In this video, I am showing and explaining my techniques for stripping AFL spiderweb Ribbon cable, Corning 432F Ribbon cable as well as entering the cables into a FOSC and Running the Ribbons to tray. I also show my technique for Ribbonizing AFL spiderweb Ribbon. Thanks for watching

love the honesty of this video - agreed suppliers and even our own precurement staff, just don't get how how much a small part change or a wrong item can ruin your whole flow. Lucky you had a spare.

A good trick i learned a long time ago is to use a small funnel when threading the fiber into the tubes, they are very cheap and I carry it in my tool box.

How much is the equipment to splice? Currently starting a contruction company but havent had much exposure to splicing

You can get a used mass fusion splice machine for around 10k I would suggest that if your just starting off to save on some costs

@ryanrambles2731 yes there is a few brands for testing but the best is exfo they have all the OTDR and power meters you will need for testing

What type of glue are you using? I've spliced this garbage, in my opinion, a ton and normally use alcohol to keep the 'ribbon' intact during splicing. You said it rolls closed in the heat shrink and it does but I my end to end loss testing has been perfect. I'll admit it looks funky inside the sleeve. Sumi reps claim if it burns well it'll shrink well to

It is AFL ribbonizing glue and yea I totally agree with you can defiantly do it without the glue and it will heat shrink alright I just like to add the glue to ensure it stays together and doesn’t overlap in the shrink and plus I’m billing for ribbonizing so just out of respect for the customer since I’m charging them for it i just add it.
