IQAir HealthPro Plus vs. Aeris aair 3 in 1 Review
Buy the IQAir HealthPro Plus here: amzn.to/3NIJ6Uq
Update: The Aeris 3 in 1 is scheduled to be back in North America in 2024.
It will have a name change and it will now be called the Klaara P7 Pro.
The Aeris 3 in 1 had an H13 HEPA filter but the Klaara is supposed to be upgraded to an H14 HEPA Filter.
It will be able to interact with the iRobot vacuum system, as well.
It will be interesting to see what other changes have been made and how it filters in comparison to the past - as the 3 in 1 already possessed elite particle filtration capabilities.

How well the Aeris does at filtering VOC's and odors depends on what filter you use. In the US, iRobot sells 3 different models but they are actually all the same and only the filter is different. I work in a lab where we study decomposing human flesh so it smells horrible all the time until we got the Aeris with the Gas Pro filter and it has done an amazing job at reducing the smells.

GREAT feedback! My initial exposure to the TVOC filter was it off-gassed a lot and I was pretty disappointed but I also know - manufacturers can't be perfect all the time and I just kind of assumed a quality company like Aeris would have a solid VOC solution... I just happened to get a lemon w/ that filter. Thanks!👍

@@AirPurificationEducation Great channel you got here btw! Very informative and straight to the point. Btw, do you have any recommendations for a small desktop air purifier (for dust) that’s strong but quiet?
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 8 ай бұрын
Hey, thank you! 😃 1) If you want a "desktop" unit that blows clean air in your face/direction but doesn't really purify the entire room - you could look at the IQAir Atem: www.iqair.com/us/air-purifiers/atem-desk **I have one and used it at work for about 6 months and it seems like a very useful solution when you are in a room that is too large to properly purify. + it is supposed to be able to purify particles just about as well as the IQAir HealthPro Plus - which I would consider to be elite. 2) if you want a solution that fits on top of a desk that should do a good job for an entire room (depending on how large the room is)... A)Off the top of my head, I think the new Airpura R414 will do a good job (15" tall and 12" wide) www.airpura.com/products/copy-of-r400-the-everyday-air-purifier?_pos=8&_sid=a03022928&_ss=r B) maybe then a Winix 5500 and/or a Coway Mighty (these 2 options will be less expensive but I do think the more expensive Airpura filters dust better). Thanks for making useful and informative content. Seems that in many countries the Aeris systems' and filters' supply is done only by 3rd-party companies (most cases only 1). iRobot don't have it in their regional websites outside of US. That's why I choose IQAir for our family. Having a reliable seller coverage world-wide makes it a better pick - replacing filter wouldn't be a problem and won't rely only on 3rd-party supply.
@AirPurificationEducation

Interesting. I think by 3rd party you may be referring to Dealers. Like Distribution channels. I worked at an air quality dealer in the US for many years and we sold many brands including IQAir. We were their #1 dealer in the US for many years but they cut off all their North American dealers right at the early stages of covid, a few years ago. And they decided to sell direct to the customers. I think their service levels dropped dramatically when they did this as I had people calling me complaining about getting service from them. When you have a fairly large network of dealers - they can handle a lot of the Customer Service issues and deal directly with the customers - when you get rid of your dealer network - you need to significantly increase your C/S department as all the inquiries are coming directly to you (you cannot hide, lol). And they had several dealers in the US at the time. They have probably improved their C/S dramatically since then I would guess as they learned to deal with the increased service volume. IDK if they still have distribution channels in other countries or if they simply sell direct all over the world. Either way, they make elite products and they've been around a long time (over 50 years) so I don't think people can go wrong by investing in their equipment. Thank you!😄

