@@ifonly6788 We need players to play like Tal and then get rekt because the other guy actually knows how to defend? A lot of older chess players were excellent attackers but poor defenders, that playstyle is simply impossible now at the high level because of great defenders. So either you're saying that more people should intentionally play poor moves and lose in world championship, or you want pro chess players to become worse defenders and just play bad chess?

28:51 Here's the reason I've found why white would lose this game if Caruana would've played Bh4. Just to be clear, I'm not an expert in chess, not at all, I've actually translated this from a Spanish analysis video and I would like to share it with you all, (if there's any mistake I'd like to apologise, that's just me copying wrongly from the video but I can assure you it was quite complicated to even understand it.) I hope it helps you Agadmator. The problem with Kg6 is the one I’ll explain just now, but the right move for white to get a draw, instead of Kg6 was a move like, for example, Bc4, and white was drawing this game, and for the fact that Caruana missed the following moves: (Obviously we can all see that after Bg5, if white plays h6, he’s just getting checkmated via Ne2 and then, after h7 (for example) and Nf4 that is checkmate, and if the white king goes to h7 to avoid the checkmate, then the black knight would eventually get to g4 to capture the h6 pawn; so, as we already know that that is not a losing option for white let’s consider the other ones). With Kg6 black is winning because of a zugzwang situation, (this is very important), let me explain why: These are the situations we find now in the game after these moves were played in the game: Kg6, Bg5, Bc4, Bh4 Now, here, white has different options, but any move he makes will lose him the game: -For example, if white does Bd3 to prevent Ne2 so that white doesn’t get checkmated via Nf3 and so on (as I've mentioned before), then, the black king will go Kg8, Kh8 to win the match, for example, Kg8, Bc4, Kh8, Bd3, Kc6 and then black wants to go Ke5 to remove the white king from g6 and that’s winning for white. For example, (continuing the moves played before), after Kc8 would come, Nc6, Bc2, Ne5, Kh6 (only option) and then Bg5, the white king gets checkmated. -On the other hand, (now that we know that Bd3 it’s not possible, (we have to move the Bishop anyway, there’s no other option), if white goes Bd5, then, Ne2 with the threat of Nf4 and Bf5 where the black king gets checkmated again. -And there are no other options cause if we move the king to h7 then the pawn from f5 will get captured by the black knight in f5 which is also winning for black. If any of the moves mentioned is not played moving the king instead then the h5 pawn is falling and white is getting checkmated as well, so there's the brilliance of Bh4. I hope that was helpful :)

At least 95% of the World's population don't understand the meaning so would not find it funny. It is nice that you felt uplifted by his remark. Thirsty probably has limited provincial and local usage in the USA so even the majority of Americans would not have it in their routine vocabulary for sexual arousal. The majority would probably think that the woman needed a drink. Agadmator is not American so would probably not intend that meaning to be conveyed. It was probably related to her leaning over the water bottles. Of course, a lot of people, especially men, tend to look for a meaning that has a sexual connotation rather than the banal meaning of a need for liquid refreshment.

About the winning line: Peter Svidler explains it pretty well in his analysis, describes it as nearly impossible for human to find. It’s a fancy engine line that looks like a beautiful zugzwang chess puzzle. After Bd5 that Carlsen asked about black plays Ne2, then Bf3-Ng1 (and that is the move he describes as impossible for human), then Bg4-Kg8, Kh6 and now the beautiful part: black makes 4 moves with bishop to put it on g5, but while losing a tempo, so the white king is on g6, it’s a whites turn and zugzwang. White either has to release a black knight or push the H pawn and lose it after a few repeats of a zugzwang cycle. And then it’s basically over. So it’s no surprise Carlsen and Caruana didn’t get the idea after just a couple of turns from the line...

