breathing irritants entering my home and ensure safety throughout the year, even in circumstances I cannot always avoid or prevent. I also don't want a device that produces ozone. The square footage of the space is 50 sq. meters with a height of 2 meters and 80 cm. OK, so there is a lot of different things you want the solution to do... "From Smoking" - I'm not sure if that refers to someone smoking in the room with the unit and how much they would be smoking with the unit in the same room... that said... 1) IQAir HealthPro Plus - is elite for particles and very good for wildfires and decent for VOCs in reasonable sized spaces - It seems your spaces are not too large so it should do a very good job at getting air exchanges. It is also elite for ultrafine particle filtration. It has nice sized wheels so it is easy to roll around. So, I think that would be the best solution. 2) Airpura - makes good units - I'm not sure where you live or if you have access to their solutions but you could ask them what would be best for your environment. They have many different solutions and you have many different things you want the solution to do... but since your space does not seem too large - you may be able to use one of their smaller units - like the R400 or the V400. But you will want to ask them which is the best unit for your needs. Airpura Contact info.: www.airpura.com/pages/contact-us 3) Austin Air Healthmate Plus Unit: It has 15 pounds of carbon and should be pretty good for most of what you want it to do. It has wheels so you can push it around... Again, I'm not sure if you have access to it - depending on where you live. This is disappointing. There are few brands similar to Austin air . Like the Allen air. Airpura. I urgently need something for VOC from second hand smoke and vape. Do you think something with plain coconut shell carbon be significant? Which brand would be quieter to run on? I think My neighbour got a hepa purifier but like myself wasn’t aware of VOC. With that said the smell is almost nonexistent? But my consumer grade VOC sensor seems to pick up somethings

Hello Catherine and thank you for your inquiry. Yes, I agree, it IS disappointing☹ - if Aeris had never been acquired by iRobot - their units would currently be available all around the world. "Do you think something with plain coconut shell carbon be significant? " My knee jerk reaction would be I'd probably want some additional components in the carbon blend. Can you please say how large of a room are you planning to put the air purifier in? Thanks!

@@AirPurificationEducation it is for a multi floor town house . It’s should 700 sq feet for kitchen and dinner , upper levels are around 700 for few rooms. Alway saw some review where people can react to the potassium iodide. Sign not really sure which route to go
@AirPurificationEducation

The air purifiers will only work in the room they reside in. So, they won't "purify" multiple rooms on the same floor. 1) I'd try an IQAir HealthPro Plus as it is also elite for ultrafine particles. amzn.to/3NIJ6Uq It's carbon has "Bituminous coal, potassium permanganate, and impregnated alumina". So it does not have potassium iodide. I currently run this in my family room. That said, Airpura has potassium iodide in some of their carbon filters and I know many customers who love their units and have been very successful with them. So, I wouldn't shy away from Airpura because of this. I consider Airpura to being the closest thing to "carbon experts" of all the manufacturers I am familiar with... Their owner, Helder - really knows carbon blends extremely well. 2) You could check with Airpura to see which units they recommend for your environment/situation. You may be able to go with some of their smaller units if some of your room sizes are not too large. They have some smaller units that still possess 8 lbs. of carbon and I think they are probably great for most single rooms. Like the V400 and R400. They are also less expensive than the larger units. But, if you go with Airpura - you wanna get an Airpura with a "HEPA filter" - not the "HEPA Barrier", IMO. Here is Airpura's contact info: www.airpura.com/pages/contact-us Good Luck!👍 @@catherinecheung207

@@AirPurificationEducation thank you. I finally for to try Austin air for the first time. For my spouse prefer, it is rather Loud. I think we can only leave it on the lowest setting . Have you seen an air pura in person? Are they just the same ? Ironically I am sensitive to smell. He is sensitive to sound.
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 4 ай бұрын
Hello Catherine, Yes, I've seen the Airpura units in person but I don't know how they compare to the Austin units in noise range. Unlike Austin and most air purifiers which have set speed/noise points - the Airpura units have a radio dial for different speeds so you can choose many different points on the speed/noise continuum. If that makes sense. That said, I kinda feel like most all air purifiers that can move a significant amount of air are going to come with a certain amount of white noise... The Austin, the IQAir HPP, the Aeris 3 in 1 and the Camfil City M (which is in my hallway - and makes an "Industrial fan Noise" that sounds different than any air purifier I've heard...) all come with some type of white noise and I don't really know of a solution that moves a significant amount of air that doesn't possess this characteristic. ALL that being said - don't hate me for this... but I have the Aeris 3 in 1 in my bedroom on speed 5 which I think is 300 CFMs and I do think it is def. quieter than the Austin on high and the IQAir HPP on high (speed 6) which is the equivalent CFMs... I'm not 100% sure - I'd have to really check it... but now that I think of it... I think that may be the case... I know, I know - CURSE YOU iROBOT!!!👊😠 But since it only has about 1/2 the carbon of the HPP - maybe it would not be ideal for the smoke issue in your space - long-term You may wish to chat with Airpura about this noise issue as I think they will know how they stack up to Austin - since they are pretty much direct competitors. @@catherinecheung207