@@AirPurificationEducation thank you for the reply! Yes, dealer is better wording. I just found only 1 place for Canada where you can find both the Aeris system & filters both still in stock. If they stop dealing them there's no way to order filter to Canada from iRobot's US website at this time. While IQAir as you said sells directly from their website, also via Bestbuy and Amazon. I took note of what you shared about the customer service from IQAir, and called before ordering. I wanted to test with inquiry about the logistics if there's warranty repair service needed. They explained that they cover the shipping and repair of the unit during the warranty period. I had absolutely no issues contacting them on the phone. It was shockingly fast - stayed on hold for only 2 sec. (during the weekend). At the end of the call they also gave me a discount code (it was a tiny value, but still a good gesture). Didn't try the email form as I trust your experience of never getting reply there. 😄

@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the question. Part of that would depend on the warranty that comes with the refurbished unit. I'm not a fan of the 2 year warranty they already offer on new units. I think it should be 5 years, at least... like so many other air purifier manufacturers. So, IDK about taking a chance on a refurb unit. I wouldn't want you to get it and have it die on day 91 and you only have a 90 day warranty and be like, "that Doug guy on KZfaq told me it sounded like a good idea."😠 LOL! iRobot appears to currently be in financial trouble and their CEO stepped down last week and they have halted all things Aeris, for the short term. Amazon decided to stop pursuing the purchase of iRobot and there was a lot of fallout last week. I will try to make a video on it this week. Unfortunately, currently no one knows when any Klaara P7 product will be available - not even their staff. iRobot says they will continue to support the Aeris units on the market but.... I think the safer solution currently is the HPP. So, at this point, I would go with an IQAir HealthPro Plus. It is a great unit and I currently run one in my family room. Hope that help - Good Luck! 👍

It is really hard for me to know how accurate it is. I don't really currently trust any of them and there are so many different pollutants for monitors to test for that it seems hard for me to believe any single monitor is super accurate all the time for many/all of them. I have the 3 in 1 currently running in my room on high speed and it is very supersized for my cubic footage so I am getting many air exchanges an hour but the AQI reading currently says my air quality is 2 which is not the best... so how can that be I wonder? Now it says my AQI is 1 - the best.... so, what exactly changed in the past 5 minutes? 🤷‍♂

Hello, great videos by the way😊. Unfortunately you can’t buy the Aeris 3 and 1 here in the US. My IQAir Health Pro Plus arrives tomorrow. Two questions: Is the noise level on high really loud? Does it affect electric bill negatively? I have not returned my ALEN Breathesmart 75i just yet… I am still on the fence between the two.

Thank you. The Aeris is supposed to be available in 2024 in the US. Yes, the HPP is loud on high but so are most all decent quality air purifiers that move a lot of air. The average cost of electricity in the US is 16 cents per kWh. If you run the HPP on Speed 5 (which is 200 cfms) 24x7 for a month then it would be about $17.76 a month. The HPP is an elite solution for particles, IMO and well worth the investment. Hope you like it - Thanks!👍