So about the move Bh3 We have : Bd5 Ne2,Bf3 Ng1.. Now white has two options 1)Bg4 or 2) Bd5(to protect the g8 square) for Bg4 We have Kg8! and now white has 2 main options Kh6 or h6 ..h6 loses after Bg5 Whatever move for white and Kh8...... if Kh6 Bg5 + Kg6,Bh4 with the idea Be1 Bc3 Bd2+ Bg5 and the white king does not have Kg6 now If white moves the pawn loses again if the bishop its the other variad..So for the other variad Bg4 you have Bg5 black threats after white's move Ne2 to Nf4 or Nh3 to Nf4 white can't stop both after Nf4 with some Knight maneuvers knight will get the f pawn or h pawn put it to the engine and the rest must be ok to understand ..

If Bh4, Bd5, Ne2, Bf3, Ng1(Even though Nd4 looks better) , Bd5, then what? Nh3, then Kh7 to block the king, what does black do? Something like Nf4 trying to fork the bishop and the pawn doesn't work because the bishop just defends the pawn. Now black has no ideas except keeping pressure on that one pawn until white messes up.

Ok i got it! Bishop h4 wins because of zugzwang: after h4: -the only place for the white bishop is d5, cause a2 b3 don’t work because after knight e2 ... knight forks king and pawn on f4 (and if king h6 bishop back to g5) and other squares will lose the bishop as well, then knight will go to e2 anyways, knight still threatens to fork the king and pawn and the bishop so you have to move the king away since a checkfork will arise then and bishop cant go to f3 to protect the hpawn cause needs to prevent black king to get in the corner. After king moves you go bishop back to g5. Then whites king cant go back because of the checkforks, king cant go in the corner because after knight g3 you cant protect both pawns and will lose one of them. Bishop cant go to f3 because after knight g3 bishop g4 you will go king f7 and white is in zugzwang, since if bishop moves knight will take one of the pawns, and if king moves to corner black king will enter the fortress and knight can take the pawns. Bishop cant go a2 since knight will win the hpawn, bishop cant go b3 since knight forks with d4 (and bishop cant protect pawn without knight takes bishop), bishop cant go c4 since after knight f4 bishop cant go e2 to protect hpawn since blacks knight will take.

@@ev3rything533 I personally need a chessboard or something to go a long with it. I think after you can start visualizing the board it becomes easier to understand the coord system in speech. Most of the time its based off a certain position so I like to pause the video and go step by step while checking the pos of the board we are considering. It prob depends on your level of chess too.

@Ze TheGame So you're implying that the computer that the people in the live stream used failed? I'm confused mate. You're arguing that engines are a good thing but in the same argument saying that in this case it failed. Don't come out swinging with "you know we do have this thing called engines" if you're gonna imply that in this scenario it failed. That just weakens your argument to use engines in the first place. Just say "you forgot a move like Kh7" which is still bad because then its nxf5 with no way to get material back. If you're trying to go against his argument of zugzwang you failed.
@user-ck9tb4fv2x
@user-ck9tb4fv2x 4 жыл бұрын
@Ze TheGame No one said it wouldn't be a draw. He literally analyzed the move the engine gave that said it was the best. Everyone agrees it would've been a draw. whether it was met with zugzwang* or not. Putting out theories isn't a problem mate. If you can't handle someones theory on why they believe that would've been a good move then why are you here?

One of the best games I've seen in a very long time. I can't believe how well Carlsen played. Throughout the entire endgame, Carlsen had to make extremely precise ( if not optimal ) moves to not immediately lose. And likewise, Caruana played amazingly precise chess. After watching this live yesterday, I was wondering if Carlsen can even lose under these circumstances... I don't think he can.

It actually comes from an old Soviet movie called "A Dog's Heart", where a professor tells his fellow doctor that he conducted a study and concluded that reading Soviet magazines before dinner reduces their appetite. The doctor then replied "But there are no other papers", to which professor said "Then don't read any". The movie is in youtube, under the name of "A dog's Heart" and the quote is said about 28:50. Just wanted to share to expand your already vast knowledge.