I used to sell Enviroklenz units and I sold a lot of them to schools/universities during covid because it seems they wanted a UV solution. I don't know how well the units actually perform when it comes to particles and ultrafine particles but I really did like the customer service levels they provided. They really tried to take care of our customers so that was a plus - thanks!👍

Someone commented 2 weeks ago on this video, "Here in Europe the Aeris 3 in 1 is easily available. I just have purchased 2 units in January (units produced in China btw). And I've checked now again: iRobot still sells it at a very competitive price on their website. Also in Asia its available, I asked the distributor in Thailand." I know it isn't currently available in the US but - I'm not sure about the availability in other countries.

@@AirPurificationEducation what else would you recommend? i need something with good load of activated carbon as im 3D printing but also work in the same room
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 4 ай бұрын
I do not have much experience with 3D printing environments - but, I've def. had some folks comment on them on my channel over the past year. I plan on learning more about these environments over the coming months... But, based on my current limited research/knowledge on these types of environments - I do think they sound like they can be fairly hazardous to one's health over the long term, for sure. So, if it were MY health on the line... I would: 1) Contact IQAir and see if the HealthPro Plus or the GC unit is better for my needs: www.iqair.com/ 2) I'd also check with Airpura to see what they would recommend, as well... Airpura: www.airpura.com/pages/contact-us and/or I found this email, as well... info@airpura.uk I think it is worth a chat or 2 with them as I view them to be the closest thing to "carbon experts" that I am familiar with. + I believe they have good particle filtration, as well. I'd try to go with an Airpura solution that has an actual "HEPA filter" but not the "HEPA Barrier Cloth" as it does not filter particulates as well as the filter. They told me 3 weeks ago there is a mistake (or multiple mistakes on their Canadian website) where some of their units have info. stating that the two filter the same... they do not. The HEPA Filter version is better, IMO. 3) I may also have some type of fan/exhaust system, as well, to try to get the bad air out of my space quickly... as a 3D printer person mentioned a few months ago. 4) One guy in a 3D printer environment - a few months ago, said there was an air purification unit on some online chat/forum which was being recommended specifically for that environment... but, I took a look at it and I don't think it was of good quality, at all... I don't remember which unit it was but the 2 options I recommended above (IQAir and Airpura) are solutions/brands that I would personally invest in for that type of environment. 5) I would LOVE to hear what solution you eventually implement and how it works for you as I def. get some traffic and questions on this particular environment and I may make a video on it some day when I feel confident I can recommend good options. Thank you and Good Luck!👍@@RathOX

1) I've had multiple people in different countries say they had access to these units over the past several months. So, they are available in some countries. 2) Last I checked, about 2 months ago - they are available in the US as refurbs at a discount. 3) iRobot got a new CEO a little over a month ago so hopefully they will provide us with an update on the future of the product in the near future. Just got off the phone with an iRobot service person. I asked if the aeris air purifiers are available in the US and they said yes, albeit in small amounts. Still called the 3 in 1 and have shipped out some intermittently but not currently in stock. May be a supply chain issue. I know they are able to produce them because someone I know got one shipped to them in March of this year for a replacement under warranty. So 🤷🏻‍♀️

Man, I'll tell ya - I am fearful that they may very well screw up this great solution. Time will tell, but I would NOT be surprised if they somehow mess it up. The new Klaara P7 is supposed to have an upgraded H14 filter in it - so, we'll see what happens but... I am very interested to see if it will be as good as the original... Wouldn't THAT be pathetic!!! ☹fingers crossed!