Great content! Is boron outgassing a concern on these units? Why iqair recommend their gc model for people with mcs? In my opinion the best purifier was the purafil purashield smart 1000. And the best for particles is the probably Mann+Hummel OurAir SQ 1750
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 8 ай бұрын
Hello and thank you for the comments. 1) I am sorry but I don't know if Boron is an issues with these units. 2A)The GC unit has 2 and a half times more carbon than the HealthPro Plus (but it has the same type of carbon). So, I guess they figure MCS people need to take VOCs out of the air and they should go with the unit with more carbon. That said, I have known many chemically sensitive people (and some ever Super chemically sensitive) who LOVE the HPP unit. Some MCS people can't coexist with it because it bothers them (but this is not uncommon for MCS people - you never know what items will set them off/bother them). But, some very MCS people do love the HPP - and have said they can't live without it. 2B) I tell people the HPP filters particles better than the GC unit and therefore, sometimes, I think I'd rather have them go with the HPP if they can as it has elite particle filtration and will help better with ultrafine particles - which account for 90% of the particles in the air and are the most dangerous to us. Just something for people to think about. Also, they can get carbon replacement filters for about $99 so I think that is reasonable. 3A) PURASHIELD™ SMART 1000: Thank you for bringing this up. It does look like an amazing air purification solution. It costs $4,999 in the US and the IQAir HPP is $899 - more than 5 times the cost. So, it appears to be more of an industrial solution geared towards businesses. Their marketing literature says, "Ideal For Use In: Educational Institutions, Hospitals, Medical Facilities, Dental Offices, Dental Labs, Senior Living Facilities, Office Buildings, and Laboratories." 3B) It has a TON of CFMs - (1,100 CFMs on high speed) so it is super powerful and can cover a lot of cubic ft. So, yes - you may be correct - it may filter better than the HPP or Aeris, but IDK at this point. 4A) Mann+Hummel OurAir SQ 1750 - also looks like a serious air purification solution, as well. Seems to be priced at about $3,000 US dollars so it is very expensive and more of an industrial/business solution. 4B) So, I'd say the IQAir HPP and Aeris 3 in 1 are both B2B and B2C air purification solutions while the PURASHIELD™ SMART 1000 and Mann+Hummel OurAir SQ 1750 appear to be specifically B2B solutions as the higher pricing would prohibit the vast majority of residential consumers from purchasing them + they cover much larger spaces. 4C) What is SUPER interesting, to me, at least... is that ALL 4 solutions pull the air from the bottom - push it upwards through the filters and then release the purified air through the top. I currently believe this may be the best route for air filtration from an engineering standpoint. I'll be making a video on this in the future. Most residential air purification solutions (at least in the US) do not have the air move through their units like this. Thank you for your comments and opinions! 👍

Is the Aeris 3-in-1 HEPA H13 Air Purifier in your review the model #P101620 air? I'm thinking of buying a refurbished one. Will I have long term difficulties ordering replacement filters? What do you think of refurbished units in general?
@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 3 ай бұрын
Yes, that looks like the same unit. iRobot hasn't appointed a new CEO yet and they're currently not making the units available in the US + it is going to supposedly be replaced with the Klaara P7 but who knows what the future will hold? I do know iRobot lost money the past 2 years and that ain't good. Here is a video on the situation if you didn't see it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJh1mruLy8mmf4E.html So, if the refurbished unit comes with a warranty then I think that may be decent - I personally do not buy refurbished items. I think I would only do so if it came directly from the manufacturer with a warranty. They say they are going to support the current owners of the product but I don't know what the future of the product line is... and are they going to keep manufacturing filters for it if/when they run out of stock? IDK. So, I think it is a somewhat risky purchase at this point. It is much more safe to go with an IQAir HealthPro Plus, IMO. Thanks and Good Luck! 👍

Ha ha! I think they are just trying to have good relations with their dealers and I think they are currently trying to have their dealers "get more of the sales" and not have the sales come directly off their website, LOL! 😄 **Typically, the manufacturers will sell the units for more money off their own websites so their dealers/distributors get more of the sales - in hopes of motivating the dealers to "push" their solutions more. If the manufacturer advertises the units for the same or less than their dealers - then the dealers will typically get angry and it hurts the relationship between the two. **You can get the unit for $749 off of Sylvane.com and the replacement filter is $199 off their site, as well. www.sylvane.com/aeris-aair-indoor-air-purifier.html - Thanks!👍

