Dream On is still another song on my favorites list, I put on the headphones, turn it all the way up and I'm Steven Tyler for a few minutes in my head. Because in my mind, I can hit those notes, I'm on stage, all of it. In real life I don't even sing at church in fear of offending someone.

I love this album. I never heard that Aerosmiths debut was good, the talk is always about Rocks or Toys in the Attic, but it was cheap and I was curious. No bad songs, all good songs. I love One Way Street and Movin Out especially.

well i saw them when they were called Arrowsmith and my cousin Frankie Re was the leader and Tollarico (tyler) was the drummer and they rehearsed at Frankie's house in Yonkers and they played at Frankie's sister Roseanne's 16th birthday party in New Rochelle at some Italian restaurant. I came across Tyler at the Ritz in NY where I had the t-shirt concession: mr tollarico (he turns around), Frankie Re says hello, he says how do u know Frankie Re? I tell him i used to watch them play in Yonkers and at Roseanne's birthday party--wide eyed he says 'you were there?'--right then some music guy pulls him away after he tells me to give Frankie all his love....then they kicked Frankie out of his own band, Tyler became the lead singer and shortly afterwards my dear cousin had a nervous breakdown from which he did not recover and passed away about ten years ago

Second one here, Joey. I got a theory about Dream On. There is no fucking way Steven Tyler wrote it. This was their first album and if you do the math, He would have had to write it when he was 16-17 years old. So we're meant to believe that a this kid wrote an amazing song about a middle-age guy looking back at his life and dealing with his issues? OK, now factor in that for the next 50 years, his songs have been about blow and pussy and nothing has ever touched on anything like Dream On. Where did this shit come from? I love him singing it, but there's just no fucking way he wrote it.
@roymunson1
@roymunson1 3 ай бұрын
The music for 'Dream On' was originally written on a Steinway upright piano in the living room of Trow-Rico Lodge in Sunapee, maybe four years before Aerosmith even started. I was seventeen or eighteen. ... It was just this little thing I was playing, and I never dreamed it would end up as a real song or anything. ... It's about dreaming until your dreams come true. That's what he said about it, and the common concensus is he did write it, otherwise people would be looking for royalties after ot became a hit or made it on an album.
@MrTL3wis
@MrTL3wis 3 ай бұрын
@@roymunson1 The music and the lyrics are two different things. I can completely accept that he wrote the music. I don't accept that he wrote the lyrics. As far as royalties, it could be someone we never heard of who died or it could be his father, who was also a musician and of the correct age to be actually writing that type of song. I just don't buy it was teenage Steven in between popping zits. It's not only that the song is so good, but that in the next 50+ years, every other song has been so different. I grew up an Aerosmith addict. I've listened to every song over and over and over. If there is any single song that doesn't fit in their catalog, it's Dream On. It just so happens to be one of his first songs he wrote as a teenager? Get the fuck out of here.
@roymunson1
@roymunson1 3 ай бұрын
@@MrTL3wis that for me doesn't really change the fact he could have written great music as a 17/18 year old. It was a boiling pot qt that time for new strains of rock to kick it up another level. The a side dream on was obviously made and produced, then the record company took then on under contract for 3 albums. By the time these guys first cheque cleared you can bet they were living it up and coming up woth new idea and new sounds. I'm not saying your wrong, but it was a question I pondered for a while and dag as deep as I could about it. I've yet to even come across any wackos claiming involvement on any level.
@MrTL3wis
@MrTL3wis 3 ай бұрын
@@roymunson1 I'm the only wack-o I've ever heard even consider it. For me, I think his father wrote the lyrics and was happy to give it to his son to boost his chances. At least, I hope that was the case. If Steven had turned out a Bob Dylan career with deep, introspective work, I wouldn't go down this road. That's just not his M.O. Anyway, it's fun to think about...