@@AirPurificationEducation Hi. Yes, thank you for the advice. I have been researching the air purifiers in the past few days, and realized that the purifier is only as good as its filter media. You would think it should be obvious :) I just do not have enough confidence in most purifiers on the market with small flimsy paper filters they call "True Hepa 99.999...%" with a few "dozen" pellets of activated carbon on the back. And those filters are not cheap either. If there is an appliance in the house that draws electricity, it better produce results, and not just give me false sense of security. I am astonished at how few good air purifiers are available on the market. Last time I purchased one almost 10 years ago, was RabbitAir MinusA2. Coming back to the market after all these years, I see dozens of boxes of all shapes and sizes, that concentrate on max CFM and claims of percentages of the HEPA filters inside them. To me these are completely useless metrics. Kind of reminds me of the camera companies in the mid 2000's racing after who's got the most megapixels in their cameras, regardless of the quality of the photos they were able to produce. What matters to me is the CFM/Watt, CFM/db of noise, the Particulates and VOCs reducing capability, actual filter longevity / capacity, and the cost of filters/year. This kind of information is nearly impossible to find out, since nobody is going to go through the trouble and expenses to fully test each unit. I am glad there are people like you who have extensive personal experience with some of the best units and you are willing to share your experience with us. It certainly helped me with my decision. Thanks for the question. I am coming out with a new video ranking for 4 of the air purifiers vs. each other and there is a performance graph for the 3 in 1 for ultrafine particles which will better show it's elite filtering capabilities... Seems it hits about 100% at .01 microns. As about .15 microns appears to be it's MPPS - Most difficult sized particle to filter... Then as the graph moves to smaller particles - the 3 in 1's performance improves. That said, I don't think anyone would be making a mistake by going with the 3 in 1 or the HPP for ultrafine filtration as I currently think they are 2 of the best on the market. Thanks!

@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation 8 ай бұрын
Yes, you are correct - they are two different micron sizes and .003 is smaller than .1 microns. Sorry for the confusion. Also, the hazards of ultrafine particles is something I've been pushing harder on in the past few months after this video was made, I believe - as I've learned more about the topic and have done more research on it. There are many components and variables involved in the air purification industry and I have spent a lot of time the past several weeks trying to figure out the most important variables to focus on and how I can tie all the info. together to somewhat accurately evaluate different air purifier solutions to each other without using electronic air testing monitor devices as I have found them to be inaccurate. My knowledge and understanding of these things/issues/variables is a "work in progress" so to speak. 1) There is a graph in their manual that shows the 3 in 1 working at what appears to actually be about 100% at .01 microns however, most of the verbiage I've found online states "99.98% down to .1 microns". And for whatever reason, I went with the most common published info. I ran across and put that in this video. Aeris/iRobot, IMO, is not great at disseminating information on the elite performance of their solution for whatever reason... And many companies don't really just have their 3rd party testing results available for all to see... they tend to try to "interpret" the test results for us, LOL! And I think I've learned that many companies are finding ways to "talk around the actual results" to make their solutions appear to have performed better on the tests than they actually did. **Another reason I stated I think the 3 in 1 is better for particulate filtering is that I know of some folks who have tried both units and found more breathing relief with the 3 in 1 and I also know a trusted dealer in the industry who sells both brands and he informed me the 3 in 1 does, in fact, perform better based on his performance testing - and also IQAir customers of his who switched over to 3 in 1 units and received better real world breathing results, as well. So, for some additional reasons (outside of the specific "99.98% down to .1 microns" quote) I have reasons to believe the 3 in 1 is superior to the HPP for particle filtration and I feel comfortable letting people know my beliefs on this. And it is the unit I will be running in my bedroom very soon. 2) That said, they are both EN 1822 certified and I am in the process of trying to get the manufacturers to provide me with the results of their 3rd party tests. This may be easier said than done, LOL! (as Coway just completely ignored my request on this - they answered 3 of my questions but ignored the 4th on 3rd party testing). So, I'm gonna compare the HPP, 3 in 1, Austin Air Healthmate and Coway Airmega 400 soon - and I'm going to try to obtain 3rd party testing results from each manufacturer. You raise a very good point and I do want to hear what iRobot has to say about the 3 in 1's performance down to .003 microns, as well. We shall see. I cannot make any promises as iRobot has not been the best to get info. from in the past but I will be doing my best and I think this game is gonna probably be a marathon as opposed to a sprint. Thank you for the Quality Question! 👍
